In this July 8 2026 episode of the One‑of‑a‑Kind Financial Show Daily, host Mike Milligan (CFP, founder of One Oak Financial) delivers a multi‑segment, educational‑only podcast. He opens with a disclaimer and a heartfelt tribute to his late brother Jonathan, emphasizing the show’s “never miss a moment” philosophy. Milligan then provides a World Cup quarter‑final preview, outlining the round‑of‑8 matchups and highlighting the thin margins that decide both sport and life. He follows with a concise market recap: the Dow’s record close, a modest pull‑back, S&P and Nasdaq levels, and chip‑stock pressure after Samsung’s earnings. The central market narrative is the upcoming release of the June 16‑17 FOMC minutes, noting Chair Kevin Warsh’s first full meeting, the median dot‑plot expectation of a 25‑bp hike, and recent softer jobs and services data that suggest a shift toward a hold stance. Milligan previews the Q2 earnings calendar (PepsiCo, Delta, big banks) as a test of the first‑half rally’s durability. The core of the episode presents three “stories the media isn’t telling,” each backed by recent data: (1) FHA mortgage delinquency rates rising to 11.88% nationally (12.9% in the Southeast, 16% in Louisiana), signaling stress for first‑time and low‑income homebuyers; (2) Commercial‑real‑estate CMBS delinquency trends, with office CMBS at a record 12.34% in January and overall CRE distress projected to reach 15% by year‑end, affecting regional banks, REITs, and muni bonds; (3) Subprime auto‑loan 60‑day‑plus delinquencies hitting a 32‑year high of 6.9% in January, with total consumer debt delinquencies at 4.8%, indicating a “canary” of broader consumer credit stress that could impact retail earnings and Fed policy. Milligan ties these data points to the importance of disciplined financial planning, urging listeners to write and live their plans. The episode closes with a final motivational reminder to call loved ones and a repeat of the disclaimer.

Good morning and welcome to the One of a Kind Financial Show Daily. I'm Mike Milligan, Certified Financial Planning Professional. It's Wednesday, July 8th, 2026. The round of 8 is set in the World Cup. The FOMC minutes drop at 2 PM Eastern. Yesterday's market took a small breath after Monday's record. I have a trivia question for you about the lungs of the earth. And before we go anywhere, I want to talk about my brother, Education Coach Plan. Never miss a moment. Let's go.
Be one of a kind with Mike's Plan.
Yesterday was July 7th, my brother's birthday. He would've been 45 years old yesterday. I wanted to take a beat this morning and say his name out loud on the show because that's What you do. You say the names. There is no financial plan in the world that gives you your brother back. That is the whole point of this show. That is why we say never miss a moment, because the moments are the currency you cannot buy, cannot borrow, and cannot get back once they're gone. So if you're listening this morning and you've lost somebody, take a breath with me. And if there's somebody still here you love, call them today, not tomorrow. Today. Jonathan Milligan would've been 45 years old yesterday. I love you, brother. Happy 45th.

Here's a trivia question for you, and I'll put the answer in the comments. Ready? What are the lungs of the earth? Most people will say the Amazon rainforest. That's a good guess, but it's not the full answer. The full answer is in the comments. Check the pinned comment when you're done listening. It might surprise you. Now to the pitch. The round of 16 finished last night. Here is your round of 8 locked in. Thursday, July 9th, Foxborough, Massachusetts. France versus Morocco, the tournament's first true heavyweight quarterfinal. Friday, July 10th, Spain versus Belgium. Emil and Pedri against a wounded but dangerous Red Devils team. And then Saturday, 2 matches, 5 PM in Miami, Norway versus England. This is appointment television, by the way. And then finally on Saturday at 9 PM in Kansas City, Argentina versus Switzerland. Messi's defending champs against a Swiss side that survived penalties last night. So about last night, Argentina came back from 2 goals down to beat Egypt 3-2 in Atlanta. Egypt's dream run ends. And in Vancouver, Switzerland and Colombia went 120 minutes to nil-nil, then to penalties. Switzerland won 4-3 on kicks. Colombia goes home. This is the tightest possible margin between advancing and going home. That's the World Cup. 4 matches, 4 spots, uh, uh, left to get to the semifinals. That's the round of 8.

Monday's Dow closed at a record 53,055. Yesterday the market took a breath. The Dow gave back roughly 123 points, down 0.23%. The S&P held near the 7,500 level. The NASDAQ stayed in the 26,000 area. Chip stocks were under pressure after Samsung's earnings sparked profit taking across the semiconductor index. Volume was light, volume was tame. This was a positioning day, not a directional day. The story of today, Wednesday, is the FOMC minutes from the June 16th and 17th meeting will be unveiled. That's Chair Kevin Warsh's first full meeting as chair. The market wants to know how united the committee is on the median dot plot that showed one 25 basis point hike by year end. Since that meeting, we've gotten a cooler June jobs report, a softer ISM services print, and a bond market that is quietly repriced toward hold instead of hike. Educational only, guys. That's not a call. Tomorrow, PepsiCo earnings kick off the Q2 Earnings season Friday Delta flies in with their earnings, and then next Tuesday the big banks. This is the moment where the earnings tell us whether the first half rally was real or borrowed. Remember, we don't chase returns; we build a plan.

Yesterday I told you three stories the media isn't telling. Today I want to give you the actual numbers. Story one: FHA mortgage delinquencies. According to the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Q1 2026 national National Delinquency Survey, the FHA delinquency rate is now 11.88%. That's 1 in 8, up 36 basis points from the 4th quarter, up 126 basis points from a year ago. In Regions Bank footprint, the Southeast, that number is 12.9%. In Louisiana, it's 16%. This is 1 out of every 6 FHA loans in Louisiana. Behind on payments. FHA is now— is how first-time homebuyers, low-income buyers, and many veterans get into a home. When FHA breaks, the entry-level housing market breaks. Educational only, folks. Story 2, commercial real estate. According to TRIPP, the CMBS delinquency rate came in at 7.35% in June of 2026, down 20 basis points or 0.2%. From May, thanks to large lodging cure. But the office CMBS delinquency rate hit an all-time record of 12.34% back in January, remains near 11.7% today. CREDIQ is projecting overall CRE, commercial real estate distress, could reach 15% by December. Regional banks hold the exposure. If you own a regional bank stock, A real estate investment trust or a muni bond backed by commercial property tax revenue. This is your story. Follow it. And then story 3, subprime auto loans. According to Fitch Ratings, a 60-day-plus delinquency rate on subprime auto loans hit 6.9% in January, a 32-year record going back to 1994, higher than the Great Recession peak. The New York Fed's Q1 2026 Household Debt and Credit Report confirms auto loan balances at $1.69 trillion and total consumer debt delinquencies at 4.8%. Nearly 1 in 6 subprime borrowers is 30 days past due. This is the canary starting to tweet. Consumer stress in auto loans leads consumer stress in credit cards, which leads consumer stress in retail earnings. Not one of these 3 numbers lead a network newscast this week, but they will move earnings. They will move the Fed, and they should inform your plan.

Colombia went home last night on a missed penalty kick. One inch either side of the post and Colombia would be playing Messi on Saturday. That's how thin the margins are in the World Cup, and that is how thin the margins are in life. Say his name. Say her name. Call the brother. Call the sister. Call the friend. Never miss a moment. A story aprendiendo. I am learning that the best plans in life are the ones written down and the ones actually lived. Inside of you. Educate, coach, plan, guys.
