We got newly dubbed Dub Moses Moody in front of us right now, talking about the season and just being here in the Bay and all of that, baby.
Oh, yeah, it's been all good, you know, just getting out here, getting adjusted. It's cool.
Moses, is this your first time, like, on the West Coast? Because I know. So are you originally from Arkansas and that's where you played your college ball?
Yeah, I'm from Little Rock.
Are you? Man, I got family in Forest City. That's where my mama from, so I know how it is, man. You feel me? That Razorback life coming out to the Bay, so it's a little different, ain't it?
Little bit. A little bit. I. I've been playing for a while, though, so, you know, aau, that's. That's taking me or took me all around the country. I was out in Florida for a while, so, you know, I done got pretty adjusted.
Okay.
How does it feel coming to this team specifically and, you know, with all the. The championships, the achievements, you know, the other players who are on this squad who are, you know, we're. We're looking at hall of Famers that you're stepping onto the court with. How does it feel coming into this specific environment as, like your first professional basket?
Yeah, I mean, as you could probably imagine, just being a. Well, me being a young kid watching the. Watching the Dynasty, watching everything that, the. That the Doves and did in the last couple years, I'm. I'm actually in. In the environment, in the. In the locker room, on the court with these guys now. So that's just.
That's crazy, man. I saw you did a recent interview saying that Damian Lee has been the warrior thus far that's giving you kind of the. The most advice, kind of taking you under his wing. What is. What's some things that he's kind of helped you learn as you get to continue to get acclimated to this new league?
Yeah, I mean, he just taught me a lot of little things. There's no he. No really just big. Oh, I'm going to mentor you. I'm going to teach you this, teach you that. But, you know, just a dude that's a real dude that's really just going to help me and talk to me all throughout the way. Juan as well, he been doing a lot, too. There you go.
That boy Juan Toscano.
I mean, you know, the Bay Boys is going to definitely go ahead and just reach out, you know, when folks are new and kind of get you a little bit acclimated. In different things like that. Has there been a lot of. Because obviously, you know, like you said you've been playing a, you played in college, like, you know, you've gotten out there. We saw you on summer league this year, balling out, you know, and doing your thing out there. Is, is actually sitting here watching some of these guys practice. Like something that's, you know, even giving you a little bit more insight coming into how, you know. Because the NBA, regardless of what you've done before, is going to be a different monster. Right. Like, has watching some of these guys giving you some context about, like, what you're, you know, stepping into this year?
Yeah, most definitely. Because, you know, some of the older guys, the vest, they don't really like right now. And before training camps really started, they do like more individual workouts and everything. So I just be sitting back watching them when they, when they put shots up or doing what they do. And that's, that's the, that's the crazy part, you know, just being able to, being in, being in this environment and that's normal around here, you know, Anybody else sitting there watching it like I am.
Yeah, right, right. So I do have a question, man. Being that you're a first round draft pick, are you feeling any pressure? But I mean, let's not forget that guy Klay Thompson is kind of right there in front of you. I know. I don't know if he going to be ready by the time the season start. So you think you're going to be ready to step on that court, man, as soon as y' all kick things off in the preseason in, in October?
Yeah, I feel like I'm gonna be ready. I mean, there's definitely pressure there, but. Pressure? Just motivation to perform. So that's, that's all I, that's all I got. That's what I take it as. And I'm gonna be, that's gonna be motivation for me to prepare to, to be ready to perform until that time comes.
I heard that now off the court, you kind of a youngster, man. You know I'm talking about. So what are, what are you, what are you trying to, what do you do to kind of fill your time? I know you're not hitting the clubs all like that or anything, so what are you, what are you doing to, to fill your time, you know, outside of Chase Center?
To be real right now, I just been chilling. You know, I'm new, new to the area. I don't know everybody like that, but, you know, everybody, they, they've been Showing me around, showing me things to do. So I'm really just trying to figure that out now.
It's mostly just you and your PS5.
At the crib, right? Matter of fact, I ain't even got the PS5 at the CR. So really, I just been trying to get my crib together, you know, getting the couches and the bed, the furniture and all that.
There you go.
My mom's still out here, so, you know, we've been hanging out.
There you go.
Helping. Yeah.
Get acclimating.
What's been, like, something that, you know, you're looking forward to, you know, stepping into yourself and into this new area and different things like that. Like, is there, like, a crazy purchase that you want for the crib that, like, you want to just, like, PS5?
Apparently that too, when you could get one.
You know what I mean? But, like, are you into, like. You know, some people are, like, into, like, crazy art or they're into, you know, certain things that they want in their space to kind of make them feel comfortable. Is there something that, like, you want a good bed in that space?
Yeah, I just got me a good bed.
Did you see you need rest?
Yeah. It is some art pieces that I want, though. You know, I ain't never been in this. In this tax bracket before. A lot of new stuff coming up, coming my way. But, yeah, that's definitely something I'm looking into now. Trying to get me some nice art.
I'm gonna switch lanes off of what y' all talking about. So mama's still here. Obviously. She's probably been your biggest supporter through this whole thing. Like, you was just hitting the courts when you were young. Because, I mean, I'm not a huge, like, basketball person. Like, I couldn't tell you your stats or whatever, but everybody's saying that you're an incredible player. So, you know, I believe my folks and whatnot. I'm saying, like, what part did your mom play in your whole growth and, like, coming into this game?
Yeah, you know, that's the. That's the foundation. She didn't. She didn't motivated me. She didn't got on me. She there. She. Every step of the way. And my dad as well, you know, he's another figure that's been. That's been there for me, and he's just mentoring me, somebody to talk to after the game.
Yeah.
You know, and they. And they both. They both do a good job. And not sounding like the fans, they gotta. They got a different perspective.
Yeah.
Keep it grounded for another. For another. For another voice.
So when mama goes home, what are you gonna miss? Because I know she probably be cooking it up in the kitchen. You'll be like, mama, you're gonna have to special package me a little something.
Send me a meal.
Nah, I'm 19. Mama ain't going hard. She said she finna stay out here.
I ain't about to go to Bay Area and act up. I love it.
Yes. All right. Moses, man, thank you so much for giving us your time this morning. And we look forward to seeing everything you're going to do on the court. Don't let these fools talking about these champs and all this other stuff intimidate you. I heard your game is serious. And go out there and show out for the bay, baby.
Oh, yeah, for sure. Appreciate you.
Have a great season, Moses.
I got you. I got you.
All right.
