A production leader calls changeovers "the bane of my existence" while maintenance and engineering downplay their impact. The gap reveals why cross-functional teams need to talk directly about operational problems that stay hidden in silos.
And I'll give you an example. I was meeting with a customer and meeting with a maintenance leader and an engineering leader and asked the question, do changeovers cause problems in your environment? And they said, I don't think so. We don't think that that's causing any problems. Well, 15 minutes later, the production leader of the organization walked in and I asked him the same question in front of those 2. And he said, it's the bane of my existence. Yeah. So, and that's that cross-functional discussions that just need to take place.
