Greetings friends. This is Mike Stromso coming to you live from the Living Agency Laboratory. And today's podcast is a very special podcast in support of everybody out there, but more specifically the leaders out there in the world as we face unprecedented times in working through the effects of COVID 19. It is absolutely something that many people that I've talked to, I've talked to people in their 80s and beyond about this and they said they've never seen anything like it, never experienced anything like it, and they hope that nobody has to experience anything like this again. It is unprecedented, but at the end of the day, people are silently waiting to be led. They're needing to be led. And I just wanted to share with you a few thoughts that I have been sharing with a lot of people. I haven't brought it to the podcast yet and I was thinking about it yesterday and I said I need to make sure that I bring this to everybody that listens to the podcast to make sure that you have this information. Because if you're in the leadership chair, this is really, at the end of the day, what people need from you to get through this. My friends, we are far from being to the end of this unprecedented event. So we need to make sure that we continue this and every single day. And I'm going to blend in a few things that I've been doing in my leadership chair since we deployed our team remotely back on March 13th to work from home. We don't have anybody in our office anymore. They're all working remotely because our goal is to keep them safe and most importantly, to prevent the spread of this craziness, this crazy virus that has taken hold of our globe. I was talking with my bride earlier today about conversation with a friend of ours in Spain, and it is far from over there as well. And this person happens to be in the law enforcement industry in Spain, a resident of Spain over there who we've spent time with in our travels. And he mentioned that it's just uncanny to him and how people are not taking this serious enough. So this is a very, very serious matter. We all have. We all must. We all must personally take this seriously and stay home, stay away from other people and prevent the spread. Because if we don't, it will continue to spread and this will go on for much longer than it should. So please take personal responsibility. I learned in my own personal training and development a number of years ago. My response is my responsibility. My response is my responsibility. And at the end of the day, take your responsibility, take it seriously, and do what you need to do. So let's get to the message that I had for you today to begin. Think about everything like this. For every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. For every action, that there's an equal and opposite reaction. So make sure that your reaction from a leadership chair is the right reaction. See, I'm gonna pepper this in. Throughout our time together on this very special, unprecedented podcast for leaders out there, there's three things that people are looking for, you, from looking to you, for through, working through this event. One is certainty. One is certainty. They need confidence. They need your confidence. They need your leadership confidence to be able to get through this. Secondly, they need clarity. They need to be able to regain some kind of control in whatever they're going through. And they need your clarity, your clarity of thought, your clarity of speech, your clarity of actions and everything that goes with that. They need your clarity. Lastly, they need simplicity. Things are more complicated right now because information's flying over the airwaves, the Internet, you know, media, if you listen to them, et cetera, et cetera, and it's all over the place out there. They just need simplicity from the leadership chair. Certainty, clarity. Simplicity is what they need today. And from a business standpoint, from an entrepreneurial standpoint. Did you know, not to make light of our situation, but 16 of 30 Dow companies were born in a downturn or a recession. Yes. 16 of 30 companies like Microsoft, like Disney, like Procter and Gamble and many, many others. So don't, you know, look down the funnel, look up at the opportunity through all of this as well. And what people are looking to you for from the leadership chair is cause and solutions. Cause and Solutions. How can your company help these people with any cause or solution that they may be facing? I know that I have been talking to entrepreneurs for many, many days now, and I'm just trying to bring a cause ish solution to the table. My first question when I, you know, get through the. The basic intro of the phone call, I say, hey, what more can I do for you right now? What more can we do for you as an organization right now? And whatever they say is the next cause and action that I turn to many people, I've been walking them through something as simple as applying for SBA help or walking in through the business income understanding process. Those seem to be the top two, the people that I'm working through. Okay. And the third thing that my team is consistently dealing with is billing issues. So how are they going to get through this? How are they going to get through the cash flow? How are they going to get through dealing with, you know, one or more breadwinners within the household losing their jobs? And what, my goodness, are they going to do? Okay, so cause and solutions. How can you help? How can you be of value? How can you be a light in an otherwise dark possible outlook into the future? How can you be that shining light? As leaders, people are looking to us for that, and we need to bring that to them. See, people are facing fear and paralysis in some ways. You know, they've got this great fear out there, and they may be paralyzed to an extent from taking any action, from doing anything. They need somebody to lead them. People are silently waiting to be led. Lead them. Okay, and then back to the clarity and the certainty for just a minute. Certainty, clarity, simplicity. Those are the three things that people need from leaders right now. Certainty, clarity, and simplicity. So when facing the new reality, that's the other thought process I've got for you today. We do have a new reality in front of us. I was communicating with some people in the medical field yesterday. By the way, this doctor that I was communicating with, he said the day before yesterday, their office got a thousand phone calls. Okay? So that's the new reality. And he said he's doing a lot of telemedicine. He's not seeing hardly anybody unless it's a very severe emergency. And then they got to gown up and, you know, really protect everybody involved in the situation. But, you know, after that, I thought, we're facing a new reality, not only through this COVID 19 outbreak, but beyond that. You know, I've had people on my own team say, you know, I'm pretty Comfortable working from home. It's going great. I really enjoy it, et cetera, et cetera. So that's a new reality we're going to face. So if you've got a large office with a lease attached to it that's going to go on for a few years, what is your new reality in the future going to look like? We've got to be thinking about those things. You see, I've got these words on the big whiteboards in my home office, my work office, and around that I see all the time that I put them up there two or three years ago once I got that into my head through my own personal training and development. You know, we've got to out think and out anticipate everybody, every day in every way. What is the new reality going to look like and how are you positioning the new reality going forward from your leadership chair? They want certainty, they want clarity, they want simplicity. Okay? And above that, don't ignore people's fears. Whatever the people's fears are, we can't ignore them as leaders. We've got to help them with their fears. We've got to help them with their paralysis. We've got to help them with their uncertainty. We've got to give them clarity and provide them simplicity in a way to be able to get through this together. They want all of these things from a leader. Certainty for the confidence, clarity for the control and simplicity for the just so they can handle it. The power of three. That's why I love the power of three. No more than three things. Keeps it super simple. So how can you as a leader step up and take action? Well, inspire away. Inspire away. Everybody that you get to come in contact with, whether it be in a zeeting, a seminar, zastro minding, that's kind of our fun play by the way. So we're zooming everything. You know, we have team meetings, we have client meetings face to face. We've got a brand new backdrop that we just created for multiple platforms so that it's unique and fun and inspiring. And we never stop marketing. We never stop marketing. We but let me say that again, we never stop marketing. So we've got to inspire away in every way. Okay? So anybody that you come in contact with be the inspiration that they might be looking for that day. You know, on my goal sheets right now for this particular year, I've got six different goal sheets for various areas of my life. Goal sheet number three, which is my mental and foundation, it says make a difference today for somebody who's fighting for their tomorrow. And, you know, it's just insane and crazy to me when I go out and I start setting my goals at the end of a year for the coming year, as I begin to set my goals for one reason or another, I've set goals in particular areas. And, you know, it appears at some point throughout the year that I need to implement that facet of my goals. And, boy, I didn't see this one coming. I did not see it coming that, you know, I would be helping people who were fighting for their tomorrow in something like this. So inspire away, okay? And the other thing I wanted to encourage you today, don't slow down. Just redirect and adjust. Don't slow down. Just redirect and adjust. Because at the end of the day, we all have opportunity. And I want to say this with all the grace that I can, but, you know, we are currently in our business experiencing the biggest month in the history of our business, okay. For new business. So, I mean, don't slow down. Just redirect and adjust. Just redirect and adjust because the opportunity's out there. And I've been speak. I spoke to a few other members of our UPP programs within the last couple of days, and. And they, too, told me the same thing. They have more opportunity that has come their way through all of this than they have in recent memory. Why? Because people are generally working remotely from home, and they got time on their hands, and they got time to, you know, maybe check with somebody else right now that otherwise they were so stinking busy they never got around to it. So you better sew up your back door as well from the retention standpoint. Let me say that again. You. You better make sure that you sew up your back door from the retention standpoint, or all this churn is just going to take place. All right, the next thing that I want to encourage you as far as action steps right now, Keep your emotion in motion. Keep your emotion in motion. So what is that emotion? Is it emotion that might be negative, or is it emotion that might be positive, as an example? Hopefully it's positive. And keep your positive emotion in motion to help other people that might be paying attention to every word you say, every move that you make, et cetera, et cetera, every action that you take through your zeedings and seminars and all that kind of stuff. So the next thing that I want to encourage you with today as far as action, sharpen everyone's saw during this time. Sharpen everyone's saw during this time. What an incredible Opportunity with a little bit less pressure on us right now because everybody's, you know, looking for the next thing that they need to get done to work through this. But it gives us an opportunity to sharpen. Everyone saw, you know, the late, great Zig Ziglar said, you know, motivation is like bathing. It's recommended daily. Well, I've taken that quote and I've inserted lots of different words in the beginning of it. Motivation is like bathing, it's recommended daily. Training is like bathing, it's recommended daily. Marketing is like bathing, it's recommended daily, etc. Etc. Etc. And the list goes on. So sharpen everyone's saw during this time. Next. Provide mind food proactively. Provide mind food proactively. You may have heard me say in the past, our mindset is our skill set. Our mindset is our skill set. So at the end of the day, we've got to make sure that we're feeding our mind the right mind food that that we need in today's new reality. Okay? So help people and feed them mind food proactively. And here's one that I'm going to strongly suggest that you write down, because when I learned this, when I was getting myself ready to go a couple of weeks ago to make sure that my mindset and my leadership chair was solid and I was ready to fulfill that seat like nobody else. Don't go through this adversity. Grow through this adversity. Let me say that one again. Don't just go through this adversity. Grow through this adversity. The day we stop learning is the day we stop growing, my friends. Grow through this adversity in some way and help somebody else grow through this adversity. It's a huge opportunity, and don't miss that opportunity. The last thing I wanted to add for you today is this. We have a lot of team members on our team, about 18 that were responsible, and it's a huge, tremendous, important responsibility for me. And I'm doing everything in my power to make sure that we keep all of them employed. Now, ultimately, at the end of the day, they've got to perform certain actions. And I said at the very beginning of this very special podcast that for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. For every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. They've got to take the action and have that equal and opposite reaction to be able to fulfill that. But at the end of the day, if they do, and we are having lots of zeetings, which are zoom meetings, to make sure that we're all on the same page. But as long as they continue to take those actions to, we want to pay them. And so my encouragement, wherever possible, continue to pay your people, continue to compensate them, continue to support them, to take us forward. Because at the end of the day, my friends, if you do the right thing from the leadership chair, it will create loyalty to the point where you will never. I can't even encourage you enough to know because we've done lots of things over the years. We've won numerous awards for our culture and various other things. At the end of the day, my friends, it's all about culture. Because in the words of Peter Drucker, Peter Drucker said, culture eats strategy for breakfast. Culture eats strategy for breakfast. It's your culture. That's everything. So I strongly encourage you, wherever possible, keep everybody moving forward. And if your team really doesn't, you know, this shouldn't be the case. But if your team doesn't have anything to do, just tell them to start calling people. Start calling people and say, what more can we do for you? In the words of John o' Leary from Be Unstoppable Bootcamp a few years ago, one of my greatest takeaways from the amazing, the incredible John o'. Leary. He taught me to say and to think and to purvey from my heart. What more can I do for you? That's all you have to say. My friends, I hope this has helped you.
