In this YouTube trailer review, the host introduces ABC’s upcoming series Time After Time, scheduled for early March. He explains the show’s premise: 19th‑century author H.G. Wells builds a time machine and teams up with the infamous Jack the Ripper, who escapes to 2017 and resumes his murders. The series is based on the 1979 film starring Malcolm McDowell. The reviewer discusses casting, noting that Freddie Stroma (originally slated to play Samwell Tarly’s brother in Game of Thrones) will portray Wells, while a replacement actor from Black Sails will take the role of the Tarly‑type character. He critiques the casting choices, favoring the more militant look of the Black Sails actor for the Tarly family. The host shares his personal love of time‑travel stories, mentions various historical theories about Jack the Ripper’s identity, and expresses cautious optimism about the series despite mixed feelings about past network time‑travel shows. He promises to review the first episodes, encourages viewers to like and subscribe, and signs off.

Hey guys, welcome back to the channel. And today we're going to review the trailer for Time After Time, a new series, uh, scheduled to air the first week of March on, I believe, the ABC Network. And, uh, this trailer looks pretty interesting. Uh, what this show is about It's about H.G. Wells, the writer from 19th century England, uh, somehow being colleagues with, uh, who we know through history as Jack the Ripper. So, uh, interesting, um, uh, you know, idea for a show. Uh, it's actually not, uh new as it's based on a 1979 movie starring Malcolm McDowell, uh, you know, who we know from Entourage and Heroes and, uh, you know, several movies, you know, he's done. He's, you know, has a long, you know, history of acting. But, um, it really looks interesting. Uh, you know, we get basically HG Wells, the writer of the novel The Time Machine, basically actually creating a time machine and going through time, you know, in this, you know, in this time machine. And Jack the Ripper, who plays his colleague, you know, escapes to 2017 and, you know, starts on his Jack the Ripper murder spree. And terror. Um, and, uh, you know, of course I like time— you know, I love time travel movies, and so I'm definitely interested in seeing what they're gonna do with this. I haven't seen the movie it's based on, but I very much like to, uh, check it out now, you know, as it really interests me. You know, um, Jack the Ripper through history, uh, was never captured, and there are many theories about why that is. Some of those strangest and weirdest was that he was the Crown Prince of England, Edward VIII, I believe. Um, or I'm sorry, it might have been Edward VII rather. I'm— I got to get my monarchs down. But, uh, he was the, the brother of George, of King George V. 5th. Uh, gotta look back at my history. But anyway, uh, um, you know, he— you know, they had him as, you know, many people, but he was never discovered or captured. And so this show was an explanation of why that was. And, uh, so the actor who's actually going to be playing H.G. Wells, I believe his name is Freddy Stroma, and he actually was scheduled to play Randall Tarly's son in Game of Thrones, or, um, you know, uh, Samwell Tarly's brother, and he was recast. And, um, you know, apparently he was recast due to his, you know, busy schedule in working on, you know, this show where he's a central character. So, you know, obviously if you're getting your own show your essential character, you're probably gonna go with that, you know, which is, which is what he did. But they, they have replaced him, um, with an actor from the show Black Sails. And I like the casting choices. I like the fact that they have, uh, went with this actor from Black Sails. I don't watch Black Sails. I, I watched like one episode And, uh, it looked interesting, but I just had too many television programs I was already watching. I couldn't handle another one. But, um, from what I've seen of the actor who's gonna play Randall Tarly's son, uh, you know, he looks a lot more militant, uh, more similar to, uh, Randall Tarly, uh, and I think that's gonna work better because the Tarlys are supposed to be like this kind of warrior class of nobles, and they're supposed to be the best, you know, at it. So I would expect that they would, you know, pretty much, you know, look the part, uh, look more like this warrior class or group. And, uh, you know, Freddie Stroma, to me, he has this pretty boy look thing going, and, uh, he doesn't really, to me, come off like a fighter, you know, like a very, you know, uh, you know, the, you know, the, uh, Tarlys or more so, I, you know, I kind of think of like the Spartans or something, you know, the way their family is described and how they've won, uh, you know, so many, uh, battles and things like this under Randall Tarly. But, um, so I like the choices they made, and I, and I think that Freddie Stroma, if I'm saying his name right, will be better in this role as H.G. Wells. Again, I'm looking forward to this show. I love time travel shows. They never seem to get old with me. I love all the paradoxes and the butterfly effects and association with them. So H.G. Wells chasing Jack the Ripper across 2017 modern times here, I think that's an interesting story to tell. So I'm going to get an ABC, um, you know, uh, ABC, NBC, a lot of them doing these time travel shows haven't really held my attention much. Um, they're doing one now, the name of it escapes me, and before that they did, um, Timecop, uh, and I couldn't really get into that one either. But they've messed around and played with some time travel shows for some reason. Uh, they don't do them, um, you know, as well as I like them to be done, but I'm gonna give this one a shot and do some reviews on it, uh, the first few episodes, see how it goes. And, uh, you know, anyway guys, um, I hope you like this news. I hope you check out this show along with me and we can see where it goes. Don't forget to like and subscribe, and until next time, take care.
