Mona Sharma asks when you last felt truly healthy and happy, then argues that healing isn't something you chase. Your body can't heal when your nervous system is dysregulated. Real wellness starts with balance, not pursuit.
When's the last time that you actually felt healthy, happy, safe, joyful, all the things that you're seeking now? Would you agree that the body cannot.
Heal in a.
Dysregulated.
State when we are in that sense of danger? We have those two branches of the nervous system, right? The parasympathetic rest, digest, repair, you're safe and then that sympathetic state, that fight, flight, freeze, go, alert type of response in the nervous system and both are needed. I mean that's what heart rate variability is measuring at all times and we're supposed to be like a ping pong between the two at all times because we're always filtering an enormous amount of information around us so we're meant to be flexible and to be moving between the two. But a lot of the demands of modern life have us leaning towards that sympathetic dominance and the research is robust that if we don't enter a state of relaxation, a sense of safety on a cellular level there isn't that healing.
