A landlord shows a renovated 3-bedroom unit he transformed with $30,000 in new flooring, cabinets, and paint from a space that housed a heroin user. He argues landlords deserve fair compensation for maintaining affordable housing, not the parasite label that applies only to slumlords who neglect properties.

Landlords are freaking parasites. Unless they have units that are like this. This was actually a heroin user's unit in a 76-unit family-friendly campus that was not so family-friendly when we bought it. This is how we renovate units. So if you're looking for the difference between a landlord and a slumlord: new floors, nicely painted walls. This isn't the fanciest place of all time because we want to keep the rents down because I love affordable housing. Turns out I actually want you to be able to afford to pay your rent. That's how we make money, and we like providing nice housing. Stainless steel, stainless steel, stainless steel, stainless steel. Nice cabinets, new paint, nice flooring all the way throughout. 3-bed, 2-bath, full garage on a beautifully manicured property with excellent landscaping. Yet still, y'all will find a way to hate me for spending $30,000 making this a safe campus and turning this unit. In the same way you go to your grocery store for food, you go to your landlord for housing. We spend a boatload of money making sure you have excellent housing. In exchange for that, I don't do this for free because it's a boatload of work. So here you are. You're welcome. Are landlords still parasites now?
