Christian Osgood argues against a policy requiring landlords to give tenants extra weeks of free rent before eviction. He says landlords already struggle in a difficult market and shouldn't bear the cost of broader social problems.

Help me make this make sense. So you have to give people an extra few weeks of free rent even though you're investing in a hard-to-invest-in market where they already hate landlords. You've taken out debt, you're offering a product. For some reason, it's the landlord's fault that this whole rioting and surge through Minnesota is happening. So we're going to go ahead and give people additional free rent before you can even start eviction proceedings on nonpayment. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Am I missing something here?
