Business applications work best when built by business stakeholders, end-users, and low-code professionals together, not by IT alone or scattered citizen developers. Structured collaboration avoids the ivory tower trap and creates solutions that actually fit what the business needs.
What you really need to do is turn business applications into a conversation, a collaborative effort where you've got business stakeholders, users, and business specialists who help design applications, and then professionals using low-code tools that are change-friendly to deliver them. In which case, applications are everybody's business. IT working in an ivory tower, not a good idea. Citizens doing hopefully creative chaos, ultimately not a good idea. Getting people to collaborate, on the other hand— Mm-hmm. Now we've got something.
