A Cleveland partnership with Swagelok runs an eight-week program for high school students. They build Rube Goldberg machines, assemble 3D printers, and tour a valve factory to see manufacturing isn't dirty or intimidating, but collaborative and creative.

So that was kind of my first taste of manufacturing. We started a program here in Cleveland with Swagelok for students to explore engineering. And so they weren't making high-pressure valves during that program. They were making Rube Goldberg machines and building 3D printers. But we, you know, it was a sellout program. It was every, in the fall and the spring, we'd do 8 weeks of that. They had come to the manufacturing facility and even though they weren't, you know, building the high-pressure valves, they got to go in the labs and see how that worked. They got to learn about project management. They got to learn that manufacturing wasn't this, you know, dark, dirty, scary field that everybody thinks it is.
