Blake Lively's 2025 TIME100 Gala Speech | PR Breakdown Live

Molly McPherson breaks down Blake Lively's TIME100 honor and acceptance speech, arguing her publicists engineered the inclusion. She examines Lively and Ryan Reynolds' reputation management tactics and questions whether Lively's speech, which touched on surviving crime against women, was the right move.

I'll screw this up. Let's see if this goes kerplunk. Snoop. People are mad at Snoop right now. Why are people mad at Snoop? Okay, so I am live on YouTube, the streamer that I'm using. But oh, my God, this is the first time I've. Okay, I might have to turn. Okay, okay. I'm only going early on YouTube. I'm not starting on YouTube, but if you guys want to join me there. Oh, 20 of you are there. Okay, so I'm starting on YouTube in one minute. One minute. And I'm going to talk about Blake Lively on there soon. Sold out. Oh, he was at the inauguration. That's right. Which is the point of the whole time list. It's who people talk about. Publicist. Who people talk about. So Jalen hurts. Of course. Dem. Of course. There's some real people in here. She really did something really important. Oh, we talked about Katy Perry's tour. I. I could talk about Katy Perry again on YouTube live. So here we are. Good. It's working. So. So I'm going to switch over to YouTube. YouTube.com Molly McPherson. I haven't been on TikTok for a while. I really haven't been on YouTube for a while, and I wanted. I wanted to come back with you guys and say hello because it's been so long and here I promised that we were going to talk about Katy Perry, and I'm not. Or. Or Blake Lively and tick. I'm coming over to YouTube. So we're gonna talk about Blake Lively here on YouTube. All right, you guys. Okay, so. All right, you guys, I will talk to you later. And the mic isn't on here yet because I. I muted it. I'm coming off a Tick Tock live. I'm going to YouTube Live right now. Yeah, so move on over to YouTube Live. All right, you guys, so I'm moving over here to YouTube. We're gonna come off here. Bye, guys. YouTube.com at first, I'm talking about Blake Lilac. Okay. All right, Hold on. There we go. All right, now I had two things. This is what I need to do. Yes, Leo, I'm fixing the sound. But tell me, you guys, have I fixed the sound? Have I fixed the sound? So someone. There's a lag here. Michelle, welcome. I'm so glad that you followed. I'm so glad that you followed me on this live. You guys, can someone just tell me, is this live? Just came over from Tick Tock. Okay, can someone just tell me. Okay, we're gonna talk about we're gonna talk about Katie, and we're going to talk about Blake Lively. We'll. We'll streamline from Katy Perry's blue origin plates to Blake Lively. Good, Angie. Thank you. Once Angie says it's good, we're good. Oh, my camera's right here. Once Angie says we're good, we're good. Okay, you guys, we're here. All right, so now let's talk about. Let me just finish with the Katy Perry thing, and then we'll. We'll segue into Blake Lively because. Oh, Danielle's back. Okay, you guys, because I was on Sub Stack, I'll tell you this, too. I keep promoting everything. I'm no longer on Patreon. I switched from Patreon on over to Substack. And the reason why I did that is Substack had asked me, like, months earlier to move over, and I thought, I don't want to just write a newsletter. I love these lives. But then Substack has turned into this entire social media hub. They have notes. So they're like Twitter, old OG Twitter. They have video. You can post video, like a TikTok on their Instagram. But they have memberships. They have notes. They have just direct message. Like, I really, really like Substack, but also my main audience, which is made up of communicators, primarily. I. I do kind of the PR comms work there, too, for, like, my membership. So it's like the Venn diagram. Like, if you love the celebrity stuff, too. I haven't done the celebrity stuff for a while because I've been so deep watching this fire shite show, which is the administration. And I'm not saying that in a political way at all. I am saying it strictly as a human being with principles, that it's a show. But, yeah, you should definitely download it. I do a Friday afternoon news dump on Fridays where if I'm working for my office, which I am right now, I usually do that. But I thought, oh, I'm gonna go back to Tick Tock. Haven't done in a while, and come back to YouTube, which is where I am right now. But my great. Yes, Angie, you're. This is a three peat. You and Michelle are my three peats today. So thank you. I really appreciate it. So I found out about the time 100 thing, and then I admitted that I didn't get my post up about Blue Origins. And then as I was going through that time list, the time list is. Is just. It's. It's. It's crazy. So I'll tell you this. So when I was. Okay, we talked about Pete Hegseth too. I got to bring up Pete Hegseth because that's talking about my prediction. Do you have to pay for Substack? No, it's free. And but I also do have a membership like I'm going to do different lives just for members where I really speak off the record because I can't truly speak off the record. You know, when it's, when it's recorded and it goes up there like in my membership for Substack, I'm going to tell people. So all these people are on, you know, doing all these celebrities have podcasts. You know, podcasts are coming back. Yay. Podcast in Sirius XM is, is making the biggest push for podcasts now. Also Spotify. Like I was listening to Amy Poehler, so she's on Spotify. But Serious approached me to about doing podcasts on their network. The, the head of whatever she followed me on Tick Tock was like, oh great. We had this great conversation. And then at the end they said, oh, we could see you, you know, on a channel with this person. And when they said that person's name, I was, I said no, let me tell you why I am not a fan of this person. So I, I, I don't know if I was ever in consideration for actually getting a show on Serious, but I know that, that, that crushed it right there. Any chance that I had. But also, I don't care. But so like, like on Substack members, that's where I'll, I'll talk about who the person is and, but I can't do it on something that's live like this that could go out there. So anyway, so, and then real quick about Pete Hegseth so we can move on to Blake and, and Katy Perry. I had also asked on my substack because I, I did my top 10 list of the Friday afternoon news dump of the stories that I was looking at for the week. And my number one was, you know, this administration. The reason why I love following the administration is because. Thank you, Kristen. I do have standards because this person, I went, who's a best selling author. I was like, what? Anyway, but I'm. Every morning I wake up and I read the headlines about what's going on in the world and why we're tanking as a country. Jen, I'm sorry, I'm saving it for my membership because I can't do it. I can't do it like this because it's recorded and it Would I? I can't. I, I can't. But I am going to do it in my membership, in my subsec membership, so we can all rant together. Because if people, if, if people follow me in my membership and they dislike this person as much as I do, then that's why they're in my membership, because we think alike. I actually did a tick tock maybe two years ago because I don't know, and I, I'm not being losing my mind on this. I, I know I'm going to come back to my list, but Glennon Doyle mentioned that she did a podcast. Oh, I wonder if this is the same thing. It means I have the same standards as Glenn Doyle. Glennon Doyle and Abby were going to do a podcast with this person. That person was so difficult. That person was so difficult that they canceled it as soon as they, that as soon as they started the podcast or the day that they showed up to do the podcast and they canceled it. Glennon Doyle did. And I did a tick tock saying, I wonder if it's, if this was the person. And some people were, were guess guessing who it was. But it's the same person who they said, oh, you'd be on the channel, on the serious channel about that yet. So anyway, moving on from that now. Let's move quick on Katy Perry. I know Katy Perry. Everybody's kind of blowing her up a little about this Blue Origins flights. Me personally, did we take Katy Perry seriously? Anyway, I mean, she was part of a publicity campaign, Jeff Bezos publicity campaign. And I still, I will feel a little sorry for her because remember, she was married to Russell Brand, who's just charged with sexual assault. And I interviewed Vanessa Gregorius, who I have to bring back on alive. I definitely have to bring her back too. You hate Glennon Doyle too. Glennon Doyle just came up on Substack, Danielle. As soon as I finished my live, I was like, Glennon's on here. Oh boy. Okay. Anyway, anyway, there's some guesses in the chat, so I can't keep looking at the chat because my face will give it away. But anyway, but, but Katie per. But she said, you know, she interviewed Russell. Did she interview Kate? Maybe she interviewed Katy Perry, but she went to the house and Russell and Katy Perry were there and Russell like being married to him. And do you remember the video of Katy Perry of Russell Brand like divorce or saying he wanted divorce before she was going on stage. So I have, part of me feels for Katy Perry there, being married to that guy. And, and Then. And then she tried to go, remember when. Remember at the time when she tried to compete with Taylor Swift and Katy Perry had her moment. She definitely had her moment. But she tried to compete with Taylor Swift and that, you know, Taylor Swift clearly turned. Do you think Bezos wants to start a ride to Space company? I think he already started it. You just write a check for $500,000 and then you can go. And then Katy Perry, to me, it's almost like she's on the blue Origins flight. She's just kind of, you know, Right. Like Katy Perry. So I. I said this on the Tick Tock live, actually. Like when I was driving into Boston on Stero Drive, and you drive by the Garden, which is great because the Garden has the big LED screen, so you can see who's coming. You see scores of the Bruins, the Celtics, whatever. And it said Katy Perry. And my thought was, Katy Perry is booking the Garden. Like, what? So she was there to be a part of this flight. So for her to get blowback on it, honestly, I think she likes it because it's. It's. It's ticket sales. And. And the post that I did not put on Tick Tock. And I'm speaking over myself. I'll go back to Blake, I promise. What I had said on a Tick Tock is that Gayle King had the most to lose and Katy Perry didn't have anything to lose, because that's just my point. Did anyone really think it's crazy how they did space flight for all women, yet they had no trans woman on the flight? Oh, my God, a trans woman. Jeff Bezos, a tech bro. Administration. Oh, my God. No. Katy Perry's getting dragged for the nun dying in court and the land grab. Yeah, that's a really good point. She's had bad. Don't go after a none. I mean, the karma on that. And then the land grab. Yep, you're absolutely right. Bezos and the gals are major humanitarians. They're going to send garbage to. Okay, so, yeah, the Gail's the one who got it most. So anyway, Carolyn needs your PR training. Got run for Congress in New Hampshire. And then you're the press spokesperson. My goodness. All right, so the time. 100. So I'm calling this a little bit. Half the list is like a murderer's row of influence. I started going down that list. The fact that, you know, and then we have, like, David Muir, like, I don't get it. Well, I get it, but you don't get it. Right? Bobby Brown, Amy Griffin, whose Book I'm reading right now, written by Reese Witherspoon, makes total sense. Nicole Scherzinger wrote about Yoshiki. Well, after that, I don't know who that is yet. Nicole is also on the list. Okay. Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Howard Lutnick, J.D. vance, who killed Megan Kelly? So then I asked RFK. So then I asked. And then that's the end of the list. So then I asked. So then I asked, what are the qualifications? And then I remembered being next to the person, the head of comms for Time magazine when I was at a dinner in New York two years ago and we were talking about Taylor Swift who is just named person of the year. And I was asking, okay, tell me about the process when you pick people. For now, this is person of the Year. So Taylor Swift was person of the year 20, 24, 23. She was person of the year in December of 23. And which is no surprise. But also up for it was Prince Charles. If I now I'm doing this out my head, Prince Charles, maybe Donald Trump was up for it. Putin. Putin. Seriously. So what they do, what she told me is they will go out and they will interview. I don't know if they actually interview the people. They might for ego wise but they'll do all the research and then they'll decide who it's going to be. But at that time, Taylor the Heiress tour, like of course it's going to be. So my takeaway from that was, well, Time magazine, which isn't a magazine that you find. I was looking for a magazine. I don't even have a magazine. The only magazine I have, and it's upstairs, I have Vanity Fair magazine. I wanted to read the article about Gwyneth Paltrow. Why do they do it? They do it for, for clicks. Right? And getting people talk about it. At that time, everybody was talking about Taylor Swift because everybody was talking about Travis Kelsey because the Kansas City Chiefs were in the playoffs at that point and they were also going to the Super Bowl. So Time does not have. And that's the other thing anyone my age, Time had oomph back in the day. Nicole is a shining star on the revival on Broadway. Front runner for. No, no Nicole. No. What's interesting about her is she's on list, but she also wrote about someone else on the list. But she also had her cancel moment too, didn't she? Not a Megyn Kelly person. Me neither. Seriously. Oh, I see you're responding to Nicole Scherzinger. Hasn't influenced anyone since she asked whether we wish our girlfriends were. That's. That's actually very funny. Anyway, but Time magazine, this is what you have to think about, because this is what I think about, because I'm a media person. I think about. I think about media. I. I think about media, okay? And I'm always thinking about the channel, how they stay in business, what's struggling, like, print magazine, like, if. Like, that's below local television, local radio, which. Struggling on all this stuff. Terrestrial radio, AM radio, you know, paper, magazines, people don't buy them anymore. So how does Time magazine become newsworthy? Well, you have a big event, you know, kind of like Anna Wintour's Met Gala. You know, you got to be relevant. So how to get people to talk about the event? Well, you pick people who are kind of lightning roddish, and it is picked by editorial. So it's. It's. Well, it's editorial, so they make the decision. But also, like, why. Okay, you guys, tell me, why is Blake Lively on that list? Why is Blake Lively on that list? The BBC reported today that Paltrow is now eating bread. Yes. You want to know what? That headline was sent to me as well. I went, huh? Gwenpeltro is eating bread. You want to know the reason why? Is because you get to a certain age, and I'm saying this firsthand, you don't care anymore. You say, yeah, I'm gonna cut all my hair off. Why? Because I don't care anymore. Unlike Lauren Sanchez, who has to always. Oh, that was the other thing about the Blue Origins flight. And nobody said this, and I said this on my podcast. This is what drove me crazy about it. Everybody on the Blue Origins flight, except for Jeff Bezos, who only walked up to it and open up the door with his wrench, had hair. And they had hair everywhere. They had hair everywhere. That's probably what drove me the most crazy about the Blue Origins flight. Yes. So it's all about the press. A hundred percent. It's the press. Publicists get involved. Publicists get involved. Press clicks, people talking about it. Time magazine knew two things. One, that if Blake Lively was chosen, that were chosen. Was chosen. It's not were assume was. She was. She was chosen for the publicity. And her. Her publicist, Leslie Stone, probably had a little old Sloan that had a lot to do with it, because Blake Lively needed to make a move. And Blake, Lauren Sanchez talked about eyelashes. Well, I know the International Space Station, but they put a ponytail in it. Right. But that's what I think it was. I think Jeff Bezos wanted them to wear tight and glam hair. And also because Lauren Sanchez only wears her hair down. That's another reason too. Anyway, but influence. I always figure influential was simply a way of saying has made headlines and like her, not Blake, because yeah, I would agree. Lively brought in for NAACP but ignored Eiffel and black cause pivoting to. Okay, yep. According to the write up for Blake. It's for her philanthropy. Let's Herb, thank you for that. Let's read first. Let's read why Blake is here. And I didn't see who wrote it for Blake. Who wrote it for Blake. Let's see. Where did Blake go? And that photo. You know, funny thing, that photo of her is. I guess I could share this. They're going for Charlie's Angels. Kinda. Can I. Oh, let me see if this is gonna allow me to do this. Oh, here we go. Oh, I don't want to shut down my whole screen. Can you guys see this? Oh, you can't really see it, but anyway. But this photo right here, a Blake Lively. Somebody told me that one of the Blake Lively documentaries that came out. It's on Netflix, I think. No, it's on Showtime. They said, oh, I saw you on the Blake Lively documentary. And I thought they meant the one that I did with ABC News and juju Chang. But then she said it just came on. I was like, what's that? And it was this new one and they had me in it, which is funny. I think it was the same producer who, who asked me and. And I couldn't do it. I said, I'm sorry, I can't do it. So they used me anyway. They probably knew. They probably knew that I would be okay with it. Okay, so here we go. Blake Lively. But they use this photo. I hate this photo. Blake Lively. It's horrible. Molly, read, New York Post. You and Megan Kelly are on the same message about Blake. Don't shoot the messenger. I don't want to be on the same page about Megan Kelly about anything but Megyn Kelly. Angie, I think you would agree with this. Megyn Kelly and oh my God, Candace, they are doing the same thing. It's like, oh, Megyn Kelly is on Cirrus. Megyn Kelly is on Cirrus. Okay. Do you see why I don't care that I'm not on Cirrus? I can understand. Okay, here we go. Sherilyn Eiffel. Who's Sherilyn Eiffel? Who is that? Is that relate. Is that someone related to Gwen Eiffel? Do I know who that is? Am I an idiot for not knowing who. Who this is? Let me see. Is someone going to tell me? Oh, Sherilyn Eiffel wrote the Blake Lively Time article. I know, but who is she? Oh, that's what you're saying. Okay. What? She is a president and director of the naacp, which is what you guys said here. Oh, okay, I gotta read this now. I'm taking this in right now. I don't know. I don't know the Blake Lively of the red carpet. Do you know Blake Lively of anywhere else? Oh, my gosh. Or the Met Gala. I never watch Gossip Girl. The Blake Lively I know is a philanthropist. I. I can't. Oh, she's former. I. I don't think I can keep reading this. And a student of our country's most intractable problems. Oh, my God. I can't. I can't. With this. She and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, reached out in 2019. Oh, okay. Well, here we go. To make a contribution to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Interesting that they did it in 2019 and not 2020, which. Okay, okay. Can I just tell you something? Can I give you something right now? Oh, okay. $2 million to the double, double, double. A double, double ACP because of the. Of the plantation wedding, which was at Boone Plantation. I do need wine for this. It was at. Why did Candace Owens content change post election? Oh, God, there's so many. I have so many takes right now, Candace. I have takes on Candace, too. The Boone. The Boone Plantation, which. Fun fact. Fun fact about Molly. Npr, All Things Considered wanted me to do an interview about Blake Lively in December when I came out with my first post about Blake Lively, courtesy of my daughter Quinn. I have to give credit to my daughter Quinn, who said to me, it was. It was the weekend of. Of Christmas holidays. My Christmas. Celebrate Christmas. My mom was sitting at my counter, and Quinn said, did you hear Blake Lively is suing? And I went, what? And I immediately thought I got. I got to get on TikTok for this. And then she told me about the New York Times thing. I was like, oh, my gosh, it's this huge campaign. Well, but I didn't want to any. I said, then whenever I do celebrity stories, I get a million calls from the press. Like, but all celebrity press. And this is the holidays. I said, I'm not doing interviews. I. I just. It's the holidays. I'm shutting down. Whatever. And then NBC called, and Tom, Tom Love is now going to be the anchor for NBC, I thought, because the booker, Jake, I really Like Jake. Oh, I got. I got blurry here. Oops, I gotta turn this off. I really like Jake. He's. He's. Hold on. He's the booker at NBC. And he asked. And whenever Jake calls, I do it. And then NPR asked and I said, it's All Things Considered. I think I'm going to do this. So I did the interview. But here's the funny thing. I was down in South Carolina at a wedding at the Boone Plantation. Fun fact. So it wasn't my wedding. It wasn't my wedding, but it was my friend's daughter's wedding who got married to a professional athlete. And I thought, well, I have to go to this wedding. But then when I was down there, it wasn't until I was down there that I made the connection. And here I am doing an interview about Blake Lively. And here I was at the same thing at a wedding. So that's my little irony at the time. But yeah. So she did that wedding there. An incredibly poor taste. So let's keep reading. I had been getting a few of these calls as our work fighting against voter suppression and police brutality was receiving national attention. So this is what else I was going to say. I think she gave the money in 2020. Because here Eiffel is saying. I want to say Gwen Eiffel. Is this Gwen, Gwen Eiffel's sister? Someone needs to tell me that. Oh, my mom. Now my mom's calling me. I wonder if she knows about this live anyway. But I'm. I'm thinking they made the contribution because it was 2020. But she said, called me in 19. In 2019. So I think that's a fudge. I think it was 2020 because that was the time to raise the profile on that. Just saying. Because here she's saying fighting against voter suppression and police brutality was receiving national attention. Yeah. George Floyd in my hometown or St. Paul, Minnesota, happened in Minneapolis. I'm always curious about the kind of research famous people do. I love that you use the word famous do before they make that cold call to offer their support. The ones I have remained in relationship with, this with are those who, like Blake, really did their homework. I don't believe that. I don't believe it. I remember an early conversation which she expressed frustration that so much of our nation's history was not part of the instruction she had received as a student in Los Angeles. When she was acting with her acting family. She was. She was worried about her nation's history. I'm not buying any of this. Her commitment to Filling those gaps. What? So it was Blake's idea. Blake also had an allure of antebellum spread on her publication and her Black Month slave muffins. Oh, my God. What was the name of her company again? Was it Perseverance or Preserve? You guys have to tell me. Her commitment to filling those gaps and becoming the most fully and. Oh, my God. And becoming the most fully informed and prepared citizen is what I appreciate most about her. If Sherilyn Eiffel appreciates Blake Lively the most because she's an informed citizen, I want to know who she doesn't appreciate. Blake is a serious person. Oh, God. Could it get worse? It did get worse. Let's see if the last line gets worse. It's the last line, you guys. She's a risk taker. Oh, I'll say that. Oh, yes, she is a risk taker. And she's committed to moving this. I can't. Blake is committed to moving this country forward for her children and for mine. Oh, my word. You guys. Is it just me? Is it just me? It was preserve. Is it preserve like, preserve things? Blake's speech at the event literally had nothing to do with the write up. Okay. Oh, my God. So anyway, so now Blake. So now we have Eiffel, a civil rights lawyer. Civil rights lawyer. Who really could have nominated anyone else. Okay. But I say the publicist said, let's see, Blake, who could we. We need to get something. We can. We can't do anything for women because that's too much. Because you're woman, woman, woman right now because of the. It ends with us. Like, where could we go into another area where no one can cancel you. Let's go to an area where you were canceled before the plantation. And then they go to Gwen or, you know, donating the money, whatever it is. But my God, now I call her Gwen Eiffel. Somebody tell me is Gwen Eiffel. They have. They have to be related. They have to be related. But anyway, Eiffel is a civil rights lawyer. Oh, my God. So anyway, so this was a call. I agree. It was her publicist. It was her agent. It was a big move. That's why she's there. She now. Now we're coming into my lane. She is there to shift the narrative because right now, Blake and Ryan have tried so hard to shift the narrative into their favor. And the reason why they can't do it is something that. That celebrities make mistakes about all the time. Now, Megyn Kelly was someone else who's on this list. I cannot. Yeah, We're. Oh, I'm gonna talk about the speech. Leo. I, I know the speech. I watched it. We're coming. I'm coming to the speech. But Ryan. So Megyn Kelly blasted George Clooney, who's on Broadway right now, and he's, he's kind of reprising his, the movie on Broadway with, about Edward R. Murrow. What is it? Good night and good night and Good, good. Someone will tell me. Okay. And it's, you know, it's all about news, whatever. And apparently Megyn Kelly is in a montage, a video montage at the end. So it's probably talking about, you know, where has the real news coverage gone? You know, essentially. So George. So now he knocks. Megyn Kelly. So those two have an argument. Geor Clooney, Patti LuPone, Evita were on a thing sponsored by Variety, a panel. They're going kind of talking about Megyn Kelly. Megyn Kelly was, was calling out George Clooney for being too, you know, uppity, high and mighty and, and then accusing. And then George Clooney accused Megan of not being a journalist because, you know, George Clooney saying, have you been in Darfur? Have you been in all these other places where he's been? And, you know, in the argument there, Megyn Kelly. Well, like. Or not. Not. She is a journalist. She is. She was at Fox. I mean, she went local Fox and then, you know, and then she went to NBC where she spectacularly flamed out there. She had her own cancel moment, just like Blake. Isn't that interesting? They both got canceled for very similar reasons. The plantation. Anyway, we're going to come to Blake's speech in a moment. We're going to come to Blake's bleach because it's not even. You're right. It's not even a joke. Well, it is a joke, but it's not a joke because of what she did, in my opinion. So they're squawking back and forth. So Megyn Kelly is, is doing what Candace Owens is doing. They're. They're just shifting because they need clicks and they need numbers. Megyn Kelly got, got approached for Sirius xm just like I did yours truly or two lly, you know, Irish Catholics. And I will say the person who I dislike, someone in the chat figured it out, actually. Megy Kelly is, is taking this personally, you know, that she's being called up. That's not being a journalist, which she is a journalist, but she's a pathetic one. But up until six months ago, she was just doing this in her living room. And so she needs influence, just like Candace Owens. Candace Owens was more respected in the first Trump administration by other Republicans, but she doesn't have the same clout that she used to have because she kind of went too much to get the clicks. So that's why she's chasing stories like Blake Lively. That's why Megan, Megyn Kelly and Candace Owens have the exact same blueprint. They talk about stories that are trending that everyone is talking about and that the algorithm is following. Everybody was talking about Blake Lively on TikTok. I don't like to crow. I don't normally do it, but I'm doing it twice in one week. I was one of the first, okay, because I did it in August. But I called her from a PR point of view. There are plenty of other content creators who are calling her for just being a miserable human being. But when the. When the premiere came out in August, I was following it because at the time, I was a. I was a contributing writer or contributing editor to editor. I was a contributing writer to Forbes, and I wrote a story about the premiere, and I was watching it, and I. And I was watching Blake and Ryan closely. So in my Forbes piece, I couldn't. You know what? My podcast. I'm going to change the topic of my podcast. I'm going to change the topic. It's not going to be about Blake Lively. You guys got me on Blake Lively. It's gonna be about Blake Lively. But I saw the botch from the beginning that. Thanks. That, you know, said I. I was watching. So I had been watching Blake Lively ever since then, and I was watching Ryan's move as well, and seeing what they were doing, because People magazine is who they had in their pocket. And so every time that Justin Baldoni was getting more traction and noticing, you know, that he picked up a crisis team and all this other stuff, and really, they're not a crisis team. They're publicists. They're publicists who've worked in celebrity PR issues before. But make no mistake, they're not crisis managers. There are people who are trained. There are people in this chat who are trained in it. I am trained in it. Being a publicist who handles a celebrity crisis does not make you a crisis manager, which is the reason why this whole thing spiraled how it did, which is the reason why. So anyway, Megyn Kelly even lectured about Blake and Justin case at the. At the MAGA convention. Okay? New JB lawyer Mitra was in the basement with Beldonia at the premiere. She's a good spokesperson. Yeah. So Justin was smart enough. One of his. His publicity publicist is someone who he went to high school with, but he was smart enough to get that counsel to know, like, oh, this is orchestrated against me. That's the irony, because Blake Lively won 100%, was orchestrating against Justin Baldoni back in August. So for her to have the nerve. The nerve to come out with this campaign, which is the reason why Blake and Ryan and at times back in the time 100, they think they, they, they risked. They think they took a gamble. They thought they had more influence than they actually did. Ryan Reynolds made a lot of good business moves. He sold things. He made a lot of money. Okay, fine. Blake Lively and her brand completely bottomed out. Lost a lot of money because she did. She couldn't do it. Right. Part of the reason why she couldn't do it is unlike what, what Eiffel is saying, that she was brilliant in high school. Excuse me. She ran her brand into the ground. Completely into the ground. So Ryan Reynolds makes a couple good moves. But he thinks because he's successful in business that people love him now people love him because of Deadpool. But why do people love. Do they love Ryan Reynolds or do they love Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool? Because so many people love Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds. Now I'm ranting. How long have I been ranting Ryan Reynolds? I'm sorry if I'm ranting. Ryan Reynolds was not. Was C List was not likable the time when he was. And I've done said this before, when he was dating Alanis Morissette, and then he dumped Alanis Morissette and treated her like garbage. That's the real Ryan Reynolds. His movies were like. But he made smart business moves while he was a superhero, and that put him up here. Then they get married. Now they become. Now they become this kind of big couple, because now it's not just one. So Eiffel gushed all over them in 2019. Okay. Deadpool punches up RR, punches down. Oh, love that. Love that. I love that. Love this. They are a study in sheer audacity. Yes. Yes, that's exactly it. The audacity they made. The mistake that a lot of celebrities make. They think their celebrity is going a lot further than it actually is. And what has happened to all celebrities, particularly in the last few years since TikTok went like this. But I don't think TikTok's like this anymore. I'm sorry. Influencers, content creators, I think. And I Said this on our substack, I think a tariff on Ryan Reynolds. Oh my God, Angie, that's hysterical. Oh, Angie, by the way, I'm speaking in Toronto. I don't know if I'm in Toronto in two weeks, but Ryan Reynolds, his, his goodwill was not as solid as he thought it was. Blake had hardly any goodwill. People don't like her. Wait, how are Blake and Ryan going to recover? Oh, I thought you were saying that they are going to recover. I don't think they are. Welcome to Wrexham. Have also gone to his head. Yes, I totally agree with you. Everything went to their head. So what they found out from August when they took all those big hits. See, Candace Owens can't do this because she hasn't been following it since August anyway. But they, they lost goodwill. It wasn't working. And Ryan Reynolds was saying, I'm not going to let this ponytail wearing femme guy get the best of me. And that's why they strategized to go after him. And then in December, you know, when they came out the civil case, they didn't sue. It was a civil, it was a civil complaint in California. It wasn't suing. But she poked, she poked the bear and she poked the wrong bear. And if you remember, she poked it on a Friday, December, couple days before the holidays. And she thought she was going to get. So. And I watched. Boy, did I watch. And I was watching. Some people were kind of supporting her, Her Traveling pants co stars, you know, some of them. But they lost. And then Justin, you know, lost wma, WME dumped Justin and then, then it started trickle and they didn't get anything. So my point to the time 100 they've been trying to make these moves. Remember when Ryan Reynolds spoke out in Hollywood? It was at another, it was at another case, it was at another event where he started talking about women's voices in Hollywood. It didn't get the, it didn't get the pickup that he wanted. People magazines kept writing their stories. The publicist kept trying to do stuff, but nothing moved the needle. That's the problem. Nothing moved the needle. Then they go on snl. That was bad too. And I think not only did I think it was bad for them, where I think they finally figured it out because of the snl, because SNL was broadcast and, and the SNL cameraman who came out on the podcast and said that, you know, that Ryan did change the content. What was supposed to be said. I wonder if he's still working at snl. By the way, Ryan and Blake were there, and they did not from. I. I was listening to Sound of Podcast because someone told me about this podcast. No one really talked to them, so they got to see their standing in the. In the celebrity set. So that's when they said, we need to do a reset. And that's when they started plotting on this, in my opinion. Where are we, April? So the SNL show was. I'm assuming it's February, near sweeps week. I'm assuming it's February. That's when it happened. So now they've been plotting this. They probably worked with Cheryl and Eiffel because she helped them with the Boone Plantation wedding. And George Floyd, because when people remember with celebrities in 2020, if you. If you were donating and doing all that, you got. You got that boost, right? So now she goes to the event Megyn Kelly. So they put Megyn Kelly on there, because. Great. Guess what? Megyn Kelly. We're gonna have Megyn Kelly come because we know that she's gonna come. She's gonna promote it, and then she's gonna bash Blake Lively, who also happens to be at the event. So Time magazine gets what they want. They get people talking about it, which I have been doing now for the last 40 minutes. See, it worked. So then the video of Blake Lively. Oh, my gosh. Of her getting up now. You guys need to help me on this, too, okay? If you watch the video. Wait, can I do it? I. Let me. Look. You know what? I'm going to bring the video up, because I want you guys to show me something. Who posted this? I think Donna. I think Donna Bowling posted it. I think she did. Okay, let me. Let me go to her real quick, because. This is Dana. Okay, this is down a Bowling. Okay, I think she posted it. Let me see. Okay, I'm going to play this, and I'm gonna see. I'm gonna share this. Oh, I don't know if you guys are gonna be able to hear it, though, because I have to set up the. Okay, we'll come through my mic. I want you to look at her mom. Okay? So first of all, I want you to listen to what Blake Lively is saying in this speech. And. Hey. Hi, friends. Can we all hit the thumbs up for this? Great live. Oh, thank you, Catherine. I appreciate it. Oh, thank you. I really appreciate that. Okay, thank you. I appreciate it. I'm gonna show the video. I'm gonna show you the video. We're gonna watch it. Her mom is sitting in front of Ryan. And then at the end, so Ryan has his Arm around her mom. And then at the end, the mom is. And I'm sure people on Tick Tock have talked about this. If they have. If they do. Lip readers. I think she's saying something about something being on Blake's mouth or something. Like she's saying something to Ryan. I want you guys to give me your opinion on what she's saying, so I'm going to share this. Lauren, Blake's narrating a National Geographic episode, too. Of course she is. Of course. Pets, Animals. Everybody loves animals, right? And you were like, what? Okay, let me just. Let me look at the chat real quick. The two Eiffel women are cousins. Thank you, Danielle. She's Gwen's cousin. A true narcissist overestimates their influence. Well, a true narcissist only cares about influence, right? Because that's. That's how they get their power. And when the power's taken from them, they get. That's why Blake. Oh, an. Oh, Angie, you're. You're dropping my conclusion. Angie, you're my spoiler alert. Okay, so I'm gonna share this. The sound might not be great. Okay. Tik Tok hasn't really touched base on the whole Blake Lively drama like they used to. Well, Brigitte, I'm gonna touch on it. I think I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it, and I'm gonna. I'm gonna maybe take clips from this live, and then you guys get credit for it as well. Okay, here we go. Let me close my other windows because my. My computer gets a little janky here. Okay, let me. Hold on, you guys. I just got to close out of everything else. Hold on. I've got memory issues on my computer. Okay, here we go. Let's share the video. And we're all gonna watch it. Do you guys see it?
And she'll get your number tonight.
Oh, wait, wait, wait. Let me go to the beginning. Can I redo this? I don't think.
In her unwavering bravery, she wanted me to share with you that she is a survivor of the worst crime someone can commit against a woman. I've watched her conceal her raw and undeserved shame my entire life. So, as her daughter being asked to share this today is monumental. If we name it, we change it. Just as our fellow Time 100 honoree, the incredible Giselle Pellico, put it to every woman who understood. It's not for us. Us to have shame. It's for them. I have so much to say about.
I have so much to Say about Blake Lively's take on this, who she was referring to was a woman who was incredibly essayed by her husband. Okay, so. Or not again, ear muffs. Okay, I'm gonna say this. I like her outfit. I'm gonna tell you that I really like this pink with the green, probably the jade. And the jade, like, I'm gonna give her that. I'm gonna give it to the stylist. I really like that a lot. But. Okay, well, I can't. I don't want to play it again because people don't want to see it again. But the mother, who should be so incredibly taken at that moment is talking to Ryan, and she does this. Like, is she talking about something on. I. I don't know. Whatever. I agree with you. The fact that Blake Lively. And. And again, we don't want to diminish this type of assault on women at all. At all. But what you're witnessing is the leverage. And, you know, so she has Sherrilyn Ifill, who wrote about Blake Lively for Blake and Ryan's contribution in 2019 for the NAACP, because Blake Lively cared about history. She thinks about the country. She thinks about school. She's. She's learned in all of this. Doesn't mention any of it. Doesn't even touch on it. Then optimizes another victim from the TIME 100 list. Uses her story. Okay. Leverages that woman's story with her mother's story. It's not even Blake's story. And puts her mother's story above the woman who was abused beyond. If you read that story. That story is so awful. It's so awful. So. And. And really, why couldn't Blake Lively talk about anything else? Because if she. What would Blake Lively talk about if she talked about the truth? I am here tonight wearing this great pink dress. I mean, I'm sorry, the pink and the green. Do we love the pink and the green? This looks so good. This looks so good. Doesn't this look good? I'm here tonight because. For the. I want to thank the TIME 100 for asking me to come here tonight, for agreeing with WME and my agent to invite me here tonight to be able to add a new charitable angle to my brand and that of my husband's by having Sherrilyn Eiffel speak to me and about our commitment to the black and African American experience because we were married at a plantation, and we thought we could donate our way out of it. But instead, instead of talking about the plight of any group out there, I'm going to Talk about my mother, because my mother sitting next to my husband, who needs good press as well. I'm surprised. Is Hugh Jackman here? Is huge. Did Hugh Jackman get your ticket as well? Okay, well, let Hugh Jackson in if. If he's coming here. But we're gonna. I'm talking about my mom and something that happened to my mom. So I'm gonna bring out this diddy from the past because I need it now, because there's nothing else I can talk about. And if I talk about what, what I won't say Gwen Eiffel, what Sherilyn talked about, well, then too many people be reminded of my wedding at the Boom Boom Plantation. So I'm. I have to bring it back to women, but I can't make it direct about women because then people think about it ends with us. So I'm just going to talk about my mom and something that happened to her. I'm not going to tell you anything else about it. I'm not going to give you any context to my mom's story at all, except use my mom's story while my mom sits here and looks distracted and talks to my husband Ryan about something else because she was so horrible. Leo Blake's time speech had parallels. And this speech is very similar to Colleen Hoover's mother going through the same thing. But I can't talk about Colleen Hoover right now because I'm angry at Colleen Hoover because Colleen Hoover isn't supporting me in the way that she should. So I'm not going to talk about Colleen Hoover either. Instead, I am going to leverage another Giselle's story who is going. Who went through something truly horrific and horrible and is brave. And I'm gonna use my mom's story and her story, and I'm going to diminish now Giselle's story to make it about my mom, which really, it's just about me and Ryan. The end. That's all that was, folks. That was a PR maneuver, and that is desperation. Oh, look at the woman. Oh, here, I gotta share this, you guys. Snap, snap, snaps. How about Hugh Jackman and Taylor Swift being on the list of people getting to pose. You know what? When you're friends with. You know what? But that's the thing. That is the thing. When, like Taylor, I mean, Taylor, you know, Taylor also used Blake, you know, because Taylor needs friends, right? So she used Blake. So it's mutual. So now. Now Taylor got kind of what she deserved. Look at this woman here sitting here. Look at her face. Oh, you can't See, I don't know if you could see it that well, but if you watch the video, look at the people actually, look, I gotta hit play again. Look at the people behind.
Can you get the last two years.
Of my life probably tonight anyway, because it's so like, watch this video and look at the people online. That's all I have to say. People online said it sounded like Lisa Rinna's mom's story. Does anyone know about that? Oh, I don't remember Lisa Rinna talking about that. But I won't be surprised. It ends with depositions. Indeed. Yeah. Blake really, really, really needs to shift the narrative with depositions coming up because I think this case is going to trial. I really think it's going to trial. Unless there. Unless they settle. She's usually her own stylist. Didn't you know, Molly? That's right, Sarah. The reason why we know this is not Blake style is because she looks gorgeous. I mean, she really does. The dress is a little tight. It's a little tight. We have. We have some creases around that, but I'm not going to knock around that. She's a mom of four. Mom of four. I've had. I've had dresses with creases. A matter of fact, I had a pair of great red pants that I'm wearing with heels in Toronto when I speak in two weeks. And I had the same crease that Blake Lively does. And I had to return those. Anyway, that monologue. Thank you so much. See, Lisa Rinna's mom was nearly killed by a serial killer. Holy shites. The fact she said her mom asked her to talk about it. No. I'm so proud of you for winning this award. Sweetheart. Do you think you could use. Oh, my God. This acceptance speech and talk about my decades old essay? I know, I know. There. Oh, there is a video where you could see the mom's face. Oh, my gosh. Anyway, you guys, so I said on the Tick Tock live that I would talk about Blake Lively. And we talked about Blake Lively. That is my opinion about Blake Lively. And to think her was the person on my sub stack live at noon who told me about the time 100. And I went, what? I told you miss it. Because I hadn't been online. I was working. So I was so deep into my work this morning. All right, you guys, I. Before I log off, I just want to see what other people say. They will lose at trial. There's no way they can win. Because I've told you this before, that I've had people on Justin's side reach out to me. And so I saw a lot of stuff from the inside. And why did they come at me? Because I was one of the first people that said this is an inside job or that. That Blake was. It was Ryan. Actually, it's not even Blake. It's Ryan. Going to trial seems to be very possible, but strategically, mistakes take. Oh, yeah. Oh, absolutely. She. It ends. So I see. Colleen Hoover wrote it ends with us. And I have. Colleen's mother went there, so that's true. So I've said this before on lives that I work in, in the public. I. I do PR crisis work in the publishing industry. So I know a lot about indie authors who get picked up by big buy big publishing houses and get movies and streaming deals and stuff like that. That is a. That is an underlying theme of a lot of self published authors. They are women who've been through it. Let's just say by stealing her mother's story, she confirmed she knows what we all know. The public doesn't view her as a victim. She played her hand, Angie. I totally agree. She's trying to be a victim through osmosis. Love that. No, they are not going to the Met Gala. No, Anna Wintour would never. They would never. Reynolds said her coping strategy is just coffee. Do they also have a coffee brand to sell? Probably. Coming. Thank you so much, Olivia, for my improv. That's exactly what it was. Thank you, Ms. Jeanette. I appreciate it. Blake also said she's been silent for two years about her story and this is not the place to talk about. Oh, I can't. All right, you guys, she is so out of touch. Jesus. Indeed. Yeah. Giselle's story is decades of torture. And I. I don't want to mock. I don't want to mock like Blake's mop story, but it. Is it even close when you are drugged. Yeah. By your husband and his friends. Read the story. It's horrible. All right, you guys. Okay. Wayfair is putting out Scare Joe's new movie. Is that true? Molly, Can I ask you where you're speaking in Toronto. And are there tickets available? I am. I'm in Toronto for cancer treatment. Oh, Catherine, you're in. You're in Toronto for cancer treatments. Wow, that's a story right there, isn't it? Well, well, my heart goes out too, so best wishes for good health there. I'm speaking at. Oh, my gosh. You guys, Guys, I'm speaking at the departure conference. It's the. It's the they. They were trying to build it as the Canadian south by Southwest, and it's tied in with the music week in Canada. Brian Adams is going to be there, and I have to leave for my daughter's graduation when Brian Adams comes on. Any chance you're going to talk about Kanye's cousin tweet at some point? No. No, because I'm not up to date on that. The last Kanye thing I saw was his girlfriend, apparently. The wreck together. Ryan's speech. Ryan had a speech. Leo, thank you so much. Ryan had a speech. Ryan had a speech. Okay, I have to come back on that one. All right, you guys, I'm gonna. I'm gonna do my podcast on Blake now. Thanks to you guys. Thanks to you guys. Showing Catherine love. Yes, absolutely. All right, you guys, that was amazing. I'll be back again. I do encourage you, if you're on Sub Stack, follow me on Sub Stack. That's where I'm putting my membership, if you will. And that's where we're going to have, like, our private lives, where I really go off the record, which I kind of did today. But the membership there is great. The members there are great. They're super funny and savvy and all of it. All right, you guys, great seeing you. I hope everyone has a great weekend, and thank you so much for the topic. Thank you much for the comments. You've inspired me for next week's podcast. All right, you guys, bye for now.
