This is Mike Stromso. Welcome to episode 54 of the Unstoppable Prophet podcast. This is Mike Tromso coming to you live from the Living Agency Laboratory. And today we're going to be talking about the power of Mastermind. And this is part two of the ahas. From our own Mastermind experience, we are consistently investing in ourselves to improve, personally develop and find new ways and strategies to continue to grow our business so we can have more wealth and have more freedom to live life on our own terms. So we bring to you from the ground trenches of our own personal training and development, the AHA's that I personally got in my own personal masterminding experience. This is part two. Back on episode 52, we brought you part one. So if you want to listen to part one of of the AHA's of mastermind through the power of Mastermind, go back and listen to episode 52. This is part two and I am coming to you live. And I can't wait to bring this to you. This subject just, you know that little buzz that you get in your head when something is just flipping incredible. You have, you know, goosebumps on your arm. The Mastermind experience is such an experience. I love masterminding. I am in a mastermind environment with some of the highest achieving people out there. There are people that are a lot younger than I am that are doing just incredible things in this world outside of our industry. A lot of the people that I mastermind with are outside of our industry. There's incredible knowledge, wealth, ideas and business strategies, great business minds out there. So take advantage of that opportunity. If it ever comes across your sphere of opportunity plate, definitely jump in. It's one of my greatest areas of growth. So I'm going to start where we left off at the end of part one. And we were talking about.
There'S two things in this industry, right? And there's really two things in every industry. New business and retention. New business and retention. I'll repeat that again. New business and retention. So the new business side is selling, right? Selling and retention. Okay. We were talking about making sure that, that our pitch, whether it be new business or retention, was on point. So we need to communicate and this is the next point that I wanted to bring to you today. We need to communicate verbally and in written form. Well, we need to communicate verbally and in written word. Well, we were talking about at the end of part one, transcribing things that we do. So you can be taking phone calls, you can, you can be taking live presentations that you do. You know, in today's world now, Zoom has become this new thing which has taken place of a lot of face to face communication. You can transcribe those. By the way, if you didn't know this, I was helping some agents just, I believe it was yesterday. And I said, are you recording the Zoom presentations that you're doing? And this person said, no. I said, why not? She goes, I didn't know you could do that. I said, you can. I strongly recommend that you record the presentations. That way you can, can transcribe it as well and you'll have the audio and video if that's part of your presentation. And you'll have both those strategies to what we strategically call in the marketing world, repurposing in other ways. And ultimately, at the end of the day, if you ever end up writing a book, if you end up writing white papers, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, that is the strategy that will get you there. So communicate verbally and in written form. And if you're communicating verbally, just simply transcribe it. It will convert it to written form, pull out the bullet talking points, and you will get more new business and you will improve your retention by building those strategies into your business. Trust me, friends, this is what the world class people out there are doing. And we should just. Success leaves clues. We should just take that success and do something with it. The next thing that I wanted to share with you today, I learned this strategy a couple of years ago myself, but it continues to come up and there's two things. Okay, picture this. Remember, the mind works in images. The mind works in images. Picture this or imagine this. We like to get away visually to a place, right? So picture this or imagine this. Okay, so what I want you to picture is an iceberg, right? And there's a water line, okay, the water line. There's part of the iceberg that's above the waterline and there's part of the iceberg that's below the waterline, okay? So above the waterline is what we might say is covert selling, covert selling. But below the waterline is overt selling. Overt selling. And really at the end of the day, what you need to be clear on is your strategy concerning overt selling. Because if you don't understand overt selling, it is the gas, it's the fuel, it's the secret sauce, if you will. But behind getting people to agree to you in any selling situation, so it's said that and below the waterline in the overt area is the subconscious mind, heart, feelings, et cetera. And it really is the driving force between 90% of your closures. So things that are in the subconscious area or the overt area are things like people's beliefs, their emotions, their habits, their values, their protective emotions and reactions. Remember, behind every reaction is an equal and opposite reaction. So know that their long term memory, okay? And lots of other key factors of their being and who they are rest in that subconscious area. So if you can talk with that in your communications, you will close more. So it's not the COVID it's the overt that really is critical when you're closing more deals. Okay, the next point that I want to move on today is the best way to get better in selling is again, to transcribe your prior communications, learn from them, go back and highlight, change words. And what you want to do is you want to always be peppering in the five key trigger words and in the written language, which is you guarantee free new sex. Those are the five proven trigger words. And so every time you say the word I or every time you say the word we cross that out and put in you or your. Okay? And if you do videos, go back and watch your prior videos and learn to get better from them. I will tell you, in my own personal development training, I've gone back and watched videos of my talks of other presentations I've done. And honestly, at the end of the day, friends, there's always room for improvement. I sit there and kind of cringe in my chair a little bit. I'm saying, are you kidding me? You actually were. That was you. You need to get better, my friend. And hey, the day we Stop learning is the day we stop growing. The day we stop learning is the day we stop growing. So watch your prior videos, listen to your prior audios, okay? And every time that you hear something that you want to change, have that red pen out and circle it. And everything is positive where it lends to, you know, overt covert. And the triggers have a green pen and circle that. Okay? And so that way you'll learn to get better. All right? You don't again to repeat the trigger words. The words that you want are you and your not I, me, we are us. Those are all words that talk to our own egos, and we don't want that. We want to be talking to the conversation that's already going in the mind of your marketplace. It's just critically important. The next point I want to get to today, the late, great Kobe Bryant, just, you know, Kobe Bryant. When I think of Kobe Bryant, I think of a lot of things. Dedication and success are two things that come to mind. But how did he get successful? Okay. The late, great John Wooden said, one of the all time winningest, if not the all time winningest, college basketball coach. He said, it's what you learn after you think you know it all that counts. John Wooden said, it's what you learn after you think you know it all that counts. So Kobe Bryant said in a situation he was brought in and it was off NBA season one time, he was brought in to help coach along with.
Another friend of mine, Kevin, who is iconic as far as, you know, basketball coaching and this kind of thing.
And they were both brought into a camp for some of the top high school basketball players in America sponsored by an iconic corporation. So they brought them all into a city in the US And Kobe and Kevin were there, and they were coaching and teaching the kids and learning from them. And so Kevin was doing a drill. And, you know, that's Kevin Eastman, by the way, Kevin Eastman is the iconic, one of the savviest basketball minds from the coaching realm out there. And so Kevin was there with Kobe Bryant and. And Kevin was teaching the kids some of the strategies of their moves and this kind of stuff. And Kevin was working with the kid on the court and Kevin and helping this kid improve their move. Kobe's watching the whole thing. And Kobe says.
Wow, hold on just a minute. Do that again. I want to see that again. And so the kid did it again. And Kevin caught Colby later on and said, colby, why did you have that kid do that again? He goes, I've never seen a move like that. I'm going to build that into my game. Now keep in mind, at that point in Kobe's career, he was already a multi time all star, an NBA mvp. I mean, at the end of the day, if you think about it, Kobe really didn't have too much to improve in his game, but that's who Kobe was. Okay? So in talking with, you know, Kevin Eastman, Kevin Eastman's peppering with questions so he can understand Kobe's mind. He said, well, Kobe, you already reached this iconic level. Why would you want to build another.
Move into your game? He goes, because I've got to continually improve.
So.
They parted that day and they came back the next day. And I learned this from Kevin and my personal development and training and learning from Kevin. So Kevin's telling this story about Kobe. So I met with him the next morning and he goes, so did you try that move out last night? And Kobe said, yeah. And Kevin said, just out of curiosity, how long did you practice it? He goes, oh, I was at it for at least three or four hours last night. And Kevin said three or four hours? He said, yeah. And he goes, well, did you get it? He goes, not yet. He goes, well, how long are you going to practice it until you get it right. And this is what Kobe said. And this was Kobe's mind. Kobe said until.
Kevin said until. What? Kobe said until. Until I get it right. And that was at the core of who Kobe was. Kobe did everything until. And we should be like that in our own business growth in our own personal development, in our strategy, growth in leading our teams and our coaching and training of our teams and everything surrounding our organization and ultimately in personal life. We've got to think, how long are we going to continue this? Until.
Until Amazing changed my life forever. When I learned that through my own personal development, through my own personal development and training. So the next point that I want to share with you today is relatedness. Relatedness. We must give to people's emotional bank account before we can ever think about making a withdrawal. Let me repeat that because that was one that I got a couple asterisks right next to on my notes. Relatedness. We must give to people's emotional bank account before we can ever think about withdrawing. We talked a couple of minutes ago about COVID selling versus overt selling. Below the waterline, in the subconscious mind, heart and soul of your buyer is the emotional area. So before we can give to people's emotional banking, we must give to people's emotional bank account before we can ever think about making a Withdrawal. Don't miss that point, my friends. That is huge, and I will never forget that one. That is just massive. The next point I want to bring to you today is shills. Now, I talked to a lot of people that do. Maybe they do speaking or they do presentations, or it could be an audio situation. It could be a zoom situation. I mean, picture this. Let's say you do a presentation about OSHA or a presentation about sexual harassment in the workplace as part of your business insurance program. Or let's say you do a zoom presentation about the seven dirty secrets of homeowners insurance. Or let's say you do a presentation about, you know, the three strategies that will reduce your auto insurance rates. My friend, I hope you're picking up all of this because you could be doing this today. You can start it right here, right now, and you can start this today for your marketplace, which will bring you more opportunity and it will close you more business, and it will raise your credibility, and it will increase your reputation. My friends, it's not that hard. You just need to take action. Back to the matter at hand. We were talking about shills. Shills are somebody that are within a presentation to benefit your presentation. Let me further that just a little bit. It's a technique called bringing people in. Bringing people in, okay? And it's by mentioning the names of those shills in that particular situation. So let's take shill number one. We'll say their name is Bobby. And we'll take shill number two. Their name is Sue. All right? So we're going to practice this technique called bringing them in by mentioning the shills names in the room. Now, the room could be a room full of live people. It could be a room full of zoom people. It could be on an audio call, okay? But the thing that you have to understand, they can't be somebody that's prominent in any industry or crowd. They have to be one of the crowd, okay? Or shills. The technique, again, is bringing them in. So just by mentioning Bobby and Sue, Bobby and Sue, if you properly prepare, like Ben Franklin said, if you're failing to prepare, you're preparing to fail. So you might want to have a combo with Bobby and Sue before the zoom call starts or before the presentation, and just say, hey, if I happen to mention your name and you want to just give a comment about what I'm talking about, that would be fantastic. And when they raise their hand and they want to comment on whatever it is that you're speaking about, let them talk, because it's not what you say you've done for other people. It's what other people say you've already done for them. It's not what you say you've done for other people. It's what other people say you've already done for them. And that's where it is, my friend. Social proof. Social proof. Social proof. Shills are live. Social proof. People within a presentation arena, whether it be online or offline. You got this. All right, so that was the technique called bringing or, excuse me, I can't even read my own writing. It's boxing them in. Boxing them in. Boxing them is a technique. Boxing them in. All right, forgive me for that. All right, let's move on to the next point that I want to share with you today. Stay true to the process. Stay true to the process. Don't try to recreate it. Stay true to the process. Don't try to recreate it. There's not a lot of elaboration on that statement, but at the end of the day, my friend, I've got very bad SOS disease, and I know a lot of people that are probably listening to this also have a very severe case of SOS disease. SOS disease is Shiny Object Syndrome. We all see the next great strategy. We all see the next great thought. We all want to run to that next great strategy, throw money at it and. Well, I was going to say hope, but hope's not a strategy. We all desire through taking action that it's going to change everything for us instantaneously, my friends. That's not what's going to get it. You've got to stay true to the process. Don't try to recreate it. Success leaves clues. There's nothing new under the sun, my friends. You just got to stay true to the process. Don't try to recreate it. The next point that I wanted to share with you today, it doesn't do any good when you keep it inside of you. And here's the thought process, my friends. Have you ever been either on the phone or face to face with somebody in a particular situation, and you're able to help them understand better by giving of yourself, by giving of your own experiences and story, but you're hesitant to talk about it? My friends, I have learned that it helps people.
Build a deeper relationship with you, it builds deeper trust with you, and at the end of the day, money follows trust and it's the depth of the relationship that matters. So my encouragement today, it doesn't do any good when you keep it inside of you give of yourself, give of yourself to other people and, and just let it rip, okay? So don't hold it in. Just keep giving every. What do you have to lose? You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain. Don't keep it inside of you. All right, the next point that I wanted to share with you today is it's a strategy. And if you've ever studied the depth of people psychology and all that kind of stuff, and if you'd asked me seven, eight years ago, why would you want to, why would I want to study something like that? I would have said, no, I'm not interested. But I will tell you this, my friends, if you said, is there one thing that you've learned in the last five years that has been a game changer above everything else? I would say my study and my learning of the depth or about psychology and the depth of understanding of psychology as it relates to communicating with people. And it has been an absolute game changer. So this is called the bridge to the heart strategy. And it's really something if you've ever heard of nlp neuro linguistic programming, it's really an NLP strategy and it's called Bridge to the Heart. So if you're ever talking with people on zoom, if you're ever talking with people in a live setting, simply what you do when you get to a position where you're going to describe something that's for them, that's going to help them, you simply take your hand and whether you're right handed or left handed, well, it's better if you use your right hand because your heart is on the left side of your body as you're facing a crowd, you simply grab your hand, touch your heart, and like you're blowing a kiss forward your hand to the audience and you simply say, friends, what this means for you is. So you can practice that right now, put your right hand on your heart and say, friends, what this means for you is. And right when you say the word what is, when you begin to extend your hand to the people in front of you and it connects them to you in a greater way. Yeah. A lot of people might say you're freaking crazy. That doesn't make sense. My friends, if we ever connect, I will prove to you that it does make sense and it does make a difference when you're connecting with crowds of people. So it's called the bridge to the heart strategy. What this means for you is all right. And so what this means for you is starting right now, you're going to grow your business, create wealth, and you're going to ultimately have more freedom so you can live life on your own terms, my friends, if you will just stay true to the process and do not try to recreate it yourself, or what this means for you is you will grow your business, have more wealth, and you will have more freedom to live life on your own terms. And that's what this means for you. If you will stay true to the process and don't try to recreate it, my friends, that's what will happen for you, for your family, for your business, and everything else will continue to flourish for you through the good and through the bad. So the next point that I wanted to share with you as we begin to wrap up today is true growth and achievement only happen when you go outside of your comfort zone. Let me repeat that one. True growth and achievement only happen when you go outside of your comfort zone. Life begins outside of your comfort zone, my friends. Sitting in that comfy chair, just raking it in, just being satisfied with whatever you've got, it's not going to cut it, my friends. I will tell you that that's when the greatest growth and achievement has happened. And I've also learned recently through some of the downturns that we've experienced, it's a time when I may just, I may very well double down. And what I mean by that is I'm going to double the investment down to continue to grow through adversity. Not just go through adversity, grow through adversity. Because when you double down through adversity, you will grow. And there's tons of iconic stories of companies that have grown in times of adversity. So just when you strategize, but you see.
True growth and achievement only happens when you go outside of your comfort zone. You've got to become comfortable being uncomfortable. Okay? So one of the things that is on my garage wall, I look at it all the time as I pull into the garage. Complacency kills. Never arrive and never be settled. Complacency kills. Never arrive and never be settled, my friends. Don't let it happen to you. You got this? So the last thing in wrapping it up today in this very Special Episode, Part 2, the AHA's of Mastermind, the power of Mastermind and my own masterminding experience.
When you want to resist is when you must persist. When you want to resist, you must persist. It's those moments when you don't feel like it. You don't believe that you can. It's too hard, I'm tired, etc. Etc. When you want to resist is when you must persist. My friends. Life does become outside of your comfort zone. I strongly encourage you to to take all the notes that you've written down during this part two. The AHA's a mastermind episode and implement, execute and take action. It's only when you take that action is the next win going to appear. The next lesson's going to happen. But you know, as I learned many, many years ago, nobody died. We got this. We can move on. We can accomplish. Don't go through this adversity. Grow through this adversity. My friends, we have your back. I hope this has helped you today. I can't wait to continue to share with you in the coming episodes of the Unstoppable Profit Podcast. We've got some very special guests coming your way. I can't wait for you to continue to learn from them. Through my own personal development and training, I've just continued to run into people who are iconic high achievers. So in the coming episode, you're going to be learning a lot more on how to grow through adversity and just how to grow, period. Not just go through it. To wrap this up. When you want to resist is when you must persist. True growth and achievement only happen when you go outside of your comfort zone, my friends. I hope this has all helped you get out there.
