A Stanford study found that patients who received intensive coaching and app support before surgery had fewer complications and lower inflammation markers than those who only got handouts. Comprehensive prehab addressing physical, mental, and nutritional factors produces measurable physiological benefits.

So this is fascinating stuff. I was just reading this study that was done at Stanford, and it looked at the importance of prehabilitation and outcomes after surgery, which we all know improves outcomes. At least the literature shows that. But what was fascinating about this study is they had two groups. One just got handouts, the other group actually had some more intensive coaching with some app-based functions. And not only did that second group improve more and had lower complications, but when they measured their blood levels they actually had lower inflammatory markers. So this really shows that this stuff is real. Preparing on a physical, mental, and nutritional level really improves outcomes. And the more we lean into this, not only does it reduce things like complications, numbers like that, but it's having real effects in the body that explain why this is occurring. So I'm a big believer in trying to address all of these things going into surgery.
