Molly McPherson introduces a podcast episode where she and Greg analyze press conferences following a tragic incident at Annunciation Catholic Church and school in Southwest Minneapolis. They discuss media handling of tragedy, highlight notable speakers (Mayor Jacob Frey, Archbishop Hebda, Chief Brian O’Hara, the school principal, and bereaved parents), and review sound bites and media-training lessons.

I'm on my way to Logan Airport. I'm heading out for speaking engagement. But I've had so many texts this morning from people who heard my podcast from this week. I recorded it last week after the tragic, tragic incident at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Southwest Minneapolis, as a Catholic schoolgirl from the Twin Cities. Back to school Mass, which I remember so clearly. This shook me. And I was having a conversation with my guy Greg right here. There's some big news about him. Google, and we were just talking about it and I was asking him because he was watching wall to wall coverage about the press conferences, and I wanted to get his opinion on what I was seeing. And then he was talking. I said, wait a minute, and I just grabbed mics and we sat down and recorded a podcast. So it's the two of us talking about the press conferences, not looking at it critically at all, but analyzing what we're seeing for managing a press conference in this day and age of tragedy. It's awful. It's just, it's. But we talked about it from a media training point of view, like my perspective, but also him from covering it, covering a lot of press conferences, and also watching that day from the anchor desks and key people. Mayor Jacob Fry, the principal of Annunciation, the father, Jesse, the boy, Fletcher, Fletcher's father. Who else? Archbishop Hebda and Brian o'. Hara. Chief Brian o' Hara from Minneapolis. We analyzed it from sound bites, which Mayor Fry had a sound bite for the ages. Frankly, I thought it was phenomenal. And just some of the things that we saw in there, and one quirky thing that we saw from the Archbishop. But let me know what you think. It was a hard one. It was a hard one. But I'm glad Greg could have that conversation with me because I was kind of struggling with it. Media perspective, like what we both do. It just felt good in a way to get it out. If you listen to the podcast PR Breakdown this week, you can let me know what you think.
