Both of these are completely free and they walk you through everything you need to set up a successful LinkedIn profile. They give you information on building a company page if you're looking for business, a personal page if you're looking for work how to understand your analytics Basically everything you'll ever need to know about LinkedIn. These are really great tools for you to have, so I'll have them linked down below in the description box. Tip number one to make your profile stand out is to make a great first impression with your visual media. This means your headshot and your background banner photo need to be top tier. You want these images to be professional, crisp, clear and represent who you are. It's actually wild how many people don't include headshots or banner photos on their profiles. I have a confession. I am one of those people. I actually didn't have a banner photo for almost two years when I first made my LinkedIn profile. This is how people will be able to put a face to your name and want to connect with you. Your headshot should be just that. A headshot and your banner photo should reinforce who you are and what you have written on your profile. That brings me to tip number two. Your headline should be eye catching and to the point. Your headline is not your summary. Your headline is what you use to reel people in to want to read your summary. This is a quick about you intro to who you are, what you do and what you can do for others. Here are some examples of eye catching headlines from a LinkedIn blog article. These headlines are bold, memorable and encourage conversation. A question I always like to ask myself is if I was on my own profile, would I want to connect with me? Is my profile both inviting and professional? Then I just keep tweaking until the answer is yes. Now let's move on to tip number three and that is to use keywords and descriptors throughout your profile. If you're an SEO expert, then by the time I'm done looking at your profile and reading your summary, I should know that you're an SEO expert. Using keywords like SEO, SEO tips, SEO audits, SEO consultant, etc. Are going to make your profile rank higher when someone is looking for an SEO expert if you're applying to a job posting and you see that they have specific things that they're looking for in a potential candidate, you can edit your work experience to try and match that or just be as true to the role as possible. Not only will your job title be optimized for search, but your experience will be as well. By using similar wording on your profile and resume, this will help you rank higher when the employer is sorting through applicants. There are nearly 800 million LinkedIn users, so by including keywords on your profile, you're more likely to get found and get connected with the right people on the platform that'll help you reach your business goals. Tip number four may seem a bit obvious, but many people actually don't take advantage of this and that is to make connections and ask for recommendations. Skill Endorsements don't wait for the connections to come to you. If you see an old colleague or a customer that can vouch for your work, connect with them and ask them for a recommendation or skill endorsement to make your profile stand out. Including these on your profile showcases your work and it gives the person viewing your profile a feel of who you are professionally. This point ties in perfectly with my next tip and that is to check your LinkedIn profile strength. LinkedIn has a profile strength meter that rates your profile from Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert and All Star. If you don't know what level you're at, you can find this on your profile under your top card information. Your goal should definitely be to get to the All Star status and with the these tips you definitely will. The HubSpot guide on LinkedIn for Business will be a great resource to help you reach All Star status as well, since it includes tips on how to optimize Your rank for LinkedIn searches and it has checklists for setting up a successful account. If you're already a Pro and your LinkedIn profile is already at the All Star strength. The guide will still be super helpful in helping you better understand your analytics, and it even gives you tips for getting the most out of LinkedIn ads, since that's another great way to reach users. Again, that link will be in the description box below, along with the Academy course that you can take for free. So make sure to check these out. All right, before I go, I have one last final tip to tie all of these tips together, and that is to customize your LinkedIn profile URL. The default URL on your profile will be a link that has a bunch of random letters and numbers. But if you want to make your profile easier to find and search engine friendly, then you can customize it to be just your name at the end of the link. This can be done in your profile's settings under your custom URL section. LinkedIn is such a great tool, especially in this day and age where everything is digital. So I really hope that you guys found this video helpful. If you have any questions, make sure to leave them down below. Thank you guys so much for watching and I'll see you next time. Bye.
