Carpet has a memory and you can smell it. I just bought this 76-unit building, $0 out of pocket, by the way. Every unit I've walked into, you can smell that it has carpet and they probably had a dog or two. It's not peed in, it's not gross, it just has that had-a-pet musk to it. What you want to do is you want to replace everything with floors like this. Simple LVP. It doesn't need to be crazy, but on affordable housing, it's a really nice look. It lasts longer, is easier to repair and replace, and you don't have to deal with the smell. You get my buildings like this, first thing I'm gonna do every time we rent out a unit, carpet gone.
