In this segment, Michael Ungar explains that a quality manager’s role in manufacturing extends far beyond simply judging whether a product is good or bad. Quality management must align with various standards—customer, ISO, or internal—and these standards apply to the entire organization, not just the production equipment. Effective quality management therefore requires oversight of the whole supply chain, including customer and supplier relationships and all key processes that together deliver a product or service that meets customer requirements. Consequently, a quality manager must possess comprehensive knowledge of, and actively participate in, managing these interconnected processes throughout the business.
