TikTok users don't just watch videos. They want to feel like the content was made just for them. How do you make content just for them? You ask? Well, download CH GPT on your phone and ask what are the biggest struggles for an insert your audience in and insert your industry. Then take those answers and turn them into TikTok videos. For example, if you are a wellness coach, your audience struggles with finding quick meal prep hacks. You can create a 30 second TikTok showing an easy, no fuss meal prep solution. People always need easy fixes to their problems. TikTok users are far more likely to engage with content when they feel connected to the person with behind the account. TikTok isn't just about what you're selling, it's about who's selling it. If you are talking to the camera, talk casually like you're facetiming your best friend over coffee. There is no need to over polish, but here's the hack you want to share the wins and the struggles. Maybe it's a successful launch or a day when everything fell apart. These behind the scenes moments make you human and TikTok loves that. For example, this point of view of a small business owner doing all the jobs relatable, right? You'll also want to develop a content strategy. I will give some tips throughout this video, but I have linked a Marketer's Guide to TikTok in the description of this video and this is going to be your TikTok Bible. As a small business owner, it will walk you through exactly how to develop a content strategy unique to your brand. So go ahead and download that now. It is free and it's linked in the description. Here's a little secret. TikTok rewards authenticity, not perfection. No fancy equipment, no problem. Here's how you can nail it with just your phone. Use your front facing camera to make sure that you're capturing the right angle. Find good lighting. You could be near a window or just grab a $20 ring light and invest in a simple tripod from Amazon. Then just start recording your day. Brainstorming Packing orders Tackling a minor disaster. These raw moments are content gold. For example, if you're a small coffee shop owner trying something new, record it and post it as a TikTok raw beats polished every single time. Did you know that the first three seconds can make or break your video? If you don't grab attention immediately, your audience is gone. Here's how to hook your viewers in an instant. Start with a bold statement or question. Show action or intrigue immediately and reinforce it with captions in case somebody is watching with the sound off. Here are some examples of great hooks that incorporate these three techniques My small business is failing and on the outside it might look as though everything's going well and I'm making lots of orders. But the reality is, I'm just not.
This is the biggest mistake I've made for my small business. Last year in February, I was bored with my small business and I decided to go live on Tik Tok. More to package orders. Things ended up going so well I can never keep items in stock.
See what they did Authenticity. Relatability. Action. Intrigue Captions. It was all there and you want to watch more now, don't you? Now that you've mastered the basics, it is time to focus on growth strategies that'll help you stay ahead of TikTok trends and consistently grow your audience. Remember this trends are a tool, not the whole story. Here's how you can properly use them. Use the TikTok Creative Center. This is such a cool tool for spotting trends in real time. You can search trending audios and challenges and hashtags specific to your niche. Then you want to tie in the trends to your brand. Think about how you can naturally weave your product or service into a trending format. For example, if you are a fitness coach, you could use a trending sound to show clips of a client during a transformation. With permission, of course. And not every trend will make sense for your brand. And that's okay. You will want to evaluate trends and find the ones that resonate most with your audience. Now if all of this sounds like a lot to you, because honestly, trends could be a whole separate video, check out the guide that I linked in the description. It's going to go into so much more detail about trending audio, video, hashtags, etc. TikTok loves consistency. Posting regularly keeps you top of mind for your audience and the algorithm. The key here Content Series Think of your favorite TV show you kept coming back for the next episode because it built anticipation and familiarity. Apply the same principle to your TikTok strategy. A planning brand could post a Sunday reset list video every Sunday, showing a new checklist and every week. Always make sure to tease your next video and have a call to action to follow for more. That being said, you do not have to reinvent the wheel on TikTok. Instead, take a look at what's already working in your niche and put your own spin on it. Use TikTok's Discover tab or the Creative center or even TikTok Studio to find popular videos in your space. Study the top performing videos, look at their hook, their pacing, etc. Take notes and adapt these elements to your content. Finally, add your unique twist. TikTok audiences love originality. Sounds like a lot of brain power, right? This next tip is going to simplify it Content pillars give your TikTok strategy structure while covering all the bases for your brand. Each of your videos should fall into one of these Nurture Content Authority Content Lead Generation Content let's say you're a handmade jewelry business. Your nurtured content could be showing clips of your workspace in your creative process. Your authority content could be sharing a quick tip about how to care for handmade jewelry and your lead gen content. This could be a video offering a free jewelry care guide in exchange for email signups. This strategy will make it 10 times easier to think of content ideas that are always relevant and have a goal. Got it so far. Now let's talk about collaborations and how they can help you tap into new audiences. Collaborating with other creators or businesses in your niche is one of the fastest ways to grow your TikTok audience. Use TikTok's Creator Marketplace to connect with influencers or micro creators who align with your brand. For example, a local coffee shop could partner with a foodie influencer to review their menu. A well matched collab introduces you to people who are already interested in what you offer. Now we've covered how to build your content and how to grow your reach. But what about optimizing your videos for maximum visibility? Let's get into that. Audio is everything on TikTok, but here are some considerations you need to make before using it. Trending audio boosts visibility, but be cautious because trending audio can be muted while or removed due to copyright issues and then your video will be muted as well. You also have the option for Evergreen audio. Consider using royalty free music from platforms like Mixkit or Upbeat for videos that you want to stay relevant long term. I suggest combining both of these strategies. Use trending sounds for fun, time sensitive content and Evergreen Audio for core videos like tutorials or brand intros. TikTok's algorithm rewards content posted when your audience is already scrolling. Timing can significantly impact your views. Switch to a TikTok business account. It's super easy and it's free. You want to go to Settings account and switch to a business account. You're going to have way more analytics this way then experiment. Early mornings, lunch breaks and evenings are peak engagement times for most audiences. Test different time slots to monitor your analytics and see what works best for your niche. TikTok isn't a one sided platform. It thrives on interaction. The more you engage with your audience, the more TikTok's algorithm will reward you with visibility. Use TikTok's reply feature to create short video responses to questions or feedback. End your videos with questions to encourage viewers to leave comments and consider going live. Host a Q and A or share a sneak peek of a product launch to connect with viewers in real time. Hashtags help the algorithm understand your content and serve it to the right audience. Stick to three to five relevant hashtags per video. Too many hashtags can confuse the algorithm and make your post look cluttered. You'll want to use a mix of trending and niche specific hashtags. For example, trending hashtags could be TikTok made me buy it, whereas niche hashtags could be Mom Fitness Journey. Now that we've nailed down content creation and optimization, it's time to future proof your strategy by focusing on building an audience you can take with you no matter what happens. As much as we love TikTok, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Repurpose your TikTok content across other platforms to maximize your reach and ensure that your hard work doesn't go to waste. Stick around because I'm going to show you how you can post on multiple platforms simultaneously so that this isn't so tedious. Social platforms are unpredictable as we've recently discovered, but your email list is something that you own. It's the best way to stay connected with your audience regardless of algorithm changes or platform bans. So this is how you build your list. First, create an irresistible lead magnet. Offer a freebie like a guide or a discount in exchange for email signups. Then promote your lead magnet in your TikToks. For example. Want more tips like this? Download my free guide. It's linked in my bio. I know what you're thinking. Now I need to think of email concepts as well. No you don't. That brings us to our next tip. Here's how to use your TikTok scripts or concepts to write short value packed emails. Head to ChatGPT and insert your TikTok script or your concept and say turn this into an email newsletter too and insert your goal. So this could be make more sales, engage my audience, nurture my audience, get referrals, et cetera. Then if you want to, you can add exclusive tips or behind the scenes content that didn't make it into your videos. And make sure to include a call to action that drives traffic back to your TikTok or your website. Time is your most valuable resource, so use tools to Streamline your processes. HubSpot has a social media manager tool that can help you create and schedule posts across platforms, and you can tweak the captions to match each platform's best practices. HubSpot also has an email manager that will help you create and automate your email marketing campaigns. To make this easy, find a platform that works for you that has multiple tools in one place to streamline your workflow and avoid burnout, which could mean quitting posting altogether. We don't want that. The creators who thrive on TikTok aren't just the ones with great content, they're the ones who keep growing and adapting.
