Car crash, missed meetings, lesson learned, road blocks

Cody, Christian Osgood, and Adam got stuck in a traffic jam on Snoqualmie Pass caused by multiple car crashes. They use it to explain why real-estate investors need built-in buffers for meetings with lenders, sellers, and contractors. Unforeseen events always derail timelines, so you have to plan for them.

Hey YouTube, it's Cody. Got Christian and my buddy Adam up there, and we're sitting in traffic and learning the lesson today about being conservative. This relates to real estate, it relates to business, and just day to day. We planned out our day, got to meet with a whole bunch of people, some of our lenders for the seller finance deals. We got to meet with some people that might be selling us more deals, got to meet with our contractor, our real estate agent. And now we're sitting in traffic because while we budgeted our time, we didn't have enough room for error, margin, or a buffer in the schedule. And now we're sitting in traffic in the Snoqualmie Pass because someone crashed in front of us and blocked all 3 lanes. And we're putting this out there because this relates to when you're going out and buying real estate. You can't forecast everything. You can underwrite the deal, you can project for some maintenance expenses, you can project for management. It's not always going to be full, but there's always going to be something that pops up. Today for us, it just so happens that there was a car crash. One happened this morning and blocked the pass. That got cleared up, and then another one happened. So we couldn't exactly forecast that, but Christian in the front.
Say hi.
Hey, what's up YouTube? We are just trying to get through this so that we can get on to our next meetings.
When you're out playing in the real estate space, if you're looking at buying deals, something's gonna go wrong. It's not if, it's when. And so if you know that going in, keep an eye out for it, but don't let that stop you from going out and doing deals. We do have a meeting that we're gonna miss here. That actually happens in the next 40 minutes, and we're over 40 minutes away from where we need to be. When you get there, you can make adjustments, but that's a good problem to have. And you're going to have problems, and the more problems you solve, the better off you are and the more likely you are to get to your goals. Because the more people you help, the more problems you solve, the more money you make. And money is a tool that allows you to go either help a lot of people or help yourself. And you get to pick and choose based on where you're at in your life cycle. So moral of the story today: you're going to have challenges that you have to face, but know why you're doing what you're doing, and you'll be able to overcome those challenges and make adjustments along the way as need be. So short video today, and as always, like, comment, and subscribe, and we'll see you guys next time.
