In this introductory episode of a six‑part YouTube series, certified financial planner Mike Milligan outlines how a handful of AI‑linked companies have come to dominate the U.S. equity market in 2026, accounting for roughly half the S&P 500’s value and about 80 % of its year‑to‑date gains, according to Jefferies. He connects this market concentration to a looming $1 trillion surge in data‑center spending for chips, buildings, and power by 2027, which is already driving steep utility rate hikes in Virginia, Ohio (≈22 % increase) and projected spikes of up to 79 % in Texas. Milligan notes that employers now cite AI as the single most common reason for layoffs, making AI the top driver of job cuts in the latest Washington labor data. He frames these four interlocking systems – the stock market, the power grid, the labor market, and household budgets – as a rapid, technology‑driven transformation that outpaces human comprehension. The episode serves as a roadmap for the series: deep dives into market earnings vs. narrative, environmental and grid strain, evolving job roles, and how a “one‑of‑a‑kind” financial plan can help individuals navigate the shifting landscape. Milligan emphasizes a neutral, educational stance (no hot takes or stock picks), invites audience dialogue, and provides standard investment‑disclaimer language. The episode concludes with a call to subscribe, comment, and tune in each weekend for the next installment.

Reckless Abandonment: The Impact of AI on the Markets, the Environment, Jobs, and Your Money. A special edition report from the one-of-a-kind financial show daily on the weekend.
Mike Milligan in your corner from Hope Soda. I know, turn it up. It's the one-of-a-kind way to go.
In the first 6 months of 2026, a small handful of AI-tied companies did almost all the heavy lifting for the entire stock market. AI-related stocks now make up close to half the S&P 500's value, and Jefferies estimates they're responsible for nearly 80% of the index gains this year. Take them out and the market is basically flat. Data center spending, the buildings, the chips, and power that runs all of them, is now projected to cross $1 trillion in 2027. Not eventually, folks, that's next year. In Virginia, a utility company that keeps electric rates relatively flat over the last 3 decades, is raising rates. Ohio electric bills are up roughly 22%, and then Texas regulators are modeling price increases up to 79% by 2027. And in Washington, the June jobs number came in steady but not strong, while employers are now citing AI as the single most common reason for job cuts. More than any other cause that's tracked. There's 4 different systems, folks. The market, the power grid, the labor market, and your household budget, all moving because one technology is changing it oh so fast. I'm Mike Milligan, and this is a special 6-part series. I'm not here to tell you AI is good. I'm not here to tell you AI is bad. I'm here to teach it and to learn from you. I invite comments in our comment section. I invite questions. This is a dialogue on how we as humans interact with AI and how it impacts us. Over the next 4 episodes, we're going to dive deep on each piece. We're going to talk about the markets. What's real earnings? And what's narrative. We're going to talk about the environment, water, power, cooling, and the grid strain, and what I'm hearing from insiders about what's coming next. We're going to talk about jobs, what roles are compressing, expanding, and being rebuilt. Then we're going to talk about your money, what a one-of-a-kind financial plan considers when the ground is shifting this fast. Then we'll close the series with a conclusion that brings it all together and tells you exactly what to do with everything you've learned. There will be no hot takes, no stock picks. Knowledge is trivia until you know what to do with it. So by the end of the series, you'll be better educated to move forward. I could have easily written a book called Reckless Abandonment, and I probably will in the coming months, but this is happening way too fast. It's going faster than we as humans can comprehend it. So we are going to put this on YouTube each weekend on 1.oakradio's channel.
