Crazy fire place upgrade!

When we started in real estate, we actually did the whole house hack thing. Get a roommate, buy a place, fix it up over time, have them help you with the rent. While that was awesome, we found out it wasn't for us. Yeah, we don't love roommates. So we took the proceeds for that, uh, it was about $100,000 we made, and we bought this house here. First, and one of the biggest upgrades we made, the fireplace. Dani, what did this look like when we first bought the place?

It looked not great. We did the stone, we redid the mantle, we redid the insert, and we redid the hearth. I think that's what it's called.

Yes, this is one solid piece of stone, which was my upgrade. The rest of this, all Dani. That stone right there, Christian.

We got together and we actually made this. This is the first thing you see when you walk in the door. So in an old 1955 house, this being the showpiece, if you walk right in and see this, much better than the other fireplace. You do these things over 5 years though, you get to build a home. We bought for $365,000, we're going to sell for $715,000. We got to live here, we got paid to live here. This is functional flipping.
