Mona Sharma and a guest explore why anxiety persists even when you're grateful. Naming what you're anxious about helps pinpoint the root. Embodied practices like anxiety walks, cold plunges, and meditation regulate your nervous system, especially when anxiety echoes unresolved childhood experiences.
Still, like something's off. I don't feel good. Life on the outside. I should be so grateful, but I have anxiety every single day. How did you let go of the guilt that wasn't there for you to carry?
I think because I give it a name. If I wake up with anxiety, I know what the root is. And I either need to go meditate, go for I call them anxiety walks. I just move my body. Get outside in nature.
Right.
Or get in a cold plunge.
Right. Processing.
Processing.
As we learn more and more about nervous system regulation, it's not always the here and now. The event that's happening, happening in this moment is the thing that's causing you anxiety. But it's the resonance and the memory within you that's triggering the anxiety nerve that you might have held onto since childhood.
