Episode 388 - Interview with Dr. Paul Savage: Lower Inflammation and Toxic Load with Plasma Exchange!
7 Dec 2025 · 34 min
Dr. Paul Savage explains plasma exchange, a treatment that filters blood to remove heavy metals, pesticides, microplastics, and PFAS. Patients typically do monthly exchanges over five months and report drops in measured toxins plus improvements in immune markers and cognition. Prevention includes HEPA filters, filtered water, organic food, and ditching household chemicals.

Clean podcast, there's five tenets to health. And it starts with nutrition and exercise, stress management, sleep and detoxification. And although I'd been able to address the first four, the last one I never really felt I accomplished well, because what I had seen in the last 20 years is a level of toxicity in people in Chicago doubling almost every seven years. And I didn't see it in 30 years ago. And we tested for it. Started showing up about 20 years ago, 10 years ago. It was amazing on how many toxins people have. And when I retired in 2022, almost everybody had toxins and not just one, it was like 13 and about 5 of those in the high critical level. So this thing about toxins in the environment and the heavy metals and the pesticides and the phthalates and the microplastics, it's a true threat to humanity at this point.
This week I interviewed founder and CEO of MD Lifespan D, Dr. Paul Savage. Dr. Paul and his team utilize their patent pending plasma exchange protocol to get your health back in order. We discussed the process and advantages of plasma exchange for detoxifying from glyphosate, lead, bpa, mercury and arsenic, along with daily activities that you can do to minimize toxic load. Optimizing the air and water you drink, the dangers of glyphosate, and his one tip, to get your body back to what it once was. Really enjoyed my interview with Dr. Paul. I know you will too. Thanks so much for listening and enjoy the show. All right, welcome to the Get Lean, Eat Clean podcast. My name is Brian Gryn and I have Dr. Paul Savage on. Welcome to the show.
No, thanks, Brian. Very happy to be here.
Thanks for coming on and your company, MD Lifespan.
That's correct.
And I know talking off air, you maybe give a little history. You started as an ER doc and then you've transformed your career to more alternative health, correct?
I transformed everything, Brian. You know, I grew up in the Midwest and I was a studious kid. I wasn't into sports, I was just into books and stuff like that. Went on through to medical school. And in a very short time, I was one of the nighttime directors at the largest trauma center in the world. And I did that for about 10 years. And at 10 years, I'm 275 pounds, I smoke, I drink, I can't sleep, I'm on the night shift, I have heart disease, diabetes, thyroid issues, depression, anxiety. And went to see my doctor. He was putting my seventh pill and I was like, Neil, I don't feel well. He goes, you're out of shape. You're. You're terribly out of shape. Why don't you go eat better and exercise and come back to see me in six months? So I left out of his office and I walked down the sidewalk. And this is one of those moments in your life that your life transforms. Because what I realized at the moment, Brian, is I had no idea how to do any of that for the last 10 years in the emergency room. I would say that to a lot of patients who are overweight with anxiety or chest pain and stomach issues. I like, hey, get eat better and exercise. And at that moment, I realized I didn't know how to do it. How can I be one of the top trauma docs in the world? And I have no clue how to do that. So that just started the whole journey a little over 30 years ago.
And so what was your first step to getting your health back in order? And then. Yeah, yeah.
First thing I did was went out, found a trainer. He was actually the gold Olympic medal winner at the Junior Olympics for martial arts. And then I went, found a nutritionist, and she was very good. And for six months, I pretty much ate what she. What she told me to eat. And I worked out with the trainer five days a week. And at the end of six months, I'm 13 pounds of fat heavier. And I'm like, how is this possible? How is. How can I not lose weight? Well, the long story short is I had a lot of things going on in my body because weight loss isn't just about doing the right thing. The body has to be ready and able to lose weight. And if you have inflammation or hormone issues or toxins or any of these things, you may be one of those people that struggle to get those weights down. But at that time, I didn't know it was. We started learning about testosterone. I was actually one of the first doctors nationwide that went out and started saying, you know, we got a problem with guys in their 50s and 60s on their testosterone going lower and we need to start helping. Helping move that needle, as it were. So my testosterone was 92, and here I am just shy of 40 and 92 level is like 90 year old. So that's kind of explained a lot of that. Then once I found a doctor who started me on testosterone, that improved quite a bit. But it took me the last 20 years to figure out a lot more along the path. But it was such transformational for me because within a year, I lost 70 pounds, but gained 30 pounds of muscle. The lights came back on, my sleep got better, my mood got better. I mean, it was just like, this is the. The feeling that I had was so electric, so rejuvenating. I was like, I'm going to leave the emergency room and I'm going to go out and start a clinic. And I did. And within four years, I had 70 clinics nationwide called Body Logic MD. And so I was treating about somewhere around 60,000 patients with all the different centers that we had with protocols that had to do with early part of nutrition and exercise and stress management, sleep hormone replacement when needed, and starting to try to help people learn about toxins and detoxification. But the last 20 years, it's just been more and more growth. I then went out and built the software system that everybody uses in the integrative space and sold that off because I wanted to collect the data on exactly what does help people get better in a proactive way. And then I retired in August of 2022. And as I told you, as you very well know, there's five tenets to health, and it starts with nutrition and exercise, stress management, sleep and detoxification. And although I'd been able to address the first four, the last one I never really felt I accomplished well, because what I had seen in the last 20 years is the level of toxicity in people in Chicago doubling almost every seven years. And I didn't see it 30 years ago. And we tested for it started showing up about 20 years ago, 10 years ago. It was amazing on how many toxins people have. And when I retired in 2022, almost everybody had toxins, and not just one, it was like 13 and about 5 of those in the high critical level. So the thing about toxins in the environment and the heavy metals and the pesticides and the phalates and the microplastics, it's a true threat to humanity at this point.
So you, you retired in 2022 and then you opened up a clinic. I know you're not far from me. You're in Chicago and, and, and you have just your one clinic in Chicago where you're doing mainly your pla. Is it your plasma exchange? Is that your.
Yeah, well, I mean, so the. I've had a number of clinics here in Chicago. I've always had my clinic here in Chicago, but I sold it in August of 22nd. And so when I decided to come back and do the field, and the reason I did is because I read a study about some Stanford PhDs that had been studying that mouse model, the old Mouse and the young mouse, and they tied the mice together, and the old mouse got young. And being a longevity doctor, I've been following that research for almost 20 years now. Finally, in 2012, what they realized was there was no magic particle that was making the old mouse younger. What they realized is it was all the old. Is all the toxins in the old mouse that was making the old mouse older. And once they got the toxins out, the old mouse reverted its age back considerably. So that was the study in 2022 that came out just after I retired, was the doctors had taken patients and six patients, and they did plasma changes on them over the course of a few months with some labs on the front side and then some labs on the backside. And. And what they found is that all the inflammation went down, chronic oxidation went down, Cancer markers, Alzheimer's markers, the immune system bumped up. And they published their results saying they had thought that the reason is that they had cleaned up all the metabolic excess of biology. That's basically all the trash we make through all the biochemical pathways. And I knew what they had done actually, was they figured out how to get toxins out of people. So when I realized that thought, I got very excited because it is an existential threat. I thought for the first time, we'd have a really good way of getting toxins out, because having practiced an integrative medicine for 20 years, I've done infrared saunas, I've done chelation, I've done charcoal, I've done clay. I've done every system out there on patients. And if you would move the toxin that you were treated 20, 30 points, that was a great thing. I mean, they'll say, hey, we did really good on that. But the problem through the whole part of that is, even though you got that one toxin out, patients still had dozens of other ones, if not hundreds of other ones still in their body. And we needed to find a way to get all of these toxins out safely, effectively, and pretty much universally. And that's what I knew they did with the plasma exchange.
Interesting. And are you testing your patients as they. Before they come in? Like a before, after, once they do? Yeah.
Okay. Yeah. So first off, you know, your listeners may not be aware that plasma exchange, it's kind of like a fancy plasma donation. It's just like the machine that you hook yourself up to when you're doing plasma donations. We just do a bigger volume. So it's kind of like an oil change, if you think about, you know, this is a machine, right. It's a combustion engine, has onboard computer levers and levers and pulleys, switches and dials. It has a combustion engine, it's a machine. And the plasma, plasma exchange is like giving your blood an oil change. So when we hook you up to the machine, we just take your blood out, we separate it, the liquid part, the cellular part, then we throw the plasma away because that's where all the toxins are, that's where all the inflammation is, all the toxins are. The proteins that carry the toxins are all there. And once we throw those away and we give you back your cells, within 24 hours, you're making new, fresh, non toxic, non cancer, non inflamed plasma. And we just do that every month for a series of five. And after five months, you essentially have removed virtually all the inflammation and the toxins from your body. So you asked, did we do testing? Yes, we did over 200 lab tests on patients before and after. And we also did fatigue testing, we did depression score testing, we did a whole battery of stuff. And we went through, we went through 22 patients had gone through the whole process. I remember I was, I was patient one. I mean, I was the first one through and I was the first one that got my results back. And I was very excited but very nervous to break open the seal and see how much of a change that had done for me. And I was hoping that would get a pretty much lowering of all the levels across the, across the spectrum. What I was not prepared for is seeing that all of my toxins went down 80 to 95%. All of them.
How are you measuring the toxin load within the body? Is it through blood or hair or.
So there's a couple of different ways to measure the toxin load, yet we used a urine test to test for the different toxins. And we tested for over 110 toxins, including pesticides and herbicides and all the heavy metals and the phthalates, mycotoxins, microplastics, pfas, all of them, they all went down. But we also checked in the blood inflammatory markers, oxidative markers, your immune system thing called Clotho, which is called the anti aging protein. We checked all of these things and they all removed, went down amazingly and the immune system actually bumped up about 75% after we were, after the procedure. And we've been able to maintain these results on all the patients up to a year now.
Do you, is it like a monthly appointment that an individual has to come and you said what, for five months or so?
Yeah. So what we did is we took the plasma change and we put everything, health and lifestyle around it. So our goal was to not only remove the toxins, but to keep them out. So you're right. We have the patients do a bunch of lab tests. They come in, they do their first plasma exchange, which is a very simple procedure. It's safe. They do it in our office. They come in one morning, the nurse and the staff meet them, they take some, you know, their weight, they check their hematocrit, they hook them up to the machine. So that means putting an IV in each arm, and the blood starts coming out, and the machine separates it, and again, it throws away the plasma that is toxic and gives you back all the cells with albumin. And then when you go home, we start teaching you about things to do to protect your environment. So a lot of it is avoidance. And basically there's four different things that everybody can do and everybody should do right away. It has to do with air, food, water and shelter. Filter your air. Believe it or not, you have 45 highly toxic chemicals in your house. And we're shutting the windows and turning the heat up and essentially baking ourselves in with no toxins. But what you need to do is open up the window, but also get a HEPA filter. And we have a number of these recommendations for all your readers on our website. And I think my team provided you with a link so that people can find out all these different air filters that we've checked out. Because getting the air clean in your living environment is critical to not only staying healthy afterwards and staying clean of chemicals, but to keep them from coming back in. The second thing is water. A triple, triple filtered reverse osmosis. And we have models that you can fit on your counter. There's models that you can have a company come install into your kitchen or even your whole house, depending on how much you want to spend. But this, that's probably one of the most critical things people do, because 20 years ago, you could ask me, where did we get mercury fish? Where do we get pfas? Mostly fish. Where do we get lead? Mostly the water. But nowadays, Brian, it's everywhere. And I mean, everything is everywhere. Not only is there more chemicals in the Chicagoland area, we have over 100,000 chemicals introduced into our environment. But it's these basic steps of cleaning the water, cleaning the air, and then making good food choices. As you always talk about, you know, organic food. When you can wash the fruits and vegetables thoroughly, make sure you get your meat source from a respectable vendor. So you know, you're not getting fish that's from farm raised filled with toxins. And finally, the shelter part is just going into your house and taking out all those chemicals that you have under this, under the sink and the bathroom in the garage, essentially you can get rid of most of those. And there's a number of different great natural products that you can use and you should use because again, we're seeing toxin levels today unprecedented. We've never seen these before in patients. And now we're seeing people with stroke at a younger age. That was a new article that was just released today. The people between 30 and 50 have a 16% increase in stroke in the last 10 years. Alzheimer's is up and the 30 to 50 year olds by 400%. 17 different types of cancer are now occurring in the adults under 50. And everybody's like, what's going on here? It's the toxins.
Yeah. I mean, is, is this something that. Have you ever had a patient come in or individual come in and you felt like their toxin load wasn't even worth doing?
The.
The exchange?
Sure, sure. Absolutely. Probably. Probably over a third of the patients we do an evaluation on because a lot of it is based upon partly on symptoms, partly on their family history, and partly on the toxins, because toxins are going to take you out where your genes are the weakest. And we know toxins have a huge role in neurodegenerative diseases, heart disease and cancer. So if you have that run in your family, I'm going to be a little bit more concerned about getting these toxins out than if those things don't run in your family. But yeah, we have about a third of the patients come in. I'm like, look, we can do things like infrared sauna, but a lot of it is the avoidance part. The air, food, water, shelter, just stop pouring them in. And a lot of people who have relatively reasonable levels and not any of them that are dangerous, they get those out within six to eight months with just infrared, saunas, charcoal and clay. But Brian, about two thirds of them, even when they do that, they're not moving the needle very much because the toxins have overloaded their system too much. You know, everybody's like, it's kind of interesting. What's a toxin? Well, toxins, anything that's toxic to you. I know that sounds like double talk, but it's basically, toxins can interact with every part of your biology. They can act like a hormone, but they act worse. They can act like a fire and burn cells and Injured tissues, they can, but they can come into your metabolic pathways and basically cripple your metabolic pathways. So you're not making energy, so you're not getting the. The immune system response that you need. But probably the thing that toxins do the worst or the best in their case is they come in and they break the ability for your body to detox. They actually literally break that whole system. And once you do that, the toxins accumulate relatively quickly. In the group of 300 patients that we've done over the last two years testing them for their toxin level, the vast majority of them are right around the number 13 on average. And of that, about 5 of those are what we call in the 95th percentile or very high. That's 10 times higher than what it was 10 years ago, just to give you a relative look at that. But then there's this group of women who are about 60 and above and they're thin and they have toxins in the 30s. And what we think is going on then is because they're women with relatively lean, without much fat mass, that's where the body can hide these toxins. That allows those toxins to get towards their detox pathways quicker, break those detox pathways and accumulate those toxins much more considerably.
Do people like, when do they start noticing a difference and the way they're feeling in their life?
So that's a great question. And I'm going to break that into two different types of patients. There's patients that we have like me. I came into this, I felt good. I mean, for the last 25 years, you know, I've got my weight down, I exercise, I eat well every day, get sleep well every day, I felt great. But I still had quite a few toxins in the heavy metal area that I tried for 20 years to get down. And so with just the treatment itself, within five months, my levels were practically zero. And they maintained there for about 18 months now. So I didn't really feel much change.
Sure.
Except about six months afterwards, I do think I felt better energy and the ability to manage stress better. And I think that's what most of the people would say who are doing this program because they just see all the toxins and we know that can't be good. Everybody's like, you know, do toxins cause all these problems? Yes. Is that going to cause me a problem? We don't know. But at those levels, if we have a way of getting it out, then let's do that. But on the other patients who were pretty much crippled from the toxins. And these people, they know it. They had the fatigue, they, they, you know, had trouble waking up. They can only stay up for three hours, six hours, eight hours. I treated these people for 20 years and they have toxins in the 30s. Those people have more of an interesting journey because when you start doing the plasma chains, the first and the second one, they tend to react negatively to it. What I mean by that is after the first or second one, they start feeling worse, their fatigue is worse, they start generating fevers, they get muscle aches, joint aches, headaches. One of my clients came to me and she had been toxic for 20 years. She said, it feels like my rheumatoid is activating again. My doctor wants me to put me on Plaquenil. And I said, well, let's just look at your immune system. And we had tested it before she started and we were seeing a 400% increase in her immune system. Basically what was going on was for the first time in 20 years, her immune system was able to wake up and it saw all this stuff that it needed to get busy on and it did that. So we basically just slowed down the process for her. But she ended up taking eight of these exchanges. But now she's, she's awake much more. I mean, she used to be awake for eight hours, now she's 12, 13 hours a day. And her energy is much, much improved as well. So it's a different journey depending on which protocol we're doing now. The other protocol that we've been running we just published in the Journal of Regenerative medicine was some 79 year old men who had early cognitive decline. And we started doing the protocol with them, measuring their telomere lengths, measuring their cognitive aptitude with a test called the CNS vital sign. It's a validated test that you do at home on your computer. And we put them through the protocol and we have some extra things that we do with cognitive decline, but these gentlemen improved their cognition by 33% and maintain that for up to a year now. And the reason I say up to a year is because that's where we are with them at this point, is they're at the year mark. And that's thrilling for us. And we've had this with two or three patients that we put through this protocol already. And that's why we published the paper on the one. We also have the other papers coming out shortly through the Journal of Clinical Pheresis having to do with removing the heavy metals, the pesticides, the microplastics we're getting all of those down. Plus the effect that has on the immune markers and the oxidative markers which are markedly decreasing and the immune system which happily becomes quite robust again.
Yeah, it's interesting. I mean, I agree. I think this is sort of like a, it can be a silent killer, right? Because you know, you're in, we're all in this environment and we don't necessarily. It's almost a little bit like, you know, seed oils, I know, have become a big topic where you can't taste them. They're in most foods, right. Especially boxes and you know, with barcodes and things like that. And even health foods, quote unquote, have a lot of seed oils in them per se, and you don't even know they're there. And with toxins, it's like your environment obviously is a big product of this. And even like the glyphosates that are in the foods, I mean, obviously we have a natural detoxification process that the body sort of relies on.
But what we're seeing is that becomes overwhelmed because of the volume of the toxins that we're seeing. Now. We've had patients just do supplements. We've had them do infrared saunas and I mentioned six months afterwards they have some reduction in their toxins, but it's not significant. It's not, you know, 20, 30%. But with our protocol, we're in the 80 to 90%, 95% at a year out. Interesting thing also is once we get done with protocol, people continue to do maintenance. And by maintenance I mean they donate plasma. They take supplements that help you with your metabolism and with your detox pathways. But the biggest thing is they've learned how to avoid the toxins and how to get them out of their house, water, food, air, as well as so that their other family members are not exposed either. The ones that are really at the most greatest risk from all this is the young. And I think what we're going to see in the next 10 or 20 years is, is that the young adults and the young children and teenagers, we're going to start seeing a lot more of these effect because a lot of these toxins are hormone modulators and they act like estrogens for guys. And we're starting to see all these things. And with obesity, with diabetes, thyroid problem, autoimmune, Alzheimer's, cancer, heart disease, they all have a link to chronic inflammation and toxins.
Now as far as the plasma exchange, was someone else doing this that you knew of? That is that what sort of prompted you to open your office in what, 2022?
Well, plasma change has been around for 50 years. It's not a new thing. And we have machines that run the whole process. We actually did that in the emergency room back when I was in the AirDoc because we would do it for a certain type of drug overdoses. And for the last 10 years, it's been used a lot with autoimmune diseases and even long Covid. So plasma change was known for a long time. It wasn't until I saw the paper where the Stanford PhDs had done the study on those six patients and the difference in the changes in their markers and that I realized that it could also be used for chronic inflammation and toxins. And nobody had ever thought about utilizing it in that way before.
Interesting. And typically, how long is a consultation and like, you know, how long does the plasma exchange take?
So the consultation, like patients have the ability, if they wish, to go to our website, and I think my team's going to give you a code which gives them a reduced price so that they can purchase a urine test to check their toxin levels. That, that includes 30 minutes with me to go over all that information with you and help you interpret it and give you some advice on different ways of managing your toxins. Or patients can go to the website again, they're going to provide you with a link and download a PDF which talks about keeping clean and getting clean, and basically talks what we just talked about about avoidance and how to limit your exposure to all these negative toxins. But if patients want to speak with me directly, they just go to our website and they can select an appointment on the website and, and I'll be happy to talk to them for 30 minutes, answer the questions as they may have.
Okay.
And all that's for no charge.
I see. Very cool. Yeah. And you're, you're not too far from me and I might have to check out your office.
We will actually, let's talk about getting you a toxin test and see where you're at, because you're a healthy guy. Brian. Yeah, that's a great point that I bring up to people is I have a lot of people who are healthy that have not a lot of toxins that we necessarily need to worry about. But then there's these other group, and even though they're healthy and they're doing everything right, they have the DNA that doesn't work right, they don't have the best genes for detoxification, they don't have the Best genes for vitamin receptors to be able to help with their metabolism. And those patients are at a. Those people are at a bigger risk from what the toxins can do. Also, we just know the connection between the toxins and Alzheimer's, the toxins and heart disease, the toxins and cancer. So if those are things that run in your family, you should start thinking about what you can do to limit those toxicities in your own home for your own health.
Yeah. I'd be curious to see how I, how I test out.
You know, it's a real simple test. I mean, you go to bed at night, we just ask that you not drink from 10pm until you first time. You wake up around 7, 6 or 7. And that's the urine that we want to keep. And then you just pour it into a little vial, you drop it in the mailbox, you do this at home, and about three weeks later you get the results sent to you. And then also an invitation for you and I to sit down and talk for 30 minutes about what that means for you.
Interesting. What, what about alcohol is. Do you find that people who maybe drink, you know, almost every day or every other day, that they have a higher toxic load?
They have a lower toxic load on certain, one of the phenols, the alcohols, because their liver actually REVs up the P450 system, so they detox that pathway faster. So in that way, you know, the alcohols, but it's just one very small group of toxins. I mean, it's not all the toxins through the broad range.
Sure. Okay. Oh, so there's some benefits there.
I don't, I'm not gonna say there's benefit. I've been a health and wellness doctor for almost 30 years now. I tell everybody there's no amount of alcohol that's good for you because that, you know, revving up your liver to detox faster is damaging the liver at the same time. You always, always pay. You're always stealing from Peter to pay Paul.
Right, right. Well, this was great. I'll definitely put links. I know your, your team's going to send me some links for people to get a discount for the testing. Right. And, and yeah, you're. Yeah, I'll have to, I'll have to follow back up and do this. This would be great.
Yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's all about awareness.
Right.
That's really the big part that we're talking about. It's never too late to get the toxins out.
Right? Awareness. Exactly. And Just if this could, if this could, you know, prompt someone to start making lifestyle changes even if they don't go through the exchange.
Correct.
You know, right there and then that's, you know, that's done, you know.
Yeah, you bring up a good point because that's exactly what we find from people. We asked them afterwards, was doing the toxin testing favorable, but did you find it beneficial for you? Almost nobody says no. Almost everybody says yes. Even when they have a lot of toxins, which I tried to alleviate their anxiety, letting them know there's a lot of people out there with a lot of toxins, not just them. And especially in that one group of women, about 10% of the women that we tested had those super high levels. Levels. It's not like you're going to, you know that these things are going to act on you today, tomorrow, next week.
Right.
But you do have time to get these things out. But it has been very transformational for a lot of people because when they see the toxins that they have and they're seeing things like the pesticides and they're seeing glyphosate you mentioned, that's the number one toxin we found in Chicago, 75% of our clients who tested for the toxins had a moderate level of glyphosate, and 12% of the patients had high critical levels of glyphosate. And it's a terrible toxin because it's an oxidizer. It burns everything that it touches. And so if it burns your DNA, it's going to break the DNA. And that's not good for, for example, like development of cancer. If it burns your neurons, you know, the, the associated between Alzheimer's and glyphosate, Alzheimer's and aluminum, Alzheimer's and viruses. It doesn't matter what the combatant is, what the toxin is, whether it's a virus, a heavy metal or, or a pesticide. It's the battle that goes on in your brain that does all the damage. And so if you can turn off the battle, which is what we've been able to do in the case of Alzheimer's, there was a study back in 2022 by Griswold where they took 500 patients with mild cognitive decline, felt to be Alzheimer's. And they did serial plasma changes on those and they looked at, watched them for over a year and better than 61% of those patients had no progress in their disease for almost a year. Which we don't have a drug that, you know, that stabilizes Alzheimer's like That what we did was we took that protocol from Griswold and we added into it neuropeptides, exosomes, stem cells. And what we're seeing is an improvement in their cognitive decline because it's not just about turning the fire off. You got to repair the damage that was done.
Yeah, yeah. That's pretty remarkable. What would you say? This is a question I ask most my guests if you were going to give one tip to someone to maybe get their body back to what it once was 10, 15 years ago. What, what one tip would you give them?
Well, that, that's a real. That I'm gonna say generally nutrition. If you're going to spend your. I tell people all the time you're going to spend your money, spend it on good food. Right. Spending on food that you are relatively sure is healthy, filled with vitamins and nutrients and not a lot of intoxicities.
Yeah, I would agree. I always say, like, I don't spend a lot of money on things, but I don't mind spending it on good food. What I'm putting in my body like that, I'll pay a cost for that. And unfortunately, there's the way our, you know, our society is now is obviously the better foods are, you know, that much more expensive and Right. You know, you got to pay up a little bit. But, you know, the other thing I.
Tell them is you, you absolutely need to filter your water and you need a triple filter, reverse osmosis. Now there's units that you sit on your counter for like $440 that work great. There's units that you can purchase from other companies. They come install it under your kitchen sink. So you have this one faucet that is all pure water. Then there's other companies that will come install it for your whole house or even when you're bathing, you're getting the purified water. I don't know whether the last point is really necessary. We haven't seen the data change that, but absolutely 100% the best thing you can do is, is filter your water. So I walk around all day with a clean canteen, which is stainless steel, filled with the, with the filtered water. And that's what I drink all day, no matter if I'm here at the office or if I'm at a restaurant.
Yeah, that's smart. We have something under the sink, you know, that, that filters our, you know, drinking water. So. Yeah. And nowadays it's so accessible. I think there's quite a bit of companies out there that are making Some good products.
Agreed. But it's the triple filter, so they have the charcoal. You have to have all three of the filters. And the reverse osmosis if you want to get virtually every toxin that's in the water supply. I mean, it gets out the microplastics, heavy metals, all the different phenols, all the different pesticides. There's a number of great products out on the market, as you said. But it's not just a simple filter. It's not the Bria filter that you sit on and you pour the water in the top of the pitcher. That's not going to do you a lot of good. It works on certain areas of the toxins. But if you're going to filter your water, let's get them all out.
Yeah, that makes sense. And excellent. And you are, you're located in Chicago, but people can. You probably work with people all over. Obviously, if they're going to do the exchange, they got to come to Chicago, I'm assuming.
Correct. I mean, and we're in the process of getting some other of our colleagues up to speed with what we're doing. So we're looking to open a total of four more centers by the end of the year, and then we'll be building out more centers after that. Right now because we just finished almost two years work in this area and we're getting the papers published because we need to be able to have our peers in the medical community look at what we've done and review it. We're getting very favorable responses on that, but we need to be able to build the system for patients to track through because we're not talking about something, you're going to see your doctor and you're done. This is a program that you're doing six months of the exchanges and then afterwards continually. But yes, we have patients coming in from all over the world, actually, and they have to come to Chicago once a month for the plasma exchange. But the rest of the stuff they can do in the comfort of their own home. We have a lot of patients arrive in the morning, come straight from o', Hare, and by the evening we have them back on their plane heading back home again.
Very cool. Well, this is great, Dr. Paul. Best place for people to find you.
