Christian Osgood owns rental properties with military tenants who stopped paying rent during the government shutdown because they weren't getting paychecks. He says many are living on their last dollar and his team won't evict them, but the situation shows how fragile finances are for people who can't miss a single check.

It is crazy how much the government shutdown has affected some of our tenants. We have a lot of military tenants in the portfolio. It is ludicrous to me how many people are living off of their final dollar. There's a whole bunch of people have reached out and said, hey, I can't pay rent this month. I haven't received any checks. I don't know when my check's coming in. Now, of course, we're not evicting any of them and we're going to work with them. We're going to make sure that they all have housing. But it is ridiculous how many people are on their last dollar. And if they miss one paycheck, they're hosed. Crazy.
