3 Things I learned meeting Grant Cardone at Age 20

Cody met Grant Cardone and learned three things: pick one goal and stick to it, like owning 1,000 apartments by 30. Only renovate two-thirds of units in multifamily properties to leave upside for the next buyer. Real wealth comes from owning deals, not analyzing them.

Hey, what's up guys? This is Cody, and in today's video I'm chatting all about my experience meeting Grant Cardone and 3 of the major things that I got out of my visit getting to chat with him, ask some one-on-one questions. And with that, I'd like to kick off the video. Now I've been following Grant Cardone for a couple years now. I've read his books, I've been through his online university, his sales training, and I was sitting in the office just a few weeks back and I was thinking, okay, who do I need to meet to go to the next level? Who would completely change my life? I thought, oh, Grant Cardone, that would be the person I need to meet. So I called up his company, I sent a personalized video, I got in front of him and ended up flying out there just this past week. I had quite a few takeaways from the experience. However, I'd like to share 3 of them with you guys today. And one of them is that you can do anything as long as you don't try and do everything. On a deeper level, what that comes down to is that if it doesn't build towards your story, you probably shouldn't do it. I like to look at apartment buildings because it builds towards my story of getting to 1,000 apartments at age 30. That's my target, and that's going to build my story. I'm not going to deviate from that path. I'm not going to go buy fix and flips just to make money, even if it's a good deal. I'm focused solely on what's building towards my target because I have a reason behind that goal. It's a meaningful target for me. I'm not going to go buy self-storage because it's not the business I want to be in. I'm focused all in on one business so that I can grow it to the next level. So there I was chatting with Grant, and one of the knowledge bombs that he shared was that on multifamily apartments, when you're doing renovation projects, you only want to renovate up to two-thirds, maybe 75% of that complex. Now, the reason behind that kind of loops back into that first point of you got to build your story. When you go to sell, you have to sell a story. It's a sales pitch, it's a story, and the stronger your story is, the easier it is to sell. The more you're sold on it, the easier it'll be for you to sell it to the next person. That being said, if you can create a bunch of value on 75% of the deal, leave a little sliver to give to the next person. It allows you to sell the deal much, much more quickly. And the last note I'd like to share on this short video tonight that I learned from Grant is that you will never make significant money on a deal that you don't own. For those of you who are on the fence right now, you're in a position where you could pull the trigger, but you're not. On your first investment deal, or maybe you're looking at the next step in your investment cycle, you will not be able to make significant change in your life if you don't start with you and you don't make that change first. And so find the best deal that you can with the information that you've got, validate it with someone else in that market, and then pull the trigger. Make it happen, because you will not be able to significantly change your life if you don't start making those jumps. And that being said, that is all for tonight. If you guys enjoyed the video, please do subscribe. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. And as always, I'll see you guys next time.
