Superman - Zack Synder Betrays Fans?

In this YouTube commentary, the host reacts to a recently surfaced photo of James Gunn meeting with Zack Snyder and speculates on what the meeting could mean for the future of the DC Universe. The host argues that Snyder’s visual style and affinity for dark, horror‑inflected superhero stories make him a poor fit for flagship characters like Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman, but potentially ideal for obscure or villainous DC properties such as Swamp Thing, Bizarro, or The Authority. The video critiques the expectations of "Snyderverse" fans, urging them to accept that Snyder will likely work on peripheral, mood‑driven projects under Gunn’s overall direction rather than reviving his previous DC vision. Throughout, the host balances admiration for Snyder’s aesthetic with caution about commercial risk, and ends with a typical YouTube call‑to‑action for likes, subscribes, and comments.

Welcome back to the channel. I hope you're all having a great Friday afternoon as we get ready to go into, into the weekend. Um, so what's been going around is this photo between James Gunn and Zack Snyder in a meeting between these two. Why would they meet? What is going on? What are they talking about? Now Um, with James Gunn's hands full, uh, heading to DC, I would assume that all his energies are going to be pretty much focused on the DC Universe. It's a lot of work to be done there. He's probably not going to have a lot of time for anything else. So the assumption is that Zack Snyder's there for, uh, something related to DC. Now, if that being the case, does that make Zack Snyder, uh, a traitor to his own fans, right? These are, uh, obviously the divisions of DC are obviously, uh, would be two different separate visions, two different visions altogether, as we could say. So a few things, right? Uh, some people know this, some people may not know this. James Gunn and Zack Snyder both, uh, have worked together, uh, on films prior to this, right? Uh, I believe they worked together on Dawn of the Dead, uh, the remake Dawn of the Dead. Uh, uh, Zack Snyder has a talent for zombie movies, right? And that's the point I'm making about Zack Snyder. Uh, I think the Snyderverse people, uh, they just don't know how to play to Zack Snyder's talents, right? Those zombie movies are awesome, like most of the things Zack Snyder does, right? My big issue was the Superman stuff. Uh, you know, it's like anything, uh, you know, you're not going to be good at everything that you touch, right? Apparently he's been for the Snyderverse people, but the issue in relation to Superman, right, that's what I want him to stay out of myself and many other fans, which I call the true Superman fans. If you're a Snyderverse Superman fan, you just got to take the L. You're not a real— you're not a true Superman fan. You just need to face that. You know, let's just admit to that, be honest with ourselves there, that you're, you're not, you're, you're, you're not a Superman fan. But if this is, this looks right, I mean, if this is what the case is going to be, uh, there are, there are a few things I say right off the bat that aren't going to happen, and that is Uh, Zack Snyder's vision of what the D— of what the— I know for a fact that, um, it's not Superman. Uh, his vision for Superman will be— is no more altogether. You know, Warner Brothers not gonna gamble on this guy again. But, but, but, but, but, but that doesn't mean Zack Snyder's not great. For certain characters of DC, right? He, in fact, he may be perfect for certain characters, specifically dark, weird, weird characters in DC. Some people are saying things like if he did like an Authority movie, you know, maybe if he did a Bizarro movie, you know, something like that, something outside of the main characters, you know, he He doesn't need to deal with any characters that are members of that Justice League. Maybe he can deal with villains, but I think that Warner Bros. is going to be very adamant about not letting too much of Zack Snyder's influence creep up because, you know, why would they do that? Because if they wanted Zack Snyder's input, why not just get Zack Snyder back, right? That's what you would do. Right? You would get Zack Snyder back. You wouldn't go to James Gunn and, and have a totally different formula. So, um, this idea of some people thinking that this is going to lead to the Snyderverse coming back or something like that— no, no way is that going to happen. That is out of the question. It doesn't make money sense. It doesn't make any of those things. Um, and, uh, You know, Zack Snyder does make good-looking films though, right? He makes good-looking films. Um, he may— but, but his strength is to like a horror genre, dark superheroes, right? Uh, that's what he knows how to do, you know. Um, maybe like anti-heroes, uh, you know. Conflicted heroes like he did with that movie Sucker Punch, right? These very disturbing, abused characters. That's where James Gunn— I'm sorry, Zack Snyder prevails, right? He doesn't need to be touching like Superman or Batman or Wonder Woman or any of those people, right? But there are characters in DC that might lend themselves to Zack Snyder, just not the main DC characters. And it would only happen, I'm sure, directly under James Gunn's influence and input. And we know James Gunn has a totally different vision than the SnyderVerse for the main characters, right? So all that said, right, I love Zack Snyder, guys, right? Uh, you know, my points have been quite clear. Keep them away from Superman, keeping them away from any of the main key characters. Now if you got these kind of obscure fringe DC characters, right, um, maybe that Zack Snyder probably will work well with them, you know, especially as far as how to, uh, uh, the, the the, the, uh, the certain looks of the film, right? He, he has a talent for creating a certain look to his films that work for certain things, uh, not for a Superman movie, but that might work for other, um, you know, uh, uh, out there characters, right? You know, like, uh, for example, uh, isn't James Gunn doing something with the Swamp Thing? Uh, I can see Zack Snyder working on something like that, right? But, uh, as long as it's in that capacity, uh, I'm aboard 100%. I love Zack Snyder, but at the same time, there's no reason to put the, the key main figures of the DCU, the, uh, the, the cash crop characters of the DCU, in Zack Snyder's hands. Uh, because, uh, I, I, you know, Zack Snyder would be a— it would be a risk. It would be a billion-dollar risk, uh, with Zack Snyder. It's just not gonna work. And, uh, but working along with others, uh, you know, being over— having the direction, having their own direction, and maybe implementing certain little, uh, uh, parts of what Zack Snyder brings would be excellent. Now another thing is the reason that Zack Snyder's there is probably in relation to work or film that's going to be perfectly suited for his type of movie, right? And Zack looks happy. I like that. That, that means I think Zack Snyder is probably in more agreement with, uh You know, not being the head of DC and not, you know, working on Superman and Man of Steel and bringing back all these, these weird ideas he had. I think he, I think he's more suited to and more and more happy about it being in a position like this where he can, you know, play to his strengths and do movies that makes sense for him. Um, and so I just wish he would go tell the SnyderVerse fans that so that they could stop— you know, I'm, I'm, you know, I'm sure he's glad that they like his movie, but, uh, it wasn't a Superman movie. It's not for Superman fans. And, uh, uh, you know, I think most of us agree that that's how it is. Uh, but anyway, uh, tell me all what you think. Is Zack Snyder selling out the SnyderVerse fans by, uh, kind of, um, in this cozy situation with James Gunn where he's certainly going to have to move to the beat of the drum of the Gunnverse. Uh, is he, um, you know, do you feel he's a sellout for that? I don't. I think it— this is how it should have been from the beginning. Um, you know, it would have made more sense, uh, that way. Uh, if I knew it was going to turn out the way it did, I would have been protesting from the jump. But, uh, you know, after watching 300 and different things, I was like, okay, maybe he's gonna bring a different, you know, uh, you know, I knew it was gonna be a— I know it's gonna be a dark movie. I just had the previews were looking, you know, the trailers was looking— I already knew it was gonna be a, a ripoff of a, like, a Batman, Christopher Nolan Batman film, but I just didn't think it was gonna be that bad, right? I thought that, uh, it was gonna bring a serious element, you It'll be like if Superman, you know, actually a being like Superman actually came to Earth and what it would be like. And he did create that feel and move of an alien with superpowers coming to Earth, but he missed all the characteristics in the storytelling and the Superman mythos that was key to Superman and his, him as a character. So, but that's all I want to say, guys. Tell me all what you think. If you're in the SnyderVerse, are you happy about this? What do you think the extent of this will be?
