The NFL embedded sensors in helmets to measure head-to-head collisions and found a direct link to brain damage and motor-skill decline. The data led the league to ban these impacts, though the upfront cost was steep and the effect on game quality remains unclear.

Another example that I like to use is the NFL. So, you know, you look at NFL, they banned head-to-head collisions. Well, why did they ban head-to-head collisions? Well, they found out that they were causing long-term effects on people in their operations and motor skills down the road because of brain damage. Well, how did they figure that out? It's from sensors that they put inside of helmets and evaluating the collection of the data and how those hits hurt people early on. Yeah. and then followed those people through their lives to see what the effect was. In the initial onset of that, it's a cost center to collect that data. You could argue whether the game became better or worse because of that, but the fact of the matter is people are now safer.
