A YouTube walkthrough and planning conversation led by Nichole Briscoe ("Mobile Home Mommy") with handyman Greg and homeowner Rashada about repairing and renovating mobile homes. They discuss materials (plywood, PVC), costs (plywood $40–$70/sheet; PVC $40–$70 for 10-ft; labor ~$800/week), timelines (about 1–1.5 weeks for general work; plumbing possibly 1–2 days), design choices (paint colors, gloss for cabinets, epoxy countertops), and the importance of vetted handymen with proof of prior work.
Questions this video answers
About $40 a sheet.
$40 to $70 a sheet.
$40 to $50 a piece (one comment suggested $70 for a 10-foot length).
About $800 for a week.
About one to one-and-a-half weeks.
Mobile home. Mommy. This what you did. Why you didn't do that for me? It look good.
This was. The tub was green.
I'll take you back to North Carolina with me.
Y' all.
Look at this camera. Oh man.
What put all them plywood in?
Yep. At least mid grade plywood, right? Yep. So in North Carolina is about $40 a sheet. How much is it running you all.
Somewhere close to that. 40 to $70 a sheet. What blew my mind was that three in PVC pipe we had to buy over here. $40. 40 to $50 a piece.
I thought it was 70. That was probably $70 for a 10 foot and we had to buy. Was it six or seven of them? Something like that. So basically the most expensive job to do in a mobile home you would.
Say is what electrical and the plumbing.
Yep. And then the roof if it needs to be replaced.
What would you think looking at this? We doing this walk through it would cost a remodel or you know everything we talked about that we're take this down or we just paint that. Just paint this. We'll put new carpet in here. We'll do linoleum or vinyl flooring in there. And then take this up and do linoleum and vinyl up until the rooms.
You said a week and a half time frame, not including the plumbing, right?
No, week, week and a half. I'm going to say probably right. About $800 for a week. I guess the term the painting onion in there.
800. Your price, not labor. Not including the material.
Labor.
Oh yeah. I'mma had to kidnap him.
Yo, yo.
What's going on?
Where am I?
Where are you now? Our materials. I don't know. And I know they haven't hooked it up yet, but I know you want to change all the piping out, correct?
Right.
It went. If it comes down to it, if we have, we turn the water on and then we can find out where all the leaks are.
Leaks are. Yeah. Now I will say this has been sitting up a long time. I know. Over five years. So we go ahead.
Yeah.
Because we don't want to run into the problems that. And what are some of the problems you ran into with my trailers as far as when we change out one little area. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. This is good.
So you, you said so your, your fee to do everything we just walked through and talked about would be at around 800. Not including like the supplies. We get the supplies. Okay.
Okay.
Yeah. We need to get. You said a week, a week and a half turnaround A little.
So are you fine with that?
Yeah.
I say deal. That's a deal.
Deal.
Thank you, Dia.
No, thank you.
I always add in a few extra days just because life happens.
You said about two weeks ago.
He said a week and a half. And then how much for the. How long you think for the plumb? You can do that in a day or two, right? Depending on how high she'll plumb.
Well, I still.
I know what he's done, though.
Yeah, but I have to go and see the issue. I haven't been up underneath there and see what I got to get into. We don't even know what the sewage line is like up underneath.
Oh, yeah. Did you see them when they move underneath, like, in the ground?
Because most times, if they're setting up, a lot of times they take the sewage lines and stick them inside the trailer where they can move them to the next one.
Yep.
But these right here, I hadn't seen that.
So how's the washer and dryer gonna get hooked up?
The dryer goes over here in the.
Wash. Oh, I see the dryer. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Okay, I got it. When you get started on this one.
I gotta get through her first. Oh.
Then after you finish with hers, you roll right on over to here.
All right.
So you're gonna finish with hers, what, two days? You said three.
I should be through with it by this weekend.
Okay. So I'll be getting ready to go back. I'll be getting ready to go back home by the time you ready to come over here.
Still can get your supplies while you're here, and just lock them up in.
One of my homes, but lock your neighbors.
I already know the paint I want. I already know the color paint I want. I'm gonna do, like, a grayish. Like when you guys help furnish for me, I'm gonna do, like, a grayish paint. But the cabinets paint those. Like what we should do like an eggshell or, like, a slightly white.
If you go with anything. Don't go with the eggshell. Go with gloss.
Last longer.
Last longer.
Easy to clean because I'm gonna be renting it, so, you know, I know white gets dirty, but the gloss, it'll still make it easy to clean.
Or plain black.
I know that sounded like a joke, but that is a great idea. What you think is different?
What you think?
I always do with his recommendations. Recommendations are probably the gloss.
White gloss. I bet you said white gloss, red. That's what we going with. This is my coach, and what she tell me to do, I do.
Got some black Cabinets. I painted in that house also.
Boy, look at him. He got all the pictures of his work.
That's dope.
This man don't play, man.
He got all the pictures, and I cut the granite countertop for it.
But, Greg, is it gonna look that smooth on these counters or you gonna have to sand them down like you gonna make. Can we make that match?
I have a plan.
I see. I want to be realistic.
Yeah, well, the only thing I'll be looking at is we can redo your countertops on here, recolor them with some epoxy.
Oh, with the epoxy, like you're gonna.
Do with a tub.
You heard that, Nicole? He said he can do redo the countertop with epoxy.
I had it done before.
So if you do that, you can even do like a. You don't got to be just white blood.
You can do. Right.
You can do like laminate. I'm not lemon. I can't think of the name I'm trying to think of, but Okay. I didn't know you can do that with the countertop. You do the linoleum like you're saying the Rustoleum like you do the tub. You can make it granite and all of that. Right.
You can put Blake in it and put white stuff and you get different color.
Yeah, I was gonna say, but he's gonna do the cabinets white gloss. You should just do the. We should just do the. The cameras the same. The same white gloss as well.
Ask him, since we're gonna.
If we're gonna do this white gloss, should we do the countertop the same white gloss or do some.
I would do it a little bit. Probably like a gray.
A gray. And we're gonna paint the walls gray as well. Okay.
Go with a different. Great.
For me. Okay. All right, cool.
Sounds good.
Well, y' all heard it from Greg.
Greg is the man. And he had the pictures. And he had the pictures back.
When you talking to handyman, you need to see proof. Yes. Roshada has been working with him. How many homes has he done for you? Oh, my gosh. Four. Maybe four or five, something like that. He is a right hand guy and he is the one has. Which has solved her. The less disappointment. Yes. Which is why she still has him around. Okay.
I'm just doing my job.
When you got a good handed man, you gotta hold him tight.
Don't not let Nicole take him to North Carolina.
Like he was gone away from it for a while. Somebody. He lost his phone and all his contacts.
Oh, man.
He had to get a whole nother number. But I found him. I said let me see if he on Facebook.
I'm gonna find him.
It's the last thing I do.
No stone will go unturned.
He was on Facebook. You found him on Facebook? I found him bad. That's how you know Greg is good. She went out and searched this man.
Ok, fight him. Where is he at? What's he doing?
What's his activity, his name, such and such.
I was wondering what she was such as.
I said, let me look online. Yeah. I'm telling you guys, that's one of the hardest things in the industry is finding a good handyman. If you can find a good handyman, make sure you pay him well. Make sure you take care of them. Especially when they give you a turnaround time, they stick by it. When he's walking you through and giving you honest estimation. And like he said, he shows us proof he's done five homes for her and he's showing us like, well, why don't you do this instead? Why don't you do this? I like it when handymen don't just walk in and say what you want done. Okay, yeah, I'll do that. They give you suggestions and options to also help you save money. I appreciate your time, Brad. This is good. Awesome.
Thank you girl. I appreciate that.
Alrighty. All right y', all, I'm tired. We are finally finished. We are heading back home. Heading back to North Carolina is been real out here in Tennessee. Rashada and Aaron just took care of us, dropped us off.
Safe travel.
Love you.
Let me know y' all made it.
Say all right together. What's up y'? All? It's Nicole Brisco, AKA the mobile home mommy. Thank you for sticking it out with me for this journey. We are now officially leaving Memphis, Tennessee. It's been amazing. We went through tsa. It was a breeze. We headed home y' all to see my students now starting their own group home. Both of them six figure earners. It really feels good. I'm excited and just know this is just the beginning. We got more coming mobile home mommy.
