The Poly-Athlete

Tamir returns to basketball after 17 years and picks up ping-pong. The conversation covers how juggling and handstands build athletic skills across sports, and introduces a $69 training program based on this cross-sport approach to movement development.

So we're about to go on train here in the gym and we found a nice quiet spot to record. This concept of the poly athlete and taking on skills that other athletes aren't taking on within your sport is very simple. The idea is that if you're doing things that other athletes in your sport are not doing, you can create a competitive advantage. It turns out that basketball players handle the ball better than rugby players because they get infinitely more touches and there's less players on the field. The ball moves faster. So we know that rugby players who have a background in basketball or even AFL tend to have better hands. This concept applies across all sports, across all movements. Tamir, you've recently begun your basketball career. Tell us a little bit about that.
Yeah, so I haven't played basketball for 17 years. Growing up, I played a few times, but then I always felt I was. Wasn't good enough and so I just didn't play the game. And then in the gym, will you be adding a little video after we cleaned up the gym and then put up a net and instantly there was. I have a lot of friction to just picking up the ball and throwing it. But I did and that opened the whole again, it's been two days, but it opened a new door of, oh, wait, I could do this and just play around. Once I did that. We also started doing the same thing with ping pong. So it was much easier for me. The friction to start was much easier for me to take this step also to the ping pong suddenly. And I'm sure that will also apply to many more, many more things that will be trying out.
So I did the same thing. The same thing happened with Sunny Bill Williams. I'll tell that story in a future message here, but if you enjoy this, please share it with someone who might get some value out of it. We have just launched Also with the $69 offer, training people in this method. It's never been available before for people to train in this way. We've done some juggling in handstands in the past. This is not just juggling in handstands. This is building athletes in a way that they've never been built before. I've been training like this for a bit over a year. It's modeled off the way that my son is developing his movement ability. I love it. We're about to train. I love it so much more than how I've trained in the past. We still do some heavy lifting, but there's a whole other side to it that I've never seen before that hasn't been done before. And we're working towards setting a new standard for mankind with this athletic stuff. It works for babies, it works for old people, it works for athletes. Whatever level you're at, whether you're wanting to take on a sport that has kind of schedule or whatever in the past, we all have these little barriers about I can't do a backflip, or I'm not the kind of player who throws a long ball or a short ball, or I don't step off my left, or I don't have good this and that and the other. And when you get this mentality of the new athlete, that stuff all dissolves and it becomes much more fun because you don't have so much fear. There's nothing to fear. Become great.
Yeah. All a game.
