I'm Dr. Paul Savage and I'm the founder of MB Lifespan, and I'm sitting here today with Joey Thurman. Joey and I have known each other for a very long time on my own journey of health and fitness. I've known Joey about 15 years, trained with Joey before. If you really want to know of a workout that really made you feel great afterwards, I'd have to say Joey ranks in the top three of all the trainers I've ever trained with.
Just top three, it's fine. Top one, it's okay. We'll go top three. It's good.
Joey's had a really amazing career in the career of physical fitness and longevity. You've been. You authored a recent book.
Yeah. The minimum method. The least you can do to be a stronger, healthier, happier you just. It's your guide for life. It's not just a fitness book.
Very simple. I love the book, actually. It goes into the philosophy that's behind longevity, which is a little bit of everything. Every day is better than a lot, infrequently. So it's all about consistency. Yeah.
I think people, they too often focus on intensity over consistency. We need to have consistency and then add intensity.
Correct. And if you're going to go for one or the other, it's the repetitiveness, it's the consistency of doing it every day that just goes in with the biology of who we are as well. Joey is also one of our team members because he's has developed a virtual fitness app, which is fantastic for a lot of US CEOs who are on the move for people who are wanting to run their own program, but have a physical fitness trainer help guide them through the whole process. So why don't you talk a little bit about the virtual training?
Yeah. So I mean, basically what I do is I'll do an initial Zoom call or FaceTime or, you know, whatever apparatus you want to use. And I talk about goals, desires, wants, needs. You know, I'll give you 95% of what you need and 5% of what you want. I look at you address that where you're working on a gym home, and I design a program specifically for that individual. You know, so whether you get three days a week or you're going out of town, I can design multiple programs for you within one, you know, mesocycle, macro cycle, however you want to do it. But specifically for you, that's the personal impersonal training, which is a big difference than just kind of working out. You need to train for life and you know, that's why this goes hand in hand. So as part of the online program, I think a lot of people are very intimidated to go to a big box gym. Sure. Some people like working out outside or they don't know where to start.
Well, especially us older people. As we get older and we haven't been to the gym for a while, it can be intimidating to walk in the gym with a lot of younger people doing things that we actually don't know what to do.
Yeah, I mean, and not necessarily because you're young, doesn't mean that you know what you're doing for sure. So here's the thing. You don't need much equipment when you're just starting out. Minimum effective dose will get you incredibly far. Just body weight and bands and, you know, some sort of TRX strap, something like that can get you really far. So that's where we're starting, you know, small steps. We need to get up, we need to crawl before we walk, we need to walk before we run, and that's what we're going to do with you. So we're starting at the minimum effective dose because nobody wants to work out as much as me. Like, why would you want to do that? That's crazy. So a day or two a week, we'll start the resistance training and then we'll slowly see how your body is adapting and. And then go from there. Same thing. The way you approach things here, like you're not going to throw everything at them at once. You're going to see what works, go.
For the major things first and build on top of that as you build your foundation.
There you go.
We're really glad to have Joey here as part of the MD Lifespan team, and we're here to help accelerate your health and help you treat tomorrow's health today.
