Skills Over Strength ?!?

Keegan Smith argues that rope flow, juggling, and footwork matter more than strength for long-term health and athletic foundation. He shares how he built a movement coaching business from modest beginnings and highlights students like Ben Patrick who transformed their bodies through skill work instead of heavy lifting.

My name is Keegan Smith and I'm 24 hours into a fast to improve my health. In this video, I'm going to share why, how I got from not making more than $50,000 in a year in my 20s to having friends all over the world, having properties around the world, and being able to help hundreds of other men to get to the next level. Freedom, the next level in coaching. It comes through what I just showed you. Juggling. That's been the pillar and the foundation of helping men to transform. Because you can go to a Tony Robbins event and you can be fired up, but are you really going to go home and change your life because you got energized in a room and you danced around and you maybe saw a different future for yourself? But what about if you were practicing every day to be someone who you didn't used to be? If you were able to practice every day to be someone who you didn't used to be, then that would become a habit. And it's easy to doubt yourself when you're listening to me, when you get home from that event. But what you can't doubt is the skills March. This year, I didn't know how to do the rope. I started it in around May this year. Now I can rope flow. But what I'm excited about more than the rope flow is that it's another tool where I can help men to connect their left and right brains. If you study the brain, you will find that things that balance the left and the right, the energies of the left and the right, are going to be positive for the outcomes of your mind. They're going to help you to be able to be the kind of person who can do new things, who can learn new things, who can make more money. And the fun is in doing that. The fun is in learning new things, making more money. You might look at this with the rope and think like, well, you know, I'm not really into my martial arts. Why would I. Why would I care about this? Look more into the feet. The clue is in the feet more so than the hands, in my opinion. If we can get the timing of hands and feet, get the rhythms, get these transitions through the spine, the spinal engine, then we can help to put to work all that we do in strength. I love powerlifting, I love weightlifting, I really love atg, I love bodybuilding. But none of it can give you what the rope is giving you. And it's not meant to. But we need new frameworks around skills. We need to recognize that skills are More important than strength. If I was only to train like this and stay healthy, I'm not going to get hurt myself doing this. But I can continue to get more aggressive with the positions, more explosive. I'm going to be fine for life and I'm going to have amazing coordination as well. Balance, this is actually a lot more important. It's going to prevent the falls in the elderly. It's maybe not going to do as much for bone density, but if I had to choose between being skillful or being strong, I would choose to be skillful. Now it might be easier to say, you might think, well, you've already done the work in the gym for 10 years, so it's easy to say that maybe true, you don't have to choose, you can have both. But if you don't have skill, what are you doing? Like you're not thinking. Just because you play a bit of basketball doesn't mean that your foundational skills are good. We tend to get better and better at a sport as we lose our foundational athleticism. What we want is that athletic foundation for life. We want to get better and better at the basics. We want to get better and better acrobatically. And if we can do that, our specific abilities in the sport are going to get better and better. Ben Patrick talks about it a lot. Michael Jordan wasn't a one sport athlete. LeBron James wasn't a one sport athlete. Kobe Bryant wasn't a one sport athlete. Even Steph Curry's father made him take time off from basketball and not travel for parts of the year. As a man in his 40s who hasn't played a serious sport in nearly two decades, I could tell you that getting into this rope has changed the way my body feels completely. I bounce the basketball, I bounce the tennis ball, and I know that my body is synced up in a way that it wasn't synced up before. Now. I could already juggle, I could already do handstands and handstand push ups. But you can see that this is more like dance. And what the Spartans said was, the dancing ability is the key ability that we need. The thing is, you can start with just this pattern. Overhand, overhand, overhand, overhand. This will take most people 10 seconds to learn. But to put the footwork in and make that automatic, you can go a lot of places. You can bring those arms up so we get big spinal movements. We can lower the hips, we could take it down lower. Just this single one pattern is actually enough. And then you can do that same thing with, with the rope going the other way, this one's more uplifting. What have you got to lose? No one could explain the rope to me in a way that interested me. The idea of, okay, you're going to get your head over your foot, you're going to be over here. It's a great message and everyone's doing their best to explain it in the way that makes sense to them. What makes sense to me is that dance is the meta skill, dance is the big one. We want to be able to throw. And this is the rope is great for being able to throw. Practicing like a tennis serve, you might be like, well, that's an ugly tennis serve. It's not meant to be completely specific, but compared to a non tennis player, how much easier will it be for me to get started with serving, doing some rope serves each day versus if I wasn't going to be rope serving? Right. And then we also get that other side of the body as well. So we've got the backwards pattern. Go golf swing, follow through. Now you could go for a walk or you could train rope. It's this ability and this desire to continue to learn that has helped me to continue to grow and develop. Now have a house here in Bali, have a place, Montenegro, I have a place in Vanuatu. All that's missing is more men who have freedom, big ideas. I want to support that next generation of Ben Patrick's. Ben Patrick had around 5,000 followers. He's making around 2 grand a month online. His in person business wasn't doing anything when we started speaking and we spoke about big visions. And I said to him, this method that you have, what you've done here with simplifying the Polika method, applying it to yourself, applying it to the guys, the coaches that you're working with, this is revolutionary. This can change the world. And he believed it and it was true. The thing is, a lot of men can't believe that they could change the world. Now it looks obvious that Ben Patrick could change the world, but when I said that to him, it was ridiculous because nobody knew who he was. He hadn't done anything. The same possibility is there for you. The same possibility is there for me. This project where I'm standing right now is connected to the Bali Time Chamber. This time Last year or 18 months ago, February 2023, I was here and we spoke about the concept of Bali Time Chamber. It wasn't going to be Bali Time Chamber. It was going to be another Airbnb, another hotel, until we had the conversation and said, well, yeah, what if, what if it was going to be this, this men's thing? And Nico came up with many of the concepts within it and he was able to execute on it in such a beautiful way that I would never have been able to execute on myself, but I was able to, gave him enough belief and enough support to start that first event. And the first event there was. It was a full house. It was half guys from my network, half guys from Nico's network. And Luke Carter came, made a documentary. It was just the brotherhood. It was the brotherhood that drove it forward. That energy behind what he was doing got that documentary out the next month. It was empty the next month. It didn't work. Nico had to do something else. So he worked really hard on the Instagram strategy for it and he solved it and he made it work. You can solve it. You can make it work. I'm not telling you that I can solve everything for you, but I'm telling you that within the network that I have of hundreds of super successful men, you're probably going to be able to get some support. It's probably going to be worth more than a couple of thousand dollars for you to be able to. Or even a couple of hundred dollars, which you can start with, for you to be able to get a completely different path in your life. If you were to come here and hang out, there's going to be guys here later on in this week. We're going to be training right here. If you were to open up that future for yourself, that possibility, what would happen? I'm going to be there in Australia, Byron Bay, around January. I'm going to be having a reunion event with men who were in real movement. So helped over 100 gyms to open with real movement back in 2014, 15, 16. And so it's been 10 years now since I started working with men online. What we see is huge changes are possible any man, regardless of where they start. Some men have drug issues when we start. Some men have alcohol issues. Some men don't want to have families when we start. Some men have big debts and they're really poor. I don't know what your story is, but I know that I was in a tough spot for a lot of my teens, a lot of my 20s. And I wish there would have been someone who would have created a network like this that I could have been a part of, positive people around the world. I went and traveled the world, but I went searching for a culture somewhere that I could be a part of. That would do something good. We have that now. We have that with, with uncommon success. We have the success stories. We've got guys like Liam who was working at Tesco's. When we started together, he was making 2,000amonth. His goal was to be able to make 2,000amonth so he could leave Tesco. He's had multiple $10,000 months now and he's part of the team for building out on common success. He's in his early 20s, I think he's traveled now like 15 times. He's currently in Cyprus. He's probably going to come to Bali directly after Cyprus. And you know, he's, he, he's a great young man and he's living an exceptional life now. But he wasn't then he was driving Tesco and he wasn't too proud to be able to listen to the things that we were suggesting while he was driving Tesco. And then he made a connection with Justin Moocci, with Evan Keane, with Karim and they masterminded together to blow up their social media. So now the combined following is nearly 500,000, maybe a little over 500,000. And they're great at helping other men. So the next generation who've come in, they're not just getting support from me, but they're getting support from those guys. And this is how it works. This is the dream, this is what I wish would have existed for myself. And so I'm so glad and grateful that I get to offer it to them. The the best place to start. If you're really skeptical of this, just learn the movement, get your brain going. Strength will help. And if you can organize your diet as well for a brain optimized diet that will help you to get started with this, help to clear some, some space, bring some more joy into your life just based on the biology. But it's really skills is where it's at. Skills, it's where it's at. If you can develop uncommon skills, if you can be able to move your body, consistently improve the way you move your body, everything will open for you. And I understand that it's not always easy. Understand that sometimes you're tired, sometimes you're busy. But that's the thing that nobody can deny you. If you've got the physical skills, People can tell you that your business isn't going to work. There's no way you're going to get geographical freedom that you could settle for. You should settle for safety. You should settle for whatever your government tells you to do with your money, with your health, but you can't deny that. I'm 41, obviously natural. I'm able to stay lean because I have a good diet. I'm able to stay strong because I train. I've been able to overcome all these health issues that really, really bothered me and held me back. I don't know exactly what it is that you need, but I know that within what we're doing here, there's a place for healing, for learning, for growing. You don't have to be world class to be able to make 10 grand a month online, 20 grand a month online. If you want to make a million a month like Ben Patrick, business is turning over. More than that, it's going to take something more special. Bali Time Chamber. It's a powerful business and it's one of the top ones. I don't know if you can get to that level, but the fun is in testing yourself and seeing what happens. Often it takes about four years. Ben Patrick and I started working together 2018. We're talking every day, and he gave me probably more than I ever gave him. But I believed in him and I knew that he was going to do something great. And I pushed his message out to my whole network. And that initial thing, we had 500 coaches in real movement, and they were all learning from Ben Patrick. That thing of having 500 coaches saying, yeah, what do you got to say, Ben, how do you do this? How are you doing your social media? How are you training? How are you training the athletes? That was the foundation for ATG for Coaches, which was my business initially. I started that to support ATG because I could see it was going to blow up before it went on Joe Rogan. And the fun is in seeing, okay, who's, who's next? What's the next project that we can do this with? I was Talking with an AI movement project this morning. Company's worth about 30 million, maybe more. I would love to support that business to get to the next level. I'm connecting him up with other men in my network who are great at scaling sales processes, these kinds of things. But I also speak to men who haven't made their first dollar online and don't post on social media. Scared of posting on social media. It doesn't matter what level you're at. The fun is in going from wherever you are to where you, where you could be, where you want to be. And if you commit yourself, every year, there's a big change day to day. It's a bit difficult to see, but you might notice Okay. I can do a skill that I couldn't do before. This is a good one. If you haven't done it yet. The football. Four ball, start, start. Four balls at the same time. Throw all four up in the air, bring two of them down, and you continue on from there. Sometimes it's easier to believe in someone else's belief in you. If you need someone to believe in you, you will find that within this network. If you're someone who's able to show up, to jump on a call, to share a message, to come to an event, then you can probably do what these other men have done. They probably weren't any further ahead than you, but now they're making all sorts of money, they're having all sorts of fun, they've got all sorts of friends, they can do all sorts of athletic things. They get to be a different father, different husband. So start with the skills. You can join Uncommon Universe for free. Uncommon Athletic is currently open to anyone to join as well. We're setting that up for launch in 2025. We're going to have the strongest, the best community of skilled and strong athletes. Something completely new that hasn't been done. Breaking down all the borders, all the barriers. I love all the systems, I love functional patterns, I love work method, I love atg. I love weightlifting. And you do, too. And you don't want to have to pick teams and fight between, you know, I like. I like squats and I don't like squats. That's. That's not taking the world forward. If we understand how it all fits together, then we can really take the world forward. And that's what we're going to do in 2025. So the links are there. If you want to get involved and the opportunity is open. It's never going to be as easy, it's never going to be as cheap as it is right now. We're about to go through a massive new growth phase, which I'm excited to talk to you about shortly. But those who are able to make moves are going to be more rewarded. So if you have other questions, you just want to have a chat, you want to discuss your position, then drop me a message. I've got extra availability at the moment. I'm here in Bali with my family. Let's do this. Let's build something beautiful, let's travel the world, have a life, appreciate you.
