Is MDMA the Key to Healing Trauma?

In this video, the speaker discusses the therapeutic use of MDMA for trauma, relationship healing, and anxiety, emphasizing safety, dosing, and integration. They outline essential safety checks such as purity verification, avoidance of fentanyl, and contraindications (SSRIs, heart conditions, psychosis). Recommended dosing is under 200 mg per session with at least a 90‑day interval to avoid serotonin depletion. The speaker explains how MDMA creates an empathogenic state that can open a window for deep emotional processing, but stresses the need for a qualified guide and proper post‑session integration. Common concerns—loss of mind, demonic attacks, and FDA prohibition—are addressed, with the speaker attributing regulatory resistance to pharmaceutical profit motives rather than safety. Side‑effects are described as mild (headache, muscle tremor, temporary fatigue) and generally less severe than alcohol. Practical advice on sourcing, testing for fentanyl, and consulting experts like the “Spirit Pharmacist” or Dr. Manish Gurn’s channel is provided. The video concludes with recommendations for when to consider MDMA (failed other therapies, relationship distress, chronic anxiety) and resources for further learning (How to Change Your Mind, Third Wave podcast, Dr. Dave Rabin). Throughout, the speaker repeatedly includes disclaimer that they are not a medical professional.

If your marriage is in tough space and you want to recalibrate it, or your romantic relationship, or even a business partnership or a close friend, it can help you get there right away. And I think it is also amazing for working with a parent or another loved one because it just creates a safety and love and empathy, especially in a guidance session, that can open you up and create deep, lasting healing and repatterning your relationship. The most common question I get asked about MDMA is, is it safe or is it dangerous? Am I going to lose my mind? And rightfully so, because in American culture we had this Dare to Say No Drugs campaign where it was basically showing an egg on a skillet being fried, and it said, this is your brain on drugs. And rightfully so, like, lots of things and lots of people have been negatively affected by opioids, by cocaine, by heroin, by crack, by basically all this stuff, even marijuana, right? Tobacco, alcohol actually is the most dangerous substance that we have. But if it's pure MDMA, not street, street access where you don't know what the heck's in it, and you really truly know it's verified MDMA and has no fentanyl, Fentanyl is a very, very dangerous substance. I lost a friend in 2023 to a fentanyl overdose, sadly. But that question is fair, and you should proceed with caution with doing any sort of psychedelic journeying to make sure, A, that if you're being guided, that they are trustworthy, they know what the heck they're doing, they're familiar with the medicine, they have ideally some training, education that is fairly substantial. And they're in it for the right reasons. And secondly, the medicines, the purity, the efficacy, the safety of the medicines, and the medicines are right for you. And, and you also have to be aware of, hey, am I on some prescription meds, especially SSRIs or other antidepressants? Then you might— it might not be right for you. If you have heart conditions, if you have psychotic episodes, if you have schizophrenia, MDMA or psychedelics period may not be a safe medicine for you. However, if you are safe in terms of your nervous system, your biology, uh, your medications that you're taking, all that, it can be one of the most beautiful experiences of your life, and it can be deeply, deeply transformative in the right context. But safety is a big, big factor. So make sure the purity is there, uh, the setting is right. It's not just medicine, but is it— is the setting right? Is it going to create anxiety or Is there potential for abuse? Things like that, right? Next, within the safety context is also making sure the dosing is right. Just in general guidelines, again, I'm not a neuroscientist, I'm not a medical doctor, I'm not a therapist, but the research that I've read and the books that I've studied from the experts, top, some of the top experts in the world, and I also recommend my friend Dr. Manish Gurn's YouTube channel, The Psychedelic Neuroscientist. You can Click the link down below for that. But he talks a lot about the science and all that jazz. And I've learned a lot from him and others that I'm close to. But you want to make sure that you stay typically under 200mg per setting, per like experience. Okay. And next, in terms of safety, you also typically do not want to do it more than once in a 90-day period. Now, I've seen and experienced myself firsthand, but though it's not generally therapeutically recommended, or in terms of your own recommendations for safety on your brain, to do it more than once in 90 days. But I've seen it work and be very safe as long as you have days, if not ideally weeks, spread out. Because, uh, you don't want to do it too often. It can burn out your serotonin. But over time, uh, you don't want to be using MDMA on a prolonged basis. Second question that I get asked is, will it help? And this is a really, really big question. And sometimes people have done recreational MDMA use and they're basically the same person and it really helped rewire some deep levels of trauma. And that's because they didn't do anything with that window of opening. Again, you get two major windows, acute subjective experience, which is where your nervous system is wide open, more than it's ever been in your adult life at least. Secondly, you get that critical period reopening, but if you go up, experience this beautiful high, it's— you're coming right back down as the same person because you didn't do anything with that portal or that opening that you had. Okay? But if you, if you utilize that, meaning having a proper guide or a therapist to help you shift into a deeper, more authentic, powerful version of you, clear out some trauma, clear out some stuck emotion, re-patterning relationship. It can be one of the biggest lifesavers or life givers that you've ever experienced because it's basically a guaranteed opening to experience bliss and it can actually help your nervous system get back from a suffering state back into a blissful state and remember that it can actually experience happiness and joy. Third question that I often get asked is, will I lose my mind or will I get attacked by basically demons? That often comes from the Christian side as well. My faith side is rooted in Christian beliefs and Christian architecture and Christian mindset around a lot of this stuff, right? And I have started churches, I've started other ministries, I've gone to seminary. I understand that fear. And while I work with Christian and non-Christian people of all sorts of faith, ethnicities, sexual orientation. It does not matter to me. But there is a legitimate fear that you could lose your mind or be attacked by demons. I understand that. And, and I will say this again, in the medicinal profiles of what, what type of openings they create— MDMA primarily heart and body, psilocybin, LSD, ayahuasca is more mind and spirit. However, The most powerful medicines generally are ayahuasca, and they create a massive opening on the spirit side. So I do not use those. I'm not qualified. I'm not trained. That's like in the Amazon rainforest from medicine doctors there. Shamans is what they're called. They have a very equivalent training to US-based or Western-based medical doctors where it's like 6 years of training, like rigorous training. So you got to really respect that medicine. And I don't fool with that one because that's a whole different ballgame. But in MDMA, you're not getting that sort of opening. Okay. It's a, it's a heart and body connection and it's not a true psychedelic. It's an empathogen. So no, you will not lose your mind. And you would generally get more connected and more powerful, more in love with others, even deeper self-love. It's such a beautiful experience in general. Uh, next question: why did the FDA ban it if it's so good? Well, let's look at FDA right now. From their own admittance, 47% of their budget comes from Big Pharma. Now, I've seen and heard estimates as high as 75%. And Big Pharma, until they figure out, uh, Big Pharma does a lot of good. Also, yeah, they are in the business of making money. They are profit-driven enterprises, and they want, uh, want us to use more drugs. They're always looking for new purposes and new uses of drugs. But then when a breakthrough drug or breakthrough technology comes along that doesn't have a patent— for example, MDMA has been around for a long, long time, so they can't get an exclusive patent on it— they're looking at their coffers being drained by this, uh, this sort of therapeutic outcome until they figure out some, uh, pathways for, uh, basically a approval where they get to create a drug patent to protect their profit motive. That's my hypothesis. If you can, you can look at, uh, Dr. Dave, uh, Raben's podcast, and he has some amazing experts that are breaking down the backstory of why the FDA really blocked it. Um, and it's not because of its effectiveness, because if, if you look at Dr. Bessel van der Kolk's breakthrough or breakdown, he's one of the top 3 experts in trauma in the world. He wrote The Body Keeps the Score, worked in Boston and worked in all these amazing institutions on healing trauma in the deepest, darkest areas. And he was a huge advocate. He said, this is— this, if it was a traditional drug, this would be all over the news as the biggest breakthrough in modern mental health in our lifetime, right? Well, of course it ain't perceived that way in the news cycle. Is there vested interest? We have to look at the money trails, right? It's like our politicians, you almost— politicians ideally need to have on their, on their outfits is like sponsored by. Who are all their sponsors? Whenever they go and show up and speak, right? They're all sponsored and bought off in some regards. The next question, what type of side effects am I going to get doing an MDMA session? Typically the side effects are you can have a little bit of a headache the next day. Okay. And I've seen that be stronger in the first experience. For me, I've done MDMA many times now. I hardly have a headache the next day anymore. Okay. It was really the first time that I felt like my brain almost got toasted. And I would say that's partly because your nervous system is experiencing, or in your brain is getting the surge of neuroplasticity. Now, this is my theory, not backed in science. I'm just theoretically explaining this. But, uh, from my, my understanding, obviously you're getting a surge in neuroplasticity. Your dendrites are growing. It's almost like a bunch of new tree roots. If you think it like just grew overnight, like you had 2 years of tree roots growth in overnight. So because it was such an intense experience, um, and shifting your brain and your nervous system, then a lot of things can happen on that. And while you're on the medicine, right? Meaning it, it was such an intense growth that you're going to have a little bit of inflammation the next day. Okay. Now, I don't think it's a big deal. Like usually it's like a, it's mild alcohol hangover is basically in that case on your first time. That's what you might have. Oftentimes people don't have it though. And then if it's your second, third, fourth, fifth use, you're probably pretty good. It's going to be pretty minimal, especially if you did supplementation beforehand. You could be a little tired because again, you are releasing a lot of neurotransmitters, But if you do GABA, 5-HTP, the NAD, creatine, a few other supplements, you're probably going to be pretty good. Okay. Additionally, you can have a little bit of muscle tremors and tightness released and a little energetic shake during the session. But overall, as long as you're staying within the right dosing and right guidelines, you're going to be pretty good. You do want to supplement with magnesium as well to reduce side effects. Now, if you are on any SSRIs, Honestly, proceed with extreme caution. Okay, I would not do MDMA in most cases. I like the Spirit Pharmacist. You can look him up. He's a psychedelic pharmacist, so he gives proper guidance based on drug interactions. So I personally check with him on a lot of those things. But side effects, generally, it's less than— I would consider it less than alcohol. And if you look at the Lancet study, that was in 2010, biggest, one of the biggest drug safety studies of all time. The most dangerous substance that scored a 72, was alcohol and most harm to others, most harm to users, et cetera. Then on down is like crack cocaine and heroin and tobacco and all the expected cannabis even is like a 26. MDMA is a 9. Mushrooms are a 6. LSD is a 7. So it's like these medicines, and I look at them as medicines, not drugs, okay? Because I'm, I'm not a recreational— I don't endorse it necessarily for recreational use. Sure, you can. It's not going to— it's not going to— there's a lot worse things you could do recreationally. Okay. But that's not my jam, right? Therapeutically, I think it's one of the most beautiful, healing, transformative experiences of your life. And the side effects are very, very minimal, especially in comparison to the benefits and the freedom versus the side effects of staying locked in trauma, PTSD, marital strife, emotional stuckness, hyper-anxiety, hypervigilance, et cetera. All those things that can be subsided or released almost entirely in typically 1 to 3 sessions. Next question is, will it last? Will it last? Okay. I've seen over and over and over, as long as the environment post-session is supportive, that it can create long-lasting lifetime effects even in my own marriage and others. Now, sometimes we might need more to anchor into that deeper state of love and joy and connection, right? But just be aware that it can and will last if you have the proper integration. At least half of the impact is integration, which is how do you Bring this new heart connection, this new love, this new joy into your daily ordinary life. All right. So the 7th question is, how do I get it? Okay. There's a lot of sources. You have to proceed with caution. I— there's tests you can buy on Amazon, check for fentanyl. I recommend those. I recommend verifying that you are working, especially with a new source, that it is safe. It is not laced with fentanyl. Definitely, definitely do not. Be lackadaisical or flippant about making sure you are working with a good source. I'm not— I do not provide sources. I do not supply it myself. So do not ask me, do not email me, okay? Or do not comment below, how can, you know, etc. I do not do that. But I do sit with people while they're on it. Okay, next, when should I consider using MDMA? That's one of the most common questions. Well, have you tried a bunch of other things that haven't worked? That's one thing. Like if you've got real trauma, PTSD, like I've dealt with a lot of people, like this summer, 3 of my clients had done more than 30 different modalities. One of them had done over 90 to get through healing their trauma. And all 3 of them, we got to breakthrough results that they had never gotten to before, typically in 1 to 3 sessions. Okay. So, um, when, when else should you consider it? If your marriage is in a tough space and you want to recalibrate it, or your romantic relationship, or even a business partnership or a close friend, it can help you get there right away. And, and I, I think it is also amazing for working with a parent or another loved one. Um, and because it just creates a safety and love and empathy, especially in a guidance session. That can open you up and create deep lasting healing and repatterning your, your relationship. Additionally, I think you should look at it if you are battling a lot of anxiety, frankly, because MDMA will help that anxiety basically get that amygdala, which is often driving you when you are in anxiety, help that amygdala shut off. And then as long as you do work to repattern the triggers of the anxiety, then on the other side of it, your amygdala goes back into more of its normal resting position, which is to come on and activate and take over and run the show of your brain and your nervous system when there is a real threat. But when it gets locked on, which it sometimes does, and many people have been, it's been locked on basically their whole life. What happens is now your nervous system is basically activated and stuck. And I've seen people that their amygdala has been locked on for a decade or more. Right. And sadly, that is Creates relational suffering, creates health side effects, creates just patterns of disconnection. You can go decades of being disconnected from your heart and body because of traumas that you experienced in childhood. And MDMA can get you there overnight, right? Literally in 1 or 2 sessions, you start feeling like such a deeper connection. You really, 1 session, you'll notice a massive difference. Last question is, what if I'm on an SSRI? Again, mentioned earlier, you gotta proceed with caution and you might, I'm not a medical doctor, but some people can recommend tapering off again or tapering down. Well, again, working with your psychiatrist or whoever prescribed the medication, talk with them, proceed safely. And then you can also consult with the Spirit Pharmacist. I highly recommend him. He's been great to help guide people when they are on certain medications. Any other questions I miss? Comment below. I would love to get to those and respond back. Again, MDMA in the proper context, safe setting, safe usage, proper usage, can create one of the most beautiful experiences of your life and really open up a whole new chapter of possibilities. I get that feedback all the time from my clients. Like, they'll say, this has created the next chapter of my life. I'm so, so grateful, etc. You know, I get so many comments like that and it can really help create intimacy in relationships in a way that you've, you can, can't imagine. You can heal PTSD and trauma and depression, help heal that so fast. And again, again, proceed with caution. Do your research. One of the other places I recommend starting is How to Change Your Mind, the Netflix documentary. A look at Third Wave, uh, Third Wave Podcast, uh, with Paul F. Austin, uh, a bunch of other resources. Dr. Dave Rabin, he's a neuroscientist, uh, created Apollo Neuro app, really good resource as well for podcasts. Um, and just dive in and, uh, but you could open up a much deeper level of love, connection, and joy and freedom that you may be yearning for if it's the right use. Experience for you. So much love. Uh, like this, subscribe, share with a friend if this is helpful, and otherwise I wish you all the best.
