In this talk, Noelle Russell explains that every technical discussion an engineer has is fundamentally a buying‑and‑selling exchange, whether the engineer is presenting ideas, products, or solutions, or listening to someone else’s pitch. She emphasizes that a solution architect should enter these conversations deliberately, fully aware of what they represent and aim to achieve. By staying on a straight line toward the desired outcome and resisting distractions—such as flashy features or tangential topics—engineers can focus on delivering the greatest possible value to the person they’re speaking with.
