Longevity - How to Keep the Wheels in Motion at MDLifespan

Paul Savage MD compares longevity to a semi-truck with a dozen wheels, each representing a health domain like nutrition, exercise, sleep, and hormones. If one wheel breaks, the whole truck slows down. You can't fix longevity by optimizing just one area.

Longevity is like one of those semi trucks with a dozen wheels. For our analogy, each wheel on the semi represents an aspect of your health that impact your longevity. There is a wheel for nutrition, exercise, stress management, sleep, detoxification, hormones, anti inflammation, antioxidation, the microbiome, the immune system, the mitochondria, and one for your genetics. When making changes to improve your health and expand your longevity, you can not only work on one wheel at a time. The semi works best when all 12 wheels are working and moving in the same direction. Frustration sets in when you are working hard on your diet and exercise, but you fail to see much change or improvement in your health. To understand why you are not seeing any change, you need to know how all these wheels work together. For example, you can focus on the nutrition and exercise wheels all you want, but your health semi truck won't get very far. If your hormone wheel tire pressure is low, your inflammation wheel is stuck and not moving. Once you get all the wheels running properly, then your body will truly be on the road for a long and healthy journey. So come in, join us and let our providers check you out. We will hook you up to our diagnostic devices and get the printout that will show you where that frustrating imbalance resides.
