A Gallup poll finds 76% of Americans trust nurses versus 50% for physicians, despite doctors' longer training. Social media and information overload are eroding the personal connections that build trust across professions.

A friend of mine recently sent me this Gallup poll that I thought was really interesting. It looked at trust in professions, and it turns out that recent data indicates only about 50% of the population in the United States trust physicians to a high degree. It's actually lower than nurses, which is 76%. I find that really interesting because nurses have less education than physicians who go through many, many years. Not that they aren't trying to do their best, but it's just interesting when you compare the amount of education. Now, both are well above other professions like business, other executives and politicians. But nonetheless, I think it really shows that our society is being pulled in all these directions, whether it's social media, all sorts of information, and we're losing this individual connection that really gives trust in the individual.
