Employers can't stop employees from using ChatGPT with company data, which OpenAI may use to train its models. Organizations need clear policies and conversations across all levels about what generative AI use is allowed at work.
But it's very difficult to control whether or not your employee is logging on to ChatGPT and putting information in there. So employers need to be aware, and they need to be having these ethical discussions at every level, from right up at the top to the departmental level down to the team level. And they have to come up with a policy and procedures that the employees are aware of as how they're allowed to use these technologies within their jobs. Because if you've got a basic ChatGPT account, any information you put in there is being used to train OpenAI's models.
