Matcha is one of the most underrated peak performance nutrients I can find. Why? Because it gives you this energy, calm, clear, focused energy, while also providing a lot of neuro anti-inflammatory catechins, polyphenols that increase neuroplasticity, bring down your brain inflammation. So if you're eating some foods or some stress factors that cause your brain to be inflamed, it also helps bring those things down. If you get a double shot espresso, What happens, you get this huge energy spike, and then about an hour and a half later you start coming down, and you start— might get a little jittery on the way up, and then you start coming down. And so you don't have the steady focus and the steady energy. Well, matcha releases the caffeine about 35 to 70 milligrams. It spreads out over 3 or 4 hours, so it just gives you a little bump up. And this bump up also, because of L-theanine, we would call it a super nutrient for your brain, and it brings you into focus, right? The L-theanine with the matcha enables you to kind of be in this calm focus state. Additionally, matcha has some rich antioxidant properties. It's about 20 times more antioxidant rich than coffee. And so what I do, I do one little small scoop in some hot water. I typically add a little sea salt, which is already in there, and then sea salt also has some electrolytes, and then I'll add that in. So we've got that. There, I'll whisk it. Then you can just kind of see this little whisk here. We'll whisk this guy, and then I'm going to add a little maple syrup, which matcha also helps with blood glucose levels so you don't get that sugar spike. Quality of matcha is also really important. Ujito is my favorite because it's from ancient area of Japan that's been growing matcha for hundreds of years, and it's really high quality. I typically get ceremonial grade. And then I add some oat milk. Oat milk is much less inflammatory than conventional whole milk, and then I'll add a little coconut oil and then a little cinnamon. So that is my mix for what I think is the best tasting matcha you will ever find. So hope you enjoy.
