Mike Milligan argues that Dave Ramsey's financial advice is entertainment, not education. Ramsey isn't a licensed investment adviser but profits by steering followers toward his network of approved advisors. His core teachings—save $1,000, avoid debt, buy mutual funds—are surface-level principles dressed up as a complete financial plan.

People have adapted them as a financial plan. They're just basic principles that get you on the path to financial success, but they don't teach you anything. They teach you how to have $1,000 in an account, how to avoid debt, and then how to put your money in mutual funds, which by the way, he's not even licensed to be able to give investment advice. He is a good guy, but what he's used to build his hundreds of millions of dollars of wealth is he's not gonna pass out for free, right? Because it diverts from the main thing, getting people outta debt and getting people into his Ramsey-approved advisors network.
