Four months. And so there's huge change. And we just had our whole team come here and we kind of have a whole thing about our company. And when people come here, they have such a beautiful experience of not just what we're doing with our products, but what we're doing with the company and how we do things here. And it, it just. It's exciting to watch. It's just. Yeah. So. Yeah.
Well, that sounds really exciting and it's so deserved. So congratulations. I can't wait to stay connected on all the growth. All right, so let's dive in. Caroline Allen, welcome back to Rooted in Wellness.
Thank you so much for having me. It's always a pleasure to spend time with you, Mona.
I adore you. You know, you and Dr. Mindy Peltz are the only two to have second appearances on our podcast. And it doesn't surprise me that I'm seeing you both back to back. I'm just thinking of, like, energetic align beautiful people who are doing incredible things in this world. And we have a lot more different topics to dive into. But let's start off where we left last time. You know that this podcast is all about becoming rooted in yourself and the philosophy that I know you and I both share, which is our bodies have the capability to heal themselves and we live in a world with, you know, a lot of ancient wisdom that we've been waiting to be backed by modern day science. So let's start off with tell me two or three things that help you feel really rooted in who you are and how you feel cool.
And not necessarily related to minerals, just in general. Oh, thank you. You know, one of the things that has helped me through there's. There are two primary things that have really helped me. One is something called intentional resting, which is actually developed by my business partner, a guy named Dan Howard. Intentional resting is an amazing tool that one can use moment to moment in life. And it's really about resting into a moment. Like we would just say, I'm resting into this podcast now. I'm resting the perfect alignment and flow of this podcast now. And it shifts from trying to create something or all of that force into the parasympathetic, just allowing. So that is very helpful to me. Another is, is something called self identity through ho', oponopono, which is a practice that I've used and taught over the years and has been extremely helpful to me in shifting. And of course, the final thing is minerals, because, you know, minerals ultimately are energetic healing potential, and they. They really work at a Vibrational level. So when you put minerals in your body, you're able. I. I know because I've had the experience of it and I've watched it in other people. You know, we. We're all dealing with lots of dissonance in our life. And minerals can. As we're. As our energetic systems are changing from kind of the trauma body or the. That dealing with the stresses of life, the more minerals that we have, we're able to actually carry higher, more stable frequencies.
So beautiful. I'm so excited to dive into this. I love that you started with that. A lot of people think about healing and becoming our best as actioning and doing and intensity. And you touched on the opportunity to rest in the moment. Do you know that? That's the only resolution that I made this year is to just find moments of rest every single day, throughout the day. Because what we're going to talk about today is your body's ability to tap into that healing power only when you're in that state. And you know, can you just tell us again about this beautiful ho' oponopono practice that you have?
You know. Well, ho' oponopono has, and particularly self identity through ho'. Oponopono. So there's kind of traditional ho' oponopono that required a kahuna. And the kahuna was the kind of the. The person who did the healing and self identity through ho' oponopono was brought to Hawaii from a woman named Morna Simeona Nalamaku. And she just was. She had a download and was told, no, everyone needs to do it themselves. And I'm sure many, many of your listeners have heard of ho oponopono as these four statements. I'm sorry, please forgive me. Thank you. I love you. And there are many. And this process is called cleaning, which really are cleansing. So it's basically about letting go of memories. All of the things that are playing in front of our eyes, in our nervous systems, et cetera, are just memories. And so we're just having this opportunity to let them go and go back to their source so that we can be clear. And then there are many different practices. The one that's that I. I mean, there are many that I use all the time and whatever I'm called to use because there's many, many tools. But I use this particular tool every single morning that's called the care of the unahipili. And the unihepili is the child. Because the Hawaiians say, you know, you have to have Your inner family in order first. So, So I, I. Every morning I have a little moment, few minutes with. With that child as soon as I come into consciousness, kind of talking about the day, what's going to happen, you know, what does she need, you know, et cetera. What. You know, and that might be as. What kind of snacks would you like today for me to bring? You know, what is. What are you in resistance to? If I say I have a meeting with some. Somebody who maybe I'm nervous about, she might say, I don't want to do that. And I said, well, what would make you com. You know, so we actually literally have a little conversation.
I love that so much. My clients who've worked with me longest, and obviously my rooted community, knows this inner child work is such a deep part of our healing process. And I remember when you shared that practice with me the first time. I'm sorry. I forgive you. Thank you. I love you. Just the resonance of that just feels so deeply therapeutic.
Yeah.
Caroline, what makes you feel uprooted? You are on a rise right now. You are a very busy woman. What makes you feel uprooted? And do you notice when you're uprooted?
Yeah, probably a hundred times a day. It's very. It's very dynamic. And, you know, I think this is the interesting thing, is that the more one's awareness grows and the more connected, you know, mind, body, spirit, all of everything, the more we're coherently integrated, the more awareness I have had about when I'm not. When I am uprooted. So contrary to the belief that the farther along in the path one gets, the more together and, you know, like, I've got this, you know, you feel. In many ways, I. I feel like I've just gained awareness of all the place where I'm not completely integrated or in. Don't have full integrity or where what I'm saying isn't actually matching what I'm feeling. And so it's. It's a very, very dynamic process. I think what I've, you know, to be fully transparent, I've actually been experiencing because of the success that I've been having in my company and in my own growth, I actually have experienced a very interesting thing, which is this phenomenon where when one creates so much safety in one's life, what actually starts to appear are the places where the trauma has not felt safe to appear yet. So I have, you know, I've had some pretty intense trauma in my life, and I thought I had dealt with so much of it, and now Here it shows up. And the places that are most intransigent, the places that live in my biology. I'm reading an amazing book that I recommend to everyone by a woman named Amy Opidgeian, and it's called the Biology of Trauma. And Mona, if you want to interview somebody who's phenomenal, she would be phenomenal. She's. Yeah, she's just. She's fantastic. And the book is fantastic. And it really talks about the layers and layers, the deeper layers that are held in, in our DNA and, but also in our nervous systems, in our energetic systems. So as I learn to enjoy all of the work that I've put in over the years and, and the relationships that I've built and all that, now I'm. Now I need to learn actually how to, like, let that in. And, and strangely, that's much harder because I've spent my life taking care of the kids and making sure that I had enough money and a roof over my head and that the business was going and everybody else was taken care of. And now it's the first time in my life where I'm like, okay, what is it that I want? And how can I actually receive the goodness that I've created?
I was actually thinking about your. Your story this morning, and it's really inspired me this year for the podcast especially to focus in on the feeling of uprootedness. When we feel uprooted. What if we. What if we welcomed it and accepted it? Because you and I both know from our healing journeys that whenever we create more space and more light, it just provides us with the opportunity to hold more through a different lens. And I think we live in a world where we're, we're striving for perfection and peace all the time and this elusive concept of balance and whatever that means, but instead, the gift that really lies behind every opportunity that you feel uprooted and how you just mentioned you're able to witness when that happens, maybe asking yourself where the gift in it really is. Thank you for sharing those two. Those are two concepts that I think really land with our audience. The humanized aspect of healing when we're so focused on protocols and products and stuff like that. So now we're going to dive into some rapid fire questions before we get into the depths of it all. So just answer what comes to mind. Tell us, what is the biggest mineral myth that people believe that's keeping them.
Depleted, that they can get all the minerals they need from the foods they eat?
I agree. One supplement that people are wasting money on because their bodies can't actually absorb it.
Well, it's not just one. It's all the mineral supplements they're taking that are made from rocks, shells and bones.
What's one body signal that screams mineral deficiency but people miss it?
Brain fog.
No one has that. Who has brain fog?
Or sleeping at night? People don't think, oh, I'm not sleeping, I'm mineral deficient.
Yeah, that was a bad joke. How relevant it is today. All right, what is the. An overrated or underrated powdered electrolyte drinks. Are they overrated or underrated?
Powdered electrolyte drinks are a huge misunderstanding. And they. The misunderstanding is mineral balance is as important as the amount. And they're all about large quantity and not about balance.
But they're everywhere in the media and everybody's taking them. And I see them on my feed. All right, thank you. Next up, the most surprising place that minerals show up in the body that no one talks about.
The most surprising place that minerals show up in the body that no one talks about. I'm not quite sure what you're asking. So when you say show up, what do you mean?
I would say mineral function within the body.
Okay, great.
Aren't aware of.
Yes. So your adrenal gland, your thyroid gland, your pituitary gland, your pineal gland. Huge mineral storage facilities. When you are low on minerals, all of those things, they struggle to function and they are like the regulators for your entire body.
Beautiful. Hot take. What's one trendy wellness practice that's actually blocking mineral absorption?
One. I'm sorry, One. Say that. I'm sorry, can you say it one more time? Edit that out hopefully.
Yeah, we can edit all of this out. What is one trendy wellness practice that's actually blocking mineral absorption?
Well, you know, I. I hate to harp on the salt based electrolytes, but salt based electrolytes are actually depleting minerals from your system. They are not supporting min replenishment and they're not necessarily blocking absorption, but because when you put lots of salts in your body, they actually cause your body to release because there's a concentration, there's too much. And now you're urinating all. And you're flushing. You're flushing minerals and water.
All right, we're going to dive more into that. But let's really talk about this aspect of mineral depletion. Let's really talk about this aspect of mineral depletion. We're talking endlessly about hormones and gut health and mitochondria, but minerals are truly the quiet foundation behind all of this. Before we dive into to that, you know, before you really discovered plant based minerals. Can you share with the audience what was happening in your body and what happened when you finally replenished your minerals?
Yeah, it was, it was about 10 years ago. And at that time I had come out of an intense corporate career in technology world and I had flatlined adrenals. They had been flatlined for over a year. I've always been an insomniac all my life. And at that time, I woke up three, four, sometimes more times a night. So I really struggled to have restful sleep. I was entering perimenopause and of course we have hormonal fluctuations and shifts at that time in a woman's life that affect sleep, but this was really over the top. I also had bad inflammation in my gut. I've been gluten intolerant all my life. But even with being gluten free for eight years, seven, eight years, I was unable to get over the bloating, the elimination challenges and just discomfort in my gut. I had also bad periodontal disease with bone loss, significant bone loss in my teeth, and bad recession. So it was a real problem. I had ongoing recurring sinus infections that just constantly, every six to eight weeks, I would again be struggling with a sinus infection. And I was it. I'd gone to many, many doctors. I tried all sorts of allergen free diets. I mean, you name it, energy healing, you name it, I have done it. And you know, not a single one of those practitioners ever said, you know, you might be mineral deficient.
Wow, it's not something we hear. And yet all of the symptoms that you recognize within yourself, being on a gluten free diet, having issues with your gut, insomnia, issues with nervous system regulation, poor sleep, energy production within the body, these are all symptoms that we recognize as being really normal today. And I'm sure for most of our listeners, if you raised your hands to any one of those symptoms, chances are not one practitioner has ever recommended minerals to you. Do you think that this is because doctors just assume that it's impossible to become mineral depleted? Maybe they still think that minerals are everywhere. And yet from the science that you and I are seeing, we're actually seeing mineral deficiency. And through the lens of our listeners, maybe they're eating the right food. So they think they're eating well, they're drinking, you know, purified water, but they're still not feeling their best. They might still have insomnia or issues with their adrenals or cramping or brain fog that we had mentioned earlier. Can you tell us a little bit why, you know, people are still suffering from all of these issues and where mineral depletion might be the source of impact?
Yeah, and I think it's important to mention, you know, I'm a very, very healthy person in, I mean, in other words, from the outside. I, oh, I've, I eat organic, I go to the gym, I work out. I, I, I mean, I, I, I'm not like, I'm not really overweight. I'm not, you know, I, I have not had. Because I've been a sensitivo all my life. Um, I grew up with an autoimmune condition and different things. I've always had to be very, very careful. I, I don't drink alcohol, I've never smoked. You know, all of, I don't do drugs. You know, I'm, I just, I'm not, I'm. You'd think that somebody who had all those symptoms would probably have, you know, trashed their body. Big party or something. Not me. You know, I would go out with friends and have tea, you know, not drinks, you know, so that, that's one of the, the things that it's so important to recognize that mineral depletion is ubiquitous. In fact, the World Health Organization has a term for it, for micronutrient deficiency, like the widespread problem, and they call it the hidden hunger. And I love that term because the hidden hunger is that thing that you're like, you know, I'm doing all the right things, but there's, there's just something missing. Like, I can't put my finger on it, but I, I just know there's something missing, like something underneath all these different symptoms that I might, that I have. Different people have different sets of symptoms, but nowadays people don't just have one or two, they have five or six chronic low level to acute symptoms that they're struggling with. So the reason that we are mineral deficient is that our food supply. And there have been studies that have been done about this. A 2022 study showed they did a test between foods grown in the 1950s and foods grown in the late 1990s. And they found that, excuse me, it was a 2008 study, not 2022. And we found that with significant nutrient density decrease. So we really have a problem. So like, as an example, to get the same nutrition from an apple that your grandfather ate today, you might have to eat five or six, you know, to get your, you know, Your daily allowance of iron from spinach, you'd have to eat like 10 cups of cooked spinach. Of cooked spinach, you know, so it's just not possible to get all the minerals. But people don't understand why is that. And I think it's really helpful for people to get a picture in their mind. So when a plant grows in soil, the way that it creates all of its physical structure is by pulling minerals from the soil. And those minerals absorb through the roots a lot. The same way that minerals are absorbed through your lining of your gut into your bloodstream there. So they're absorbed into the roots and the plant grows. And whether it's a small little plant or a huge plant, it's a huge tree, it's the same. And all of those minerals come from the soil. In nature, that plant will ultimately die and decompose and it delivers all of its mineral content back to the soil. But in our farming, our modern farming practices, we take the food away. The soils themselves have become depleted. This has been a depletion problem since 1930s. I think it was 1936, there was a special session of Congress talking about mineral depletion in soil and what were they going to do about it? That's one of the things. Then you add glyphosate, which is a weed killer that is sprayed on genetically modified foods. They're modified so that the plants grow and the weeds die. But that glyphosate also kills the microbial content in the soil. And it's the microbial content that breaks down plant matter into minerals that are absorbable again by the plants. It's what I call the sustainable loop that nature relies on. This loop where things grow, they die, they decompose. Their mineral content, nutrients are redistributed in the soil where they're available again for new things to grow. And we've broken that cycle and our bodies are no longer connected to that cycle as a result. So other big contributing factor is water. And so many people are drinking reverse osmosis water or filtered water or distilled water, and even some spring waters that have very, that don't have great mineral content. So that has exacerbated our, our mineral deficiency problem.
I love the connection that you make to nature. The fact that we ultimately are created of all of the same things, and yet we've broken that connection. And you know, there's a narrative happening right now in social media around fear mongering of all the things that are wrong in today's modern world. And I really hope listeners and you know, maybe our listeners can take this on in a conversation. For somebody who may be a skeptic, our soil is becoming completely depleted. And people do not understand that what grows in the soil is. What grows in the soil is actually a communication mechanism for our body. This is even like before glyphosate, before the pesticides and all and all of those things. And I think that actually just puts a lot of stress on our gut and our gut microbiome and ability to absorb. And the same for water. Right. Gosh, I remember we moved into a new house and searching for water purification that could somehow mimic nature. I remember when we first met, you gave a beautiful image for me of like water running through a river outside, running through stones, being lit by beautiful sunshine and by the elements of earth. And we just don't have access to that anymore. Not to mention the pharmaceutical drugs and hormones that are present in our water today. Right. Anyways, I'm hovering on these two things because what really gets me excited, especially working with my clients in nutrition, is this concept of foundational healing. If we optimize the foundations of our body, the terrain of our body within, then you know, a lot of our problems go away and there's less of a need or a desire to go on a protocol or a fad, or we're constantly, you know, just looking for things outside of ourselves to heal, when instead it's just optimizing this terrain within. And something else I know you also talk about is stress, chronic stress and mineral depletion. Can you say a little something about that? Because I'm sure 100% of our listeners are experiencing stress.
Yeah. You know, you started talking about fear mongering and all of that. And there, there certainly is a huge amount of stress that our psychology is experiencing every day. And then our bodies are experiencing from environmental toxins, et cetera. But what is missed is the recognition of how much stress is coming from the inside. It's actually coming from our cells themselves. And the way it's useful to help people understand that. So your body is completely made of cells, 37 trillion to 150 trillion of them. And inside those cells are something called the mitochondria. So many people have heard of the mitochondria. They're these energy generating called organelles that actually are creating the energy, most of the energy units in your body that drive your body. The thing that as I began to really look into this and, and understand it, I recognize that your body, the fuel for these little organelles These mitochondria are two things, minerals and amino acids. And your body makes no minerals. It makes some, it makes quite a few amino acids, some you get from your food, but it makes no minerals. And they all have to come from the ins, from the outside, through your mouth. They have to go into your gut, they have to be absorbed into your bloodstream, and then ultimately they have to make their way into your cells. And it's not just like one or two or maybe the four minerals that are in your electrolyte stick pack. It's like 18 to 22 minerals, depending on who you speak with. So it's a lot. And all of these minerals need to come in in balanced ways. Like if you just throw a whole bunch of salt in your system, it doesn't actually support that, that mineral balance. The way I like to have people begin to shift their whole paradigm of thinking of is this body, this cellular ecosystem. We're not a set of parts and pieces. A heart along a liver, blood, you know, the blood or the nervous system or the hormones or the thyroid or the, whatever. We are actually all made of cells. And the cells in your heart have all agreed together be a heart, you know, they're all like, they're, they're, they're together as a heart in a, what we call a morphogenic field. It's like they, they're all agreeing to be heart cells, you know. So the, the, the thing to understand is that if your body isn't powered with enough fuel, all those mitochondria in your body are, are going to be unable to generate enough energy. And I, in researching many people say that if your body's completely fueled, it can generate about 1200 watts of electricity a day. But if you don't have enough fuel, maybe it's only generating 6 or 700 watts, maybe really lucky 8 or 9. But without all of the energy necessary. It can't do everything. It has to pick and choose. And what happens is your cells literally send a, a signal to your nervous system saying we don't have what we need. Go looking, I need something. There's not enough. We need something. Go looking, we need something. There's not enough. I, I need something. And what does that do? It amps up the nervous system. And so that stress, that, that slight anxiety, the feeling like I need to, I need to open up the fridge. What else is there? Or there's just something I. What, what's going on? I need something. Can be coming from the deepest micro cellular level. So once you start fueling your whole body with this full spectrum of minerals in these balanced ways. The cells start sending a different signal. Got what I need? Everything's good here, Things are good, everything's in balance and that eats that. Now the nervous system goes, moves into that parasympathetic flow.
Beautiful. I love that you mentioned electricity as a form of energy because I still think there's a disconnection within that. I talk all the time. I think the future needs to be about frequency within the body for people to understand that. And even the concept, you know, if you think about your nervous system when you feel wired and tired, you know, you're clench your wrists, you feel like you've had too much caffeine. There's this, it feels like you're plugged into electrical voltage. Right. Versus that parasympathetic that you mentioned, which is the complete opposite. When the body can do its, its heal at its best and people don't recognize that holistic approach. Because I still think there's an addiction out there to this individualist mindset on, you know, just treat the heart, just treat the gut, just treat the brain, just treat the hormones. But again, if the body isn't getting what it's need, what it needs, then it's impossible for it to do that function. Which means that the communication within the body throughout all the organs is going to become compromised. Yeah, I love that. So let's talk about, you said something about like the, the ability for the, the minerals to actually get into the cells. And maybe this is like, you know, an area that gets bottlenecked when we're trying to understand mineral absorption. If minerals are present, what's blocking them from getting into the cell?
Oh yes, potentially so many things. So let's start with a mineral and let's say you have a, a pill of. Let's say it's calcium. You're taking calcium and you have a little capsule or tablet and you put it in through your mouth and it goes down into your stomach. The first thing it's going to rely on. Well, first it's actually things almost start a little bit in your mouth, then they hit your stomach. Now it's relying on the level of hydrochloric acid you have in your stomach to start that breaking down process. Then it enters into your intestine. Now it's going to rely on digestive enzymes to be, to break that down. Now these calcium. Most calcium is made from bones and not all, but most calcium is made from bones. And the sad thing is, you know, our digestive Tract is actually not very well versed in breaking down bones. Strangely, in a study I read recently, the more calcium you take, the less you absorb of it. So the percentage of absorption goes down the more that you take at one time. And we can talk about why that is. It's actually really interesting, but.
Yeah, that's counterintuitive.
Yeah, it is. Well, the real thing is, again, if we look at minerals as working together in balance, if you have anywhere in nature where you have a concentration of minerals of any one mineral, plant life, which is cellular life, doesn't actually grow very well. So what we have to recognize is that cellular systems do not like concentrations of any single substance. It's not how nature works at all. You know, we have this mentality. Somebody said, I need to take X milligrams of calcium a day. And we have what I call the filling station mentality. I'm going to line up all my supplements, like going to the filling station, fill up the gas, fill up the windshield washer fluid, whatever, you know, the different tanks. But all these capsules that we're taking particularly of minerals, we can't fill up the calcium tank. So we put that capsule of calcium into our gut. And the body, which is an ecosystem, immediately says, I have a concentration of calcium. What am I going to do with this? And it starts eliminating most of it because it's a concentration. It says, I've got to bring some water from H2O. We've got it. We've got to get some of this out of here. We want to bring this back into balance. Because this is the beautiful thing about ecosystems. Everywhere in the universe, they seek balance. Always. They always seek balance. And, you know, everywhere in our world right now, I mean, as I've begun to look through the lens of ecosystem, I just see all. Many of the problems that we are experiencing as ecosystem imbalance issues, whether they're physical issues or societal issues, you know, and what do we do? You know, in nature, if you have an ecosystem that's struggling, maybe less of people are throwing trash or they're walking on it or whatever. They just say, hey, could you just stay out of this area? Because the area, the. The ecosystem itself knows how to bring itself back into balance. Your body actually knows that, too. Given the right amount of. Given the fuel, that foundational support that I call it the fuel for your campfires. If you can keep fueling the campfires of every single cell now, you're able to generate enough energy and your body will naturally. It's just what it no, it's infinite. It's infinitely wise.
Yeah, no, no, that's a good storyteller. You really are. Yeah. You know, when I think about when I went to school for nutrition, it was kind of part of our oath to never recommend supplements in their individual form. We would have to study the co factors in order for them to become bioavailable within the body. And yet, and I put this through listeners, if you're listening to this, looking at your supplement cabinet, the amount of things that you've accumulated over time, thinking that they would work, maybe you heard on social media that they would be really good. But have you asked, is this working in synergy with my body? Am I taking this at the right time with the cofactors that, that it needs? And have they been recommended by somebody who's really an advocate for that? You know, you're making me think a lot about Ayurveda. Because the entire purpose of Ayurveda is to bring the body back into homeostasis. The foundational belief is that the body can heal itself when it's in homeostasis. So applying or taking or drinking or popping these supplements that are like these band aid solutions, well, you're not cultivating the environment that it needs. While I'm also listening to you speak about the environment, can we spend a second just talking about maybe toxic load and the burden within the body? Yes, because we all know again, this isn't fear mongering, but we live in a world with polluted air, polluted water, a lot of chemicals in our environment and personal care products and our clothing and cleaners, you name it. So if there's a toxic load on the body, should we even be considering mineral supplementation or do we need to address the toxic load first?
Ah, that's such a great question. The thing that I again, back to nature do. You know, there have always been, throughout the millennia that Earth has been here and that that cellular life has been thriving on this planet. There have always been toxic chemicals that were non beneficial to cellular life. So guess what? Mother Nature designed methods for removing toxins from ecosystems, cellular ecosystems on Earth. And it's absolutely true that we are inundated with all sorts of toxins. But if we look at how nature deals with that, again, knowing that the body and natural cellular systems have this infinite wisdom for coming back into balance. And balance means removal of the non beneficial toxic substances that would bringing it back into a thriving state would have removed those things. The beautiful thing is nature actually provided the tools and that's you know, that's the most exciting thing that I get to do every day is introduce people to the tools that nature designed to uptake minerals into the system and to detoxify cellular systems. Related to kind of your question, like, should I even think about minerals before I think about detoxing? Absolutely. I say if you do nothing else for your health, Nothing, absolutely nothing. And you just took full spectrum plant based humic and fulvic minerals, that would be the absolute best support you can give your system. That is what nature uses to support thriving ecosystems, both in terms of providing that foundational fuel for energy production and the detoxification, the removal of those non beneficial substances. You know, the beautiful thing we have to recognize is I was so sick and I described all those symptoms and I was introduced to these plant based minerals and I took literally one ounce of liquid, tastes like water every day. After two months, I went back to my dentist and she looked in my mouth, all my periodontal issues, my gum issues were completely gone. She's like, what in the heck happened? This is crazy. We'd been working. I've been to three different dentists trying to heal my periodontal problems. Then four months in, I went to my naturopath. We'd been trying all sorts of things to heal my adrenals. Just jump start them. They were one third of the way up the chart, you know, so these are actually doctors going, noticing it before I was really, really aware. But over the space of eight or nine months, all of the symptoms that I described just resolved today. After being an insomniac all my life, I sleep through the night, most nights.
Wow.
That, that's absolutely. I mean, for people who like me, struggle with insomnia, that is like a dream. That alone has changed my life.
It's life changing. God, that's a dream for so many people. God. Showing up every day after a night of rest is everything. You're making me think a lot about women during pregnancy. I don't think we're ever taught about mineral deficiency or the importance of it or when we're looking at a prenatal. What's actually lacking within that. I remember when I was pregnant, my gums receded so much that my lower gown just like literally cut in half and I had to go through surgery. Having known this back then would have been powerful. Let's talk about then just sticking with this detox aspect for a second. You mentioned fulvic minerals. Okay, can you talk to us about the difference between plant based humic versus folvic minerals, how they're different in the body.
Yeah, these two, they're molecules, okay? Or I also call them complexes because they're actually minerals all complexed together into a molecule. And the largest molecule is the humic molecule, and the tiniest one is fulvic. And just to be clear, fulvic actually comes out of humic, okay? So is extracted out of humic. We can talk more about that if you want to talk about that. Let's just talk about the two molecules because they have incredible capacities. First of all, they both carry all of the minerals your body needs already pre formulated by nature in the natural ratios of minerals that your body utilizes. So, you know, if you're going to take calcium, you have to figure out how much to take. Or even magnesium is a good example, because if you take too much magnesium, you'll get diarrhea. You know, it will, because your body says, I've got too much. I got to get rid of this really quick, okay? So the beautiful thing about nature is, you see, since all cellular systems on earth require minerals to function, not just even to, like, you know, maybe get along, but they are required to function. Nature had to figure out how to get minerals already in the natural ratios that were necessary into the cells, because that's where the mitochondria, they're inside the cells. So humic molecule has all these minerals, and the fulvic molecule also has all the minerals. Now, if you take your hand and you put it in a fist and let's imagine that's the size of a humic molecule. The fulvic molecule is the size of the head of a pin. Very, very small. Okay? So the fulvic molecule is so small that it easily travels through your cell membrane into your cell. And what's even more beautiful is that your body recognizes fulvic as a beneficial substance. So any channel that opens in your cell, the fulvic gets a free pass through your cell membrane into your cell. And it carries 60 times its weight of minerals and nutritional elements into your cell. And then it does a other molecule that they know of on earth can do. It changes its polarity. So if you kind of imagine like a magnet, and maybe you have some metal shavings attached to the magnet, and if you turn the magnet off, those would all fall off. Maybe you've seen that in a YouTube video or something. That's what happens in your cell. So all these things are clinging to this highly charged fulvic molecule. The channel opens in your cell, the fulvic molecule goes through and when it gets inside, somehow it know to change its polarity. They're studying it all over the world because they don't know how it happens. And all those things drop off inside the cell. So it's delivered nutritional elements into the cell where the mitochondria can access them. Just that alone. I mean it's being studied by pharmaceutical companies, you know, as a delivery system. It's, it's incredibly. And when you study how that, that change of polarity happens, you get into quantum physics. So I call it a quantum molecule.
And this again. Yeah, this is where it gets really exciting because we think about the intelligence of the body again. Right. And I think that Humic and Fulvic are kind of having a moment or beginning to have a moment now because of the studies that you're mentioned. I think you're also one of the trailblazers in this industry and what really sets you apart, your work really differentiates between the synthetic or rock based versions versus the more complex plant based versions. So for people out there listening, can you just like, just you know, the one liner on why that matters?
Yeah, the main reason it matters is because the whole concept of supplementing single minerals is just a, it's just a big misunderstanding. It was scientists back, you know, many years ago who went in a lab and they were like, oh, let's figure out what's needed. And they came up with some model called recommended daily allowances or minimum, you know, daily requirements which have nothing to do with you or me or a pregnant woman or a performance athlete or a child. You know, they, it's completely different for each one of us. So you don't know what your body needs, but nature knows because nature solved the problem. So rock, shells and bones don't break down well in your system and your body struggles to absorb them for lots of different reasons. But plant based material that has this delivery system built in, it enhances uptake of nutrients in your body substantially and that means more energy production.
It's almost like turning the light on within. That's the analogy I keep seeing or the, the image that I keep seeing in my mind. I'm. I'm thinking of a lot of the clients that I work with who are suffering from digestive issues, whether that's low stomach acid or gut dysbiosis or just issue issues with digestion or what have you. A lot of people listening might suffer from those things. When I'm ingesting those minerals in order for them to get into the cell, maybe I'm Getting too nerdy on this, but this is what excites me. Where does mineral breakdown actually happen? Within the body. Yeah, so you mentioned I a few times. But if we have these like, system deficiencies, where does that happen?
Yeah, and this is the big thing is that I, you know, we used to say we are what we eat, but we're not. No, we are what we absorb and, and with minerals, it's what we assimilate. So there are three stages of this process of, of replenishing as opposed to supplementing. Supplementation mostly just goes in and straight out. Replenishment gets absorbed. It gets broken down in your gut. It gets absorbed through your gut lining into your bloodstream, and then it gets assimilated into the cells. And at each one of those stages, there are potential impediments. You mentioned some about, you know, the stomach acid or the enzymes that the, the good gut microflora that makes your gut work. Well, then we have inflammation of the gut lining, which means you have fewer good receptor sites for absorption into your bloodstream. And then ultimately things like seed oils which clog the linings of your cells so cell membranes are not as permeable. So that, and so all those things together mean that you can be eating a lot. I mean, this is why I say often weight issues of weight. People feel they're still feeling that hidden hunger intensely because they're actually not getting the nutrition from most of the food that they're putting in.
Oh, that's so good. All right. Absorption does not mean assimilation. Assimilation is so crucial. And I will go back to this over and over again before starting any protocol. And this goes back to ancient wisdom as well. Focus on the power of your digestion, quality digestion, heal your digestion. If you suffer from any digestive symptom, put all your energy in towards taking your time to see what your body needs so that you can actually absorb and then assimilate what you need. And I think when people are dealing with digestive issues or any other symptom that we've mentioned today, I think it's not uncommon to think that more is better. Well, I'm just going to take more. I'm going to double up on my dose. Can you tell us about when we're thinking about quality, how increasing your quantity isn't necessarily always better, whether it's capsule or liquid or what have you, because the body can't actually use it.
And this is the big shift. And you know, I really want to say to your listeners that if you are having gut problems and you are using salt based electrolytes, Consider stopping the salt based electrolytes. The metaphor I like to use is that if you think about a forest and think about a lush forest with beautiful undergrowth and maybe there's a stream running through there and there's clean air and there's big trees creating shade, and this environment is an ecosystem system in balance. Now go take a wheelbarrow of magnesium and a wheelbarrow of salts that are, you know, from like sodium and a wheelbarrow of calcium and a wheelbarrow of potassium and throw them somewhere on that forest floor. First of all, you have to recognize that the microflora and microorganisms in your gut, they're all freshwater beings. They are not saltwater beings. So your digestive tract is like the rivers and lakes on the earth. Your bloodstream is the ocean, but that's why it's salty. But your, your digestive tract is a freshwater system. So when you're using, and that often happens, you know, people are struggling, maybe they're doing keto or they're doing different low carb and they're, they're struggling with electrolyte balance. And then they're throwing large concentrations into an ecosystem and the ecosystem is completely thrown off balance. So the best thing you can do is stop putting these concentrations of salts, huge amounts of salts in your system every day. Give your freshwater system a chance to clear out and to instead put back in freshwater minerals, you know, useful, which are fresh water minerals. They're not salt based and they're the full spectrum in the natural ratios. They're going to support like I call it, it's like lifting all the boats off the sand at one time. You know, it's, they're, they're the best prebiotics you can provide to a gut that is struggling because.
You'Re feeding your freshwater system exactly what it needs. I've never said that before. Your digestive system is a beautiful fresh water system. I love that. Stunning. And it just absolutely makes sense when we think about absorption. And maybe let's hover on beam for a second. I see your beam bottles behind you. So beam minerals are the go to for all of my clients. I would say it's a staple in our household, not only for myself and my husband, but also for my children, for our new puppy as well, because we have to think about our animals as well. So can you talk to us about when you take these? Is there a time of day to, to best use them for better absorbability?
Yeah. You know, People use them in different ways, and it depends on your lifestyle and all sorts of things. They're the simplest tool you will ever have in your kit bag because you could simply take the half for a, for a normal person who's not a performance athlete or not doing intense workouts four or five times a week, you just use a half an ounce of our electrolyzed product and our microboost. They're two bottles, they go together. They're called the advanced set. And literally I throw them in my glass of water. I don't have it on my desk here because I already drank it today. It's like a 16 ounce glass of water. I throw it in there and I drink it. You know, I set it on my desk so I drink it over a period of time. But you could, you could just drink that. Okay. And it's going to taste just like water. Now at the same time, they. Because the humic and the fulvic have different capacities, some people also use them differently. So the, the electrolyzed product is the fulvic product. It's that delivery system for nutrients into your cells. Because you're going to be taking in nutrition all day, you could do this in the morning. Many people like to do that. They take the electrolytes in the morning because that's the pro, that's the tool that's going to enhance the nutrient uptake of all the nutrients that you take into your food and water during the day. So that's. You can do it that way as well. The other. So then we actually didn't talk about the humic. So the microboost product is the humic molecule. The humic molecule I call Mother Nature's janitor. It's a large molecule relative to your cells, hangs out in your gut and the bloodstream. It just travels around gathering up bio waste, toxins, heavy metals, free radicals, nanoplastics, glyphosate, just general toxins, viral detritus if you're feeling sick. You know, whenever somebody in our shop starts to get a cold, we're like, oop, take some microboost right now. It gathers up bacteria, all of those things and carries them out of your body. So many people like to do this at night because the body at night when you're sleeping is engaged in a lot of repair and clearing and, you know, respiration of the brain, all sorts of different things. And so that, so some people take this at night. So that's, that is the basics of, of our, of our products, but they're the Main thing is that you take them every single day. This is not. These are trace minerals that carry all of these. These complexes. Mineral complexes carry all the minerals in those balance ratios in very small amounts. But extremely bioavailable. Extremely.
Thank you for bringing that up. And for anyone who might be new to this podcast, I want you to know that if I ever talk about a product or a brand, it's because there's an actual love affair. It's something that I use, something that I trust, something where I've seen improvements with clients who also use it as well. Because I really want this. This to be information about foundational healing for the body. And I'll just share with everyone. So our family ritual. I often teach my clients what my meditation teacher taught me, which is rpm, rise, pee, meditate every morning. But then I always add in an H. Rise, pee, meditate, then hydrate. So every single morning I wake up, the first thing I do, I go into my kitchen, I prepare all of our water first thing in the morning for my husband, for my daughter, for my son, and for my puppy. And it's this beautiful ritual. And I feel like I'm kind of replenishing my body after a night of. Of detoxification and a night of sleep for my coffee lovers out there. I think that this is also highly beneficial before your morning cup of coffee. And I think over time, what I noticed, and I noticed this because I took a month off and then I went back on, my energy actually improved first thing in the morning and I started drinking less coffee, which is a huge, huge sign. And this is not medical advice at all. But my daughter had a stint of psoriasis that showed up on her elbow. And when I reintroduced the micro boost, it actually subsided significantly. Significantly. And that to me, goes around supporting her body and that concept of detoxification because God, who knows what is glyphosate, especially with children's food and snack products. I think it's so important that we do whatever we can to really support our children and those foundations as they grow. Because it is stress on the body. Right? So thank you for that share. Yeah, can we maybe go back to just talking about stress and the reason why I want to do this with you? One, because of the story that you shared when we started the podcast around the period of stress that you had to endure. 2025 for so many of us. I don't know about you, but I was crawling to the finish line and it actually doesn't feel like we've started a new year I feel like I'm still crawling a little bit. And as a practitioner, practitioner, I know that stress has a biochemical reaction within the body. I notice immediately how the quality of my digestion actually decreases. And the reason why I think that supplementation with minerals right now is so key, because with poor digestion shuts down that mineral uptake that you mentioned. So can you talk to us a little bit around, like, forecasting for the year ahead, ahead for people who are experiencing stress? Why you really feel that the power of minerals is something that should be accounted for for all of us?
You know, we really go back to the, that light with the dimmer on. You know, if you're, if you are living your life with only 600, 800 watts of electricity every day, and on top of that, you're getting hit with, with double the amount of stress that we've ever experienced as humans. You can only, you know, you can only like, go, okay, well, what can I do? You know, it's, it's a downhill battle. You don't, you're not going to gain that momentum. And this is the thing that's so the reason that I am out here every day, Mona, talking about this and the way I, the reason I, I wrote a book called the Mineral Reset, which I'm really excited to bring to the world, because what if it could be so easy? What if you don't have to, you know, find the energy to go to the gym three times a week and you don't have to? I'm not saying you shouldn't, but I'm saying, you know, what if you don't have to turn over a new leaf or do, you know, years of therapy and you don't have to, you know, lose weight? And you know, what if that could all happen, all of those results that you want from those activities could happen much more easily by supporting at that absolute foundational level. Because doing all those things when you're only generating half the amount of energy that your body needs, that's a hard uphill battle. But if you had the support at that very fundamental level, the stories that we hear are so, so beautiful. We, we have what we, at our company, we call it Testimonial Tuesday. And our customer service sends messages that he, they've received from our customers into a channel that everyone can read. And hearing how these minerals have changed people's lives is, is so exciting because it's hard to change, and especially when you have only half the amount of energy you should have. And then we have a lot of shame. And we, we, you know, say oh, I'm not strong enough. I'm not, I'm just weak willed. I'm. You don't have enough money to get healthy. You know, all these. When really it's just so simple as your body just needs the full spectrum of minerals. Like what if it was really easy?
What if it was really easy? Oh my gosh, can we please lead with that? My next question was going to be that you, your book, the Mineral Reset. I know about your love and your passion to take this information out into the world. And the reason why I'm so attracted to it also is because I'm so sick and tired of the narrative New Year new you. There's something about you that you need to fix or to optimize. You are perfect as is exactly the way that you are. And if your body is communicating with you some symptom that you feel like you suffering, that you're suffering with or that you have been suffering with for a long time, it's simply a communication system within your body telling you to tune in. And Ayurveda has known this for thousands of years. It's just there's something that's, that's missing within that we need to pay attention to, to, to bring the body back into that balance or homeostasis that you mentioned before. So if you had, you know, this grand intention of the mineral reset going out into the world, what do you want people to understand from this book?
There are, there's, there's like three things I want them to understand. The first is their body is an ecosystem, a natural ecosystem. And it is connected to the earth's ecosystem. We are not separate from the earth's ecosystem. We are part of the earth's ecosystem. We've gotten disconnected because we disconnected that sustainable loop. But we can easily reconnect it by using plant based fulvic and humic minerals. And when we support from the bottom, from the very foundation, miracles can happen. Because guess what? You are miraculous, beautiful.
And look, if any of this, I always catch myself like if any of this sounds too woo woo. Over the past 15 years when I guide my clients to healing, I asked them to go to a place where they feel most at balance, where they feel peace, where they feel alive. Every single person mentions that they go to nature. And when I lived at the ashram, the, the swamis that lived there, every single day they would make, they would prioritize going into the ocean, into the ocean for the energy that that gave them to connect with Nature again to support them in detoxification. But it's really this acclimation that happens, right? So hopefully you're understanding this power to nature. Hopefully you live somewhere where you can get yourself into nature. But gosh, the studies stay even proving, like we can listen to sounds at home that are of nature and that impacts our physiology. When you think about what you're looking at in your environment, make sure that there's scenes of nature up, you know, that you can, that you can see every day. I feel like it's this anchoring cue to the body to remind us. And maybe you're doing this right now. You might be. You're right. You know, it's like take this exhale. You take an exhale, and when you take that exhale, that's your parasympathetic nervous system coming back on track when your body starts to heal. So that is a profound message and we're going to make sure that we link out everything to your book. As a nutritionist, if you are a practitioner listening to this right now, this is a message that we need to get out into the world for foundational healing. And I really can't think of anyone better than you to be a voice for this. Thank you so much for sharing your work and your story. And maybe we can finally put to rest, you know, some people might be listening and they might be thinking, well, Caroline, you know, I take a really great multivitamin and that's got to be it. That's got to be good enough. Do you have a message for those people?
I say your body can live without vitamins. It cannot live without minerals. It cannot live. I mean, literally, you will expire in a few hours without minerals that. Those macro minerals that you need.
Yeah, perfect. Something that really excites me also. Not only this connection to nature, but when I think about aging. Right now we've got this lens of longevity that is everywhere in media. And I think it's a lens that is fear based. We're scared of getting older, we're scared of aging, we're scared to look older as well. And the connection with aging and your body's fascial system, is there a connection with minerals in the body's fascia?
Just talking my language, you know. Again, I'm going to go back to the very foundation that the body is an energetic system. It is a vibrational system. And the fascia are like. Is like the network that holds that all of that frequency. So and, and different frequencies can get stuck in the fascia trauma Gets held in the fascia. You know, they, they talk about that. So if you can, if you can change the frequency that your body is operating on by putting the frequency material, the frequency carrying material, which is minerals. If you, if you're, when you're very mineral depleted, your body cannot carry frequency. That's why you feel brain fog, because the electrical connections aren't occurring. That's why your muscle cramps, because the electrical connections aren't happening so that your muscle can relax. I mean, on and on and on. All of the biosynthesis processes, they all require multiple different minerals to do, to be, to create an enzyme, to create a protein, all of these things to create, you know, the thyroid hormones or your, your reproductive hormones, all of those require minerals. So the fascia being that frequency carrying system that infuse is infused through every, pretty much every, not all tissue, but many tissues in your body. The minerals are underneath it. They are supporting healthy fascia.
Wouldn't it be a beautiful way to unlearn aging as we know it and longevity as we think it's going to happen? That's fear based. And instead like God, what if there is just this incredible wisdom within the body? What if our fascia is this conductive communication network within and if we just give that attention and we give it the minerals that it needs and then we unlearn that aging has to come with feeling stiff and hunched over with all the symptoms that we hear so prevalent in today's world. And from then I wonder, and I really just want listeners to take away, what if healing could be that easy by simply focusing on the foundational health of your body, the communication of minerals and how that works to conduct that electricity that you need to go out into the world with electricity and vibrancy every day. What if. What a remarkable concept. And I think this is something that we're all ready to return to. Let's turn down the noise on what, you know, people and society and practitioners and protocols and gurus and influencers are saying to do and then just come back to the truth, which you so beautifully talk about.
Yeah. Awesome.
All right, well, to wrap things up, I want, we're going to link out everything below. Is there another takeaway that you want to, if you were to forecast something on the future of health when it comes to minerals, what do you see?
You know, we've, we. There's been so much focus on gut health and of course the gut is so important. But I am absolutely clear that minerals are the vanguard of health. They are the Next frontier in helping people understand that foundational support, you just watch it is the frontier of health and wellness.
I'm going to share more content on this and tag you on all of it so that we can make this go viral. All right, awesome.
Let's do it.
Caroline Minerals.
Just imagine what can happen in the world. I mean, that's one of my things, is if you could. If just more people could have enough energy to just get off the couch, you know, to just smile at their loved one, to, you know, bring their. Bring their whole self wherever they're going. Like, I mean, we always say we're changing the world one cell at a time.
I love that. And I think about even the capacity to look at global events right now when we turn on social media, the doom, the gloom and the fear that's there. I think then that when we prioritize the cellular health that you're talking about and increasing the body's electricity, we're able to go out into the world without that impacting us as much because we hold a higher frequency. And the more that we can all hold a higher frequency together, that's when the. The change happens. And you're such a perfect bottle. I think the first thing that I ever said to you is like, why is your skin so glowing? How is your hair so full? And you obviously just have this energy to you. You light up a room, so can't wait to see you in person. Minerals. Exactly.
It's the minerals.
I'm chasing you, sister, with your minerals. All right, to wrap things up, can you tell us maybe something about the future of health or healing that you feel really excited about? Maybe beyond minerals, but you mentioned quantum earlier. Is there something that comes to mind?
You know, I. I think it's. Women's health is the thing that's most exciting to me. You know, there hasn't been as much attention historically to that. And as a result, women have always felt that there's something wrong with them, that they need. They just. They're just. They need to be fixed, and they haven't honored their natural rhythms, both in the month and in a lifetime. And I feel like this. This shift that's happening with women's health is going to change so much. It's going to change women's relationship with themselves, which is going to change their relationship with men, which is going to change the world. So that's. I am most excited about supporting women in learning how to support their natural rhythms and the natural, like, the foundation of their health.
I love that. So much, ladies. We know it intuitively. When we feel our best, we can move mountains. Thank you so much for being a cheerleader for that. Thank you so much for coming back on. Check out the link links below. Please go get the mineral reset book by Carolyn Allen and incorporate the beam. Let me know how you feel when you start remineralizing your body. Please send me a note. Send Caroline a note. I don't know about you. We love hearing back from people. Those testimonials that you heard, I just, I love them as well. It's living proof.
