A surgeon discusses research showing virtual reality can boost muscle strength in elderly and frail adults. The gains were modest but meaningful, and VR could become a useful tool in physical therapy programs for older patients.

This is a study I just read that blew my mind as a surgeon. So virtual reality in this systematic review actually improved muscle strength. What's really interesting about this is for elderly people who maybe are starting a bit more frail, they need to maintain muscle strength for their vitality and all the added health benefits. The systematic review said that they can actually get muscle gains, and they were pretty reasonable gains. So this is an exciting tool that we can maybe see in the future as we progress, or virtual reality can become part of perhaps even physical therapy, etc.
