Mona Sharma explains how the hours before bed and after waking shape your nervous system and healing. By priming your body for safety through daily routines, you can recover from chronic symptoms instead of treating them as failure.
We think about our restorative time as just the sleep time, but it's not. It's the couple hours prior to bed and then a couple hours after waking.
Right.
And what you're choosing to do in those times, and I think part of your journey, just as an outsider, the miracle that people need to be reminded of, of when you do those things for your body, your body has the ability to heal, to function. You've optimized the terrain. Your nervous system is primed, your body feels safe. It can receive the benefits of everything that you're doing. So talk to us about what it means to live with regenerative health.
So the idea of being regenerative really starts from the outside. We start with the breath and the nervous system, and then within that is the immune system. And then within that is our health. Once we get into that central area, that's where our health is. But we really have to learn how to calm the nervous system. And unfortunately, modern conveniences are all designed to captivate our attention. And as a result, you know, we're being assaulted, as you said, we're constantly being assaulted with all of these things that are so tempting and they're hyper palatable in terms of food, that are hyper palatable in terms of media.
