Mona Sharma talks to a guest about why ADHD diagnoses are rising in children. They point to refined carbs and sugar triggering ADHD-like symptoms, modern birthing practices leading to underdeveloped airways and sleep apnea that mimics ADHD, and gut microbiome imbalances affecting neurotransmitters and focus.

What do you believe are the key factors? Then? If we go back to add adhd, what are the things that are causing the rise in those, but especially within children?
For some kids, ADHD is very much a metabolic condition, meaning that they are having too many refined carbs and sugars put in their diet. Another example, children, because of nutritional deficiencies and because of modern birthing practices, they end up having underdeveloped airways. They develop sleep apnea or sleep disordered breathing. So these kids are not sleeping through the night and what happens is they look like they have adhd. Another category could be toxin overload. The microbiome creates all your neurotransmitters and what's contributing to behaviors and inability to focus and attention oftentimes is related to the neurotransmitters and biochemicals that are coming out of your gastrointestinal tract.
