Did You Know: Orange Juice Came From A Marketing Campaign?

Did you know? Orange juice came from a marketing campaign in the early 1900s. It's soon to be iconic. That at the time unknown brand called the California Fruit Growers Exchange had one major problem. They were picking way more oranges than anyone wanted to buy. So in 1907 they hired a marketer named Albert Lasker to create a campaign to sell more oranges. Lasker had three game changing ideas. Sell the juice that's inside of the oranges instead of just the oranges. Give it the tagline Drink an orange. That tagline appeared beside the first juice extractors which they sold along with a bundle of their own oranges. And the third most iconic idea, Lasker suggested they change their name to something more descriptive and delicious. The company went from being called the California Fruit Growers Exchange to the company we now all know as Sunkist.
