Google May Have Screwed Over YouTube

I think Google may have inadvertently disrupted its golden cow, which is YouTube. One of the biggest use cases on YouTube is like, how do I fix things? Right? One of the things Google demoed is the ability to search from your phone and have the AI answer your questions. So this was an example of someone who bought a record player. Record player did not work. They took a video of it and they were able to just have Google answer that through the new kind of AI overview screen. For me, that kind of cannibalizes YouTube in some ways because that search used to go to YouTube, now it will go to its own platform. And I do wonder about how that impacts your search strategy for even YouTube, if a lot of those queries starts to get cannibalized by the AI overview. Because one of the things I had believed is YouTube is much more defensible than traditional search. But then the kind of ability to do this does make me think that maybe even YouTube might be a little bit cannibalized by some of the AI improvements.
