Hello and welcome back to another episode of The Secret Property Club podcast, where we talk about the secrets of property investing. I am David Oliveira, your host, and today we will discuss the importance of networking. You know, they say that in property, your network is your net worth, and I totally agree, because building strong relationships with other property investors, property professionals, industry experts, that can open doors to incredible opportunities, and it will definitely help you accelerate your success. Just take a minute to think about this. Your network can give you a lot of insightful information about the market trends, about property strategies. They can actually give you access to off-market deals. Maybe they can introduce you to important people in the, in the industry, like like lenders, contractors, or even mentorship and guidance, which is really, really important to a successful property investment journey. They can also provide you emotional support, because being a property investor can actually be quite lonely and very, very challenging. So having this community around you, this network around you, can be incredibly valuable to your journey. But there are other ways to build a strong community around you without even having to go anywhere. You can use online platforms, social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok. There are so many, and you should be leveraging those platforms because they are free and they allow you to reach thousands of people that have never met you before. I forgot to mention YouTube and Snapchat. There are so many, many different opportunities online. It's incredible. You can have a podcast just like the Secret Property Club. It's free to introduce yourself to everyone out there. It's free to create content. It's free to build a community. Just remember that there are two types of people in the world. You can be a consumer or you can be a creator. You should choose to be a creator. And always, always share valuable information. Don't be greedy and just ask for what you want. Always try to share valuable information with your followers, with your subscribers, with your community. By sharing valuable information, you are showing that you are an expert your industry, and these followers will want to connect with you, will want to learn from you, and will want to support you. Some of them might want to do business with you. Now, I know that some of you might feel really scared to go to a property networking event, to a business event, or even just create social media content, but I'm telling you, it's only difficult when you start. After a while, you will start enjoying it and you will see the benefits that networking and social media content can bring to your business. So what do you do when you build that network? You have got to follow up. There is no point in go network, create social media content, ask for business cards from everyone that you meet, and then simply forget that you made that connection. As you build your list of contacts, you have to follow up. That's rule number 1: follow up, follow up, follow up. From time to time, you can share relevant information on the market with your contacts, you can let them know what is it that you are up to, you can offer advice, share your experiences, and that's how you build a business relationship with these people. You might be surprised how willing people are to offer advice, to give you a referral, and sometimes they even want to collaborate with you. They will send contacts your way, they will recommend you to other people, they will remember about you. Always tell people your name, your location, what you do, and when you meet them again, You repeat your name, your location, and what you do, because as they're having conversations and are networking with other people, they need to remember your name and where you are based, because they might be talking to your next business partner, so they need to have you in their mind. They need to remember what you do. This is a really good tip, so you need to take note of it because it's completely true. When I first started, no one knew who is David Oliveira, and now you can search for David Oliveira on Google or on Spotify or on LinkedIn and you will find me. You will find where I'm based and you will find my name and what I do. People tag me all the time on Facebook posts because they can see someone asking questions on a Facebook group and they remember and they tag my name and say, David Oliveira, can you help with this? So you have the power to do the same, and this is completely free. Social media really is a game changer when it comes to marketing. You don't have to spend thousands of pounds to tell everyone that you are in business, that you are looking for partnerships, that you are looking for properties, that you are looking for investors. It's completely free, so you gotta do it. But always, always, always remember that networking is about building relationships. It's not just about collecting business cards and having fun on a social event. You want to build genuine connections. You want to show people who you are, your character. Because if people know, like, and trust you, they will want to be connected with you. They will want to be part of your circle. And they will want to do business with you. But it takes effort and it takes time. But remember that the rewards of building strong business relationships can be very, very positive. You should actually see your network as a valuable asset that will become bigger and bigger and more valuable over time.
