Here's everything that sucks about going into the real estate business, part 1. Now, when you leave the 9 to 5, you go all out in real estate, you're becoming a real estate investor, you lose 100% of the support systems that you had as an employee. Like, your friends and family, some of them just love you and are going to support you anyway. So when they're like, "Oh yeah, go for it, we're rooting for you," it doesn't really mean that much when things get hard because they always root for you all the time. Or B, worse, they always wanted to be successful, an entrepreneur, they had this idea of starting a real estate portfolio, and when you're actively going out and doing it and proving that it was possible, the whole time, they're secretly rooting against you. Either way, that support that you had as an employee going through your career, you're no longer relatable to most of your friends and family. They don't really want to hear all that much about your real estate. In the first year, they're not going to believe that you're going to succeed. In year 2, they're like, well, maybe you just got lucky as the market conditions. Year 3, 4, it starts to sink in, like, wait a second, he went out and he did it and the companies are working. But you never get that same support you had when you were just a 9-to-5 or like anyone else. It's a very lonely business, but millions of dollars later, it does pay off. And eventually you do continue to make more and more relationships with people in the space who are doing the same thing. You just build a new community, but it will change your life and it will change your friend group. And for some people, your family dynamic as well. It's something to know. It legitimately sucks, but it's part of going into real estate full-time. When you succeed and you make a lot of money, it changes some of the relationships that you have in a really impactful way.
