Molly McPherson (former FEMA staffer) critiques President Trump’s stated intention to disband FEMA and shift disaster response to state control, describing a January White House review council meeting where Homeland Security Secretary Chris Noemi was introduced. She frames the meeting as a symbolic ‘revuke’ and expresses concern that federal disaster response is being undermined.

My first thought was political as someone who worked for FEMA still knows. People who work with FEMA have a lot of friends with fema. As many of you know, President Trump has vowed to disband it. He wants to remove power and make disasters b come from a state response and not a federal response. That has been a charge of his from the very beginning. So back in January, I got to go to my notes. So back in January, this is for my, for my script for next week. I actually pulled a clip. So there was. So back in January, FEMA had a, like a meeting, like a, it was like a revuke of your view council, like set up by the White House to review fema, which is really, it's kind of like setting up your fall, your downfall. It's like walking to the guillotine. That's what happened. And in this review council, it opens with them announcing who the guests were. And they said at the beginning, we want to welcome Homeland Security Secretary Chris Noemi to speak. And then everybody clapped. And I listened to that thought. Is this a federal meeting? We're clapping like fema. You guys are clapping for Christine O. As soon as she speaks, she is going to cut you to size. She's going to tell you why you no longer going to exist and you're clapping for her.
