Tidy Mom Camp - Day 3 Systems & Routines!

Design daily routines that actually fit your life. Start with three small actions like making the bed or a 10-minute tidy, then build from there with morning, evening, and weekend resets that work for your family.
Hi. There we are on day three of the challenge, and I'm excited to kind of mellow out a little bit and talk about systems and routines. This is a day where you can sit in your jammies with a cup of coffee and really start to think about what's important to you and what you want to make sure you get done in your day. And I'd like to focus on two things. One is, you know, your self care and things you need to do for yourself, plus things you need to do for your home and for your family. So I hope that when you look at your routines that you have, whether you have a good routine right now or not, or if you're setting up a new one, make sure that it's balanced and that you're taking care of stuff for yourself, for your home and for your family. So for this one, what I did was I created a worksheet. And on one side of the worksheet I have examples of a morning routine, different things you can put in your routine, your evening routine, and then also a weekend routine. And then on the back is a place where you can fill it out. And I made this one page and I put there's actually four spots, but on the tip section, I encourage you to start with three things. Trying not to overwhelm yourself. That's the one thing that a lot of people will do is they will fill themselves up and they've got an hour long routine and it just sets them up for failure. So make sure when you start a routine or if you reevaluate your current routine that you start small and then you incrementally add as the routine becomes more routine and you're used to it and you're just excited to add one or two more things. So again, there's a blank place on this worksheet for you to fill out a routine for yourself. And I put four slots in each one, but start with three. And then on this side I put different things. So for a morning routine, you might want to read in the morning, you might want to plan your day, you might want to get out and get 15 minutes of sunshine, or walk your dog or sit down and have breakfast with the kids, you know, you do whatever you want to do for yourself and for your home. Other things you can do is I put on here a 10 minute tidy that goes such a long way in making sure that your house stays organized throughout the day is 10 minutes. I love to go through the kitchen. My husband's good about this too. Put away Any dishes that maybe were out drying, wipe down the countertops. It just really starts your day off. And I love that. That's an important part of my personal routine. Make your bed. Do you make your bed now? It just feels so good. And you kind of, they say you win. You've already marked off one accomplishment for the day. If you can make your bed, you could set your intentions for the day. You could pack a healthy lunch. If you work outside of the home, you could pack your lunch or pack the kids a healthy lunch. So different things that you can do for your morning routine, for the evening routine, you could have some of the same things. Maybe you want to stretch before you go to bed, or maybe you like to wind down and read and you want, you haven't been able to do that. You want to start a routine of maybe reading for 15 minutes or 30, 30 minutes before you go to bed. Maybe you want to again do another 10 minute tidy. I do this, I love it. I make sure that the kitchen table is clear again, the counters, everything's nice and tidy. Maybe check your entryway, your landing zone. Maybe that's part of your, your evening routine. Maybe you want to read to the kids. Maybe you want to spend 10, 10 minutes with each kid dedicated. If you have little ones and it's just a little slice of time, but it's. You have such a big reward and if you just put that as part of your routine, you'll thank yourself. Maybe you just want to sit and list three things that you're grateful for. Maybe something happened and you want to go back and reflect on the day. Sometimes we get so busy we forget some of the good things that happen and we forget what we're actually grateful for. So that's a thing. Stop electronics. Maybe by 7pm you want to turn off all electronics and don't shoot me. I know some of you would hate that. That's okay. But some people want to do that. And one that I love to do and is really, really effective for me. I like to set out my workout clothes, put it actually in the bathroom so that when I get up, my workout clothes are all there. I can brush my teeth, get dressed, and I'm ready to go for the gym. I'm not having to think about what I want to wear and find reasons to not go. So by looking at your evening routine, you can even put things in your evening routine that help sets up your day for success the next day. And then the other thing is a weekend routine. And you may have heard of a Weekend reset. But that's very popular these days and very effective. Like maybe you want to do some things around your home. So some of the suggestions that I put maybe you want to wash your sheets, you want to do your family's laundry. Maybe on Saturdays you want to clean out your refrigerator and get rid of all the yucky stuff if things have been sitting there too long. Or just make sure you know what you need to eat in the next couple days right before it goes bad. Maybe you want to restock your pantry, few other things. Maybe you need to focus on getting more self care on the weekend and that needs to be part of your weekend reset. You could plan for your next week. I love to look at on Sundays in particular, I love to look at my week ahead and know what's coming and make sure I'm set up for success. If we need to be two places at once, we kind of sort that out, figure out who's doing what, divide and conquer. You can meal prep, right? Maybe you want to meal plan for the week, figure out what you want to eat, whether it's lunches or dinners. And then you can grocery shop and actually do the meal prep. So these are just some suggestions and this is by no mean a complete list. Your list may look totally different or what comes to mind for you that that's important. But what you want to do now is sit down, print this out, sit down and brainstorm. Grab a cup of coffee, grab a tea. I'm a tea drinker and I love to grab my tea, a pencil paper in my journal and actually think about things like this and look at it. And the other tip that I have for you is these are never set in stone. Write them in pencil or erasable pen so that you can change them down the road. You don't have to stick with this routine. If something's not working, revisit it and change it. And like I said, resist the urge to start with 10 things, pick three and then go with that for a week or two. See how it feels, see how it's impacting your day, change it up, add another thing at that point down the road once you've kind of mastered those three things. So I encourage you to print this out, it's linked in the email and give it a try. Definitely post in the Facebook group. For this day, it'll be day three. Let me know how it's going. Let me know what you put on your list. I would love to know what three, three, three things you picked for morning or for evening. Or the weekend. I. It would be so interesting to know. And I'll list mine in there as well. And hopefully you'll join the Facebook Live today and we can go over the same thing. Or if you need help brainstorming some ideas, I'd be happy to do that. So see you soon. Bye.
