Neonicotinoids (described in the transcript as the most common pesticide class in the U.S. and as a neuroactive substance).
I just want to call this out. I think that nature teaches us everything that we need to heal. Like, I think nature also provides us with everything that we need and with everything that we're learning around the gut microbiome, around variety and diversity being so essential and key to our immune health. Then you have bees mirroring this and having their population thrive.
These are a total mirror. Also, it's been really interesting to see just how damaging pesticides are for the bees. The most common class of pesticide in the US is called neonicotinoids. It's a neuroactive substance and so it affects the bees facial reasoning, it affects their brains and it affects their long term health. And we don't really know what neonicotinoids are going to do to our bodies in the long term. But seeing what they do to bees, knowing it's a neuroactive substance, it makes me feel really strongly that we should try to avoid them at all costs. So stopping biodynamic when possible. Farmer's markets, where you can actually have the conversation.
I think it's also one of the easiest things that people can do, like just taking a stand for your health by understanding where your food comes from, where anything that you consume, just know where it comes from, know the people behind it, know what it's exposed to, because that's exactly what you're digesting.
