A brief TV interview with Dr. Paul Savage (CEO/founder of MD Lifespan) on WGN’s Morning News about environmental toxins and how to reduce exposure. Savage, who says he has treated toxin exposure for over 20 years, links widespread pollution (he cites the U.S. dumping “250 billion tons of toxins” per year) to accumulation of PFAS, lead, heavy metals, pesticides and herbicides in people and to chronic-inflammatory diseases (Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart disease, autoimmune disorders). He warns toxins are often “silent killers” because people don’t notice exposure until disease appears. Practical advice: filter household water with a triple filter/reverse osmosis, use air filters, reduce in-home chemical sources (he states ~90% of exposure occurs inside the house), and consult a brochure at mdlifespan.com (path: ChicagoGoClean).

Hey, you guys. I am here with Dr. Paul Savage, CEO and founder of MD Lifespan. Good morning, Doctor.
Good morning. How are you?
No good. There's something we want to talk to you a little bit about why toxins are considered silent killers. Something we may not be thinking about.
You know, back in 2017, I was interviewed by some reporters about the Flint lead crisis. And I said, why are we talking about Flint? We need to be talking about Chicago. And they're like, we don't have a problem with lead here in Chicago. I said, we do. And now I've been munching toxins as a physician for over 20 years and, and toxins have become much higher in both number of them that people get exposed to and the quantity where today, now nobody walks around free of toxins. Everybody that we test has critical levels of pfas, lead, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, everything.
The reason that rise.
I'm sorry, it's the pollution that we've been dumping into our environment every year. The United States dumps 250 billion tons of toxins into our environment every year. And because of that, it doesn't go away. These things don't break down quickly. They just compile in the environment. The reason they're silent killers is you don't know you have them, at least in the current state, until you have the disease. And the disease that toxins cause is every disease that's associated with chronic inflammation. So whether it's Alzheimer's, cancer, heart disease, autoimmune problems, the list goes on and on. Toxins play a critical role in and all of those things.
So what lifestyle changes do you think would be necessary?
So the one thing I tell people and the message to get across to everybody is there's things that you can do. Air, water, food and shelter. And most importantly is filter your water with a triple filter. Reverse osmosis. On our website, if you go to mdlifespan.com ChicagoGoClean, we have a handout, a brochure which tells people these are the products that have been tested by Consumers Report. But also there's air filters. And we have a lot of discussion about how, how to prepare and eat your food and the chemicals that you want to get out of your house, because 90% of the exposure that occurs with people occurs from toxins inside your house.
Okay, how can we find out more? How do we contact you?
They go to mdlifespan.com and they can get all the information that they want.
There's the information on your screen. Doctor, thanks so much for being here.
